Since it's a beautiful day in South Florida, we decided to have lunch overlooking the ocean. Our server Victoria was friendly and informative. If there was an ingredient question she didn't know she would go to the kitchen and ask. It's a nice modern restaurant that's half open so you can feel the ocean breeze and see the gorgeous view from all the tables. If you can find street parking it's $17 for 2 hours. There is a parking garage on the street behind the restaurant that costs $3.50 for two hours. There is a handicap ramp leading up to the restaurant on the side of the restaurant facing lucky fish. We started with the steak tartare. It's prepared table side by the server with a garlic oil. It's served with two pieces of bread and three water crackers. In my opinion, it would be better served with only soft bread and no crunchy crackers. Then we had half a dozen oysters from Prince Edward Island, the horseradish gave it a nice kick. Lastly, the jumbo crab cake, although delicious with a great dipping sauce, was a very small portion so I don't think it should've been considered an entrée. It should've been an appetizer. The server took our order, it took about 20 to 25 minutes to get our drinks. After that we basically never saw him. We waited soo long that happy hour ended before we could get a second round. When the table asked for dinner menus, he brought 2. There were 7 of us. My wife asked for a menu and he replied that there was one with our friend. I love spending time at the beach. My sister and her family took me to a restaurant on the Pompano Pier called Oceanic. We picked a table outdoors which was perfect! I love soaking up the sunshine and breathing in the fresh ocean air. There were so many delicious items on the menu to choose from like the ceviche (mahi mahi, lime, tomato, jalapeño, red onion, avocado, cilantro). And the Sun-Kissed Shrimp that my sister ordered in a Thai sweet and spicy chili sauce. I went with the Bacon Blue Burger (Point Reyes Blue, Neuske's bacon, bibb, tomato, truffle aioli on a brioche bun) and it was so good. It also game with herb sea salt fries that were absolutely delicious. Little man also enjoyed the fries along with an order of chicken tenders. Extraordinarily disappointing. Made reservations to spend my birthday at Oceanic with my husband. When I made the reservation I requested a table closest to the beach and I understood that it was not promised. So, that was fine. But when we arrived, there was no seating near the beach. I asked the hostess for guidance - should we should wait at the bar for a table to open up? She said yes. That was a good idea. We had appetizers and drinks. But, it only got more crowded and then there was no table outside. I told the hostess we wanted to sit outside but she just gave all the tables away. BEWARE. Making a reservation means nothing. I honestly don't know why they take reservations if they won't honor out door seating. I was so disappointed. We were discouraged by the hostess' lack of care, concern, or engagement. Have been living in Pompano Beach now for almost three years and love all the local establishments. Today, stopped at Oceanic for some drinks and encountered the most useless, arrogant and condescending "bartender" around. Says his name is "Ray". Doesn't make eye contact, rolls his eyes when you politely ask for club sold (when his drinks are absolutely disgusting) and has a horrible attitude. Came for brunch - it was great! Atmosphere inside nearly killed me .... The AC was off and not working - I really wish they would've told us that before they sat us inside. I had the cashew crunch salad which was a little too warm and not as refreshing as I had hoped, I tried the French toast which was SO good, the eggs looked great, and the side of potatoes were yummy!! The food was great, but the wait staff that we encountered seemed less than enthusiastic to do their jobs or down right hostile. You'd figure that a place with this presentation, location, and target customer demographic would have employees that were on top of their game and would be eager to earn a solid tip on a $300 bill. Or at least make a minimal effort at doing their job. But, looks can be deceiving. The place wasn't super busy, it was only half full. Meanwhile our waiter left us with empty glasses the whole meal. We asked the waiter at the table next to us if he could send our waiter out to help us. He actually seemed pissed off that we had dared to speak to him, gave us a "Why the Hell are talking to me?" look before walking off. When he came back to deliver the food to his table he gave an exaggerated bow to them and said "Bon apatit" then cast a snotty look towards us. Everybody noticed it. Apparently he didn't pass on the message to his coworker because 30 minutes later our waiter finally shows up, just to ask us about dessert, after we had choked down our meal without drinks. We declined and said that we were ready to go. He brings out our check and the card reader and then lurks over us, inches away, with a fake smile, apparently he was trying to guilt intimidate us into giving him a big ol' $60+ tip for doing absolutely nothing. Well that opportunity had set sail already. We left $0. I've had better service and way less attitude at a run down Denny's on the "bad side"of town. I'm sure that not everyone there is as bad but we'll never risk the chance of finding out again. The moral of the story is that sometimes the table of polite, easy going, low maintenance people with the funny accents will "get right" with you when they've had enough. He'll complain about cheap tourists but he earned every cent of that $0 tip. But we're not cheap, high maintenance trash. In fact, the next day we ate at Lester's Dinner and had a great experience. We gave THAT waiter Mr. Snotty's $50 tip on a $48 lunch bill. read more

