The view at this restaurant is amazing. They happily socially distanced all the tables. I felt very comfortable here. It was my 1st visit and I would definitely come back again to try more items on the menu. I had the She Crab Soup. It was delicious. I don't like my soup piping hot though others do. It was just right for me. The shrimp had just enough spice. They weren't fried too hard and was very delicious. Also, weren't very hot. Now what actually was warm was my iced sweet tea. I didn't complain because it was a 90 degree day. The hostess was great and so was my server. I would return again. I got there at 11:00 the scheduled opening time. I had the option of dining inside or outside l chose the later My server was pleasant not attentive. My meal begin with a cup of "she crab soup" it reminded me of calamari chewy, the green onions were a nice touch to the palate but was over shadowed by saltiness of the soup oyster crackers came w/the dish they were not used. My next dish was "ceasar salad" the romaine lettuce leaves were wilted and luke warm over loaded w/ceasar dressing and bread crumbs for the finale (shrimp & grits) shrimp and white cheddar grits the presentation was mouth watering the grits were good along w/the shrimp but the sauce once again was hit with a sea of salt. We came for A Full Moon Affair which was live music, celestial themed food and drink and the view of the moon. We were seated right away on a Sunday night. Our table location gave us a great view of the moon rising over the ocean! It was an amazing view! The solo singer played a good mix of music which added to the ambience. They brought out hush puppies that were ok. I ordered the fresh catch which was wahoo. It's not a common fish that I see on a lot of menu so I had to get it and it was very good. My husband ordered the blacked mahi-mahi which he enjoyed. I wished the menu had more of a celestial themed since that's what brought us in but the food, view and music was great! I went here for the first time on my birthday. The restaurant is big with 3 floors. Imagine the great view of the beach in the day. They don't take any reservations, but when we arrived we got seated in no time. It wasn't very crowded. They don't boast of a huge selection of food, but all the dishes we ordered tasted great. The crab stuffed shrimp, the sun-rise shrimp, the chicken, scallops...they are all very delicious. We had a great dinner. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be for them to get an espresso machine (they have coffee though). Because come on, who doesn't want a shot of espresso with dessert. :) read more

Went last weekend for an overnight beach trip. Stopped here for the a late lunch. We had a Caesar Salad, Calamari and kids grilled Salmon. Everything was good. We sat outside on the pier and the day was beautiful and the water was clear. Our server was very kind and attentive. This is one of our go to's when visiting Wrightsville Beach. Came around 6 and was shocked that there was no wait! The outside patio/pier seating was cute and spacious! Got sat immediately but it took the waitress awhile to come to us and to take our order. We had to order everything at once because we were nervous that she wouldn't come back. Food came out quick though! The hush puppies and crab dip were really good. The swimsuit mahi special and shrimp and grits were also really good. Unfortunately the calabash platter was gross. I got all shrimp and the breading had little to no seasoning. The old bay fries again had no old bay seasoning. On top of that there was a long hair embedded in the breading of the shrimp. Kind of grossed me out the rest of the meal. I tried a bowl of gumbo, and was so disappointed. It