We had lunch here today and what a beautiful location! Right on the beach with such a nice breeze. I ordered the Thai noodle salad which came with seared tuna. It was supposed to come with arugula but I asked if they could switch that to another green and they did. The salad was fresh and very tasty. If I had one complaint it was the seasoning on the tuna was a bit heavy for my taste. The peanut dressing was delicious! My husband got the lunch special. It was a three course meal for $35. He had the roasted brussel sprouts for his appetizer and the crab cake which came with an arugula salad on the side. He said the brussel sprouts were delicious. He also enjoyed the salad but we both thought the crab cake was smaller than what they said. On the menu it said a "jumbo" crab cake and it was not what I would expect for something called "jumbo". His lunch also came with a dessert and he chose the key lime pie. We got that to go because we wanted to enjoy it later. I like that you can make weekend reservations at this place, since you can't at the Beach House next store. Unfortunately I didn't know this in advance and didn't want to wait 2 hours for an outdoor table. We sat inside and could still at least see the water. It was really cold inside, even with the doors open. The waitress was very friendly, and quick to check on us. The food was really good and definitely a highlight for this visit. They have a kids menu, it's just not listed on the main menu. The prices are what you would expect for a spot on the beach. We came here Sunday evening and the place was fairy busy. Outdoor and indoor seating, I wanted to sit outside however it was so windy that day we sat in the booth inside. For starters we tried the calamari that comes with a smoked tomato aioli. To me the sauce was delish different and I kind of liked the tomato based verses a mayo one. However my girlfriend decided to ask for another sauce that came for some sandwich. I got a white sangria for my cocktail that was perfectly made with a hint of sweet love . Entrees we did the burger and the lobster ravioli . The burger was cooked to the perfect temperature and seasoning. Chefs kiss . Oceanic at the pier in Pompano Beach has a gorgeous setting, but the service and management were deeply disappointing. We were referred by Home2 Suites and given a card for a complimentary appetizer. Because the card said Monday through Friday, we raised that issue beforehand and were encouraged to ask anyway due to the hotel referral. We told our server, Joseph G, about the card at the beginning of the meal. He said nothing. Only when the bill arrived were we told it would not be honored because it was Saturday. What made this worse was the manager's response. Instead of making any effort to address a very obvious misunderstanding, he simply repeated the policy and offered no gesture of goodwill at all. In fact he said we were the second table with the same request from the same hotel. This was not about a $17 appetizer. It was about hospitality, judgment, and how a restaurant chooses to treat its guests. Beautiful location. Disappointing service. Very poor customer recovery. read more

Last night my brother in law ordered Baby Back Ribs. The manager came over and told him the ribs were going to be another 15 minutes. Did he want to change his order? He did change. Yesterday, we took a day trip to Pompano Beach to explore this beach town. The sun was not out, and it was a cloudy day. We had a list of places that we wanted to see, but first, we wanted to have lunch at the Oceanic. We had made reservations a few days ago calling directly to Oceanic. We requested outdoors with ocean view. She promised a table closest to the ocean. However, when we got there, she only had a table 3 rows away from the ocean view. I told her what we were promised, but she said it'd be a 45-minute wait. So we accepted the table. Just 10 minutes after we sat down, not even a glass of water had reached our table yet, a table closest to the ocean view opened. We thought we would be seated there. Oh no, the hostess took 2 older ladies straight to it. We couldn't believe it! So, right there, I dropped 1 star from the rating. Our server was Alexis, who was very nice, professional, and attentive. She stopped by several times to check on us. We appreciated her. I ordered the Lobster Roll with a side salad. It was good but not the best I have tasted. The roll tasted like a hot dog bun that had been overheated. They did not skimp on the lobster, though. My daughter ordered Chicken n Waffles. She thought it was good. She had the Strawberry Margarita and liked it. I had an Iced Tea, which was fine. We thought the restaurant was beautifully designed and decorated. The place was filling up. It was very loud outdoors from various conversations. A family next to us were having disagreements and using the F word loudly and consistently. They quieted down after a while. It was an interesting afternoon there. The parking availability is street parking, and there is a parking garage about 2 blocks away. This restaurant is right off Pompano Beach near the Pompano Pier. It's a beautiful restaurant, the inside was massive, it looked very elegant for a restaurant right off the beach. We sat on the patio in mid July and it was perfect. There was a cool breeze and there were ceiling fans going so it felt good. Only bad thing I would say is that the vegetation near the patio nearly blocks out the entire view of the ocean so that a little disappointing. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and although it was good, the portions were a bit small. We also ordered a bread basket, which felt like it could've been complimentary. We had 7 people on our party and everyone ordered a variety of things. All the food was good, but not great. The best thing ordered was the fish of the day, it was grilled, came with rice and veggies. You got the entire fish and it was really good. Everything was really good, our server was a bit slow considering they weren't that busy. She made a suggestion for my cocktail since she's a bartender and I didn't like it very much. I made an early morning reservation (around 9am) on 3/17 for dinner at 7:15p same day for my girlfriend's birthday. I had to make the reservation on Resy, and some questions included occasion, allergies and special requests. On Occasion I put birthday, Allergies none and on special requests I asked for 2nd floor patio, with the best view of the ocean and scenery for the occasion to make it special for her birthday. We arrived at around 7p, and got escorted to our "reserved table" immediately... to my surprise not at the second floor patio because "it's for special events" the hostess commented, not sure why a beautiful restaurant like this would limit their seating to the full venue... but I guess they know what they are doing. As we walked through the dining room towards the outdoor terrace there were a few empty tables and We got sat at the back of the terrace with little to know view of the beach infront of a massive tree. Ignoring my request on my resy reservation for the best view possible. My girlfriend ordered a margarita that took a little long to receive, the server apologized and explained that there was training going on, weird time conduct a training for a new bartender during dinner on a holiday evening but, we weren't in a rush so didn't mind the delay. As we waited and enjoyed the ocean breeze and the view of the massive tree... there was a party next to us that was also celebrating a birthday, they brought them a sparkler and some type of dessert. Was looking forward to the same since I was preemptively asked on Resy if the dining experience was for a special occasion. The food and service were pretty good. Table side tuna tartare was a little under seasoned but my girlfriend and I enjoyed our entree. When it came towards the end of the meal, the server asked if we would like anything else, I asked for an espresso, came to the table pretty quickly along side with the bill... giving me the hint to hurry to get the table rotated, even though we decided to come to this restaurant instead of the other locations near by for a birthday celebration. The espresso was cold and with zero "crema" the foam found on freshly brewed espresso. Must've been an older espresso was sitting out or some left over in the tin cup from a prior pour from the last batch... We paid the bill, had the rest of our drinks and headed towards the exit. I decided to ask the hostess "what was the reason for asking all these additional questions during a reservation process..." she explained that is for them to review the occasion and accommodate as needed, I then followed with the scenario of a birthday, which she explained "we bring a slice on cake with a candle" so I said thank you for the information and walked away towards the exit. In short: Absolutely beautiful views, ambiance and (mostly) good food I came here for a romantic dinner date and they definitely delivered. The ambiance was perfect, they sat us right next to the water under a beautiful full moon . To start, he ordered a beer and being a rum lover I got the pompano punch which is made with Don Q Puerto Rican rum (bonus points, my favorite rum). Not overly strong but just right. To start.. we got the sun kissed shrimp that comes on a slightly spicy Thai Cole slaw... this is scrumptious! I would get this again. I got the crab cakes and my companion got the mahi mahi. The mahi was dry and overcooked... they could've done better with that one. My crab cakes were delicious, the right amount of succulent crab. For dessert.. my companion loves creme brûlée so that was our choice. The sugar crust was super thin, the custard consistency was way off, and it seemed to be not very fresh. He gave this honest feedback to the server which I agreed with. The server was attentive but they made sure to give us the right amount of space. Overall, it was nice experience but I had to take off a star due to the poorly done mahi.You are on the water (charging those beachfront prices as well) so you should be able to deliver. Is this Resturant a few times but yesterday 2/15/26 was an awful experience. Shortstaffed or just not interested in providing service. About 4:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday not really busy. Plenty of high top tables available, but would not seat us a party of two. We have driven out of our way to go to this restaurant looking for a good experience, but ended up with the worst experience. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not be back. We had a good late lunch at another restaurant nearby and when we walked on the pier, we noticed that still there was plenty of tables available. In fact it was mostly empty. I don't know what the problem is with management of this restaurant but unfortunately I don't think they care. read more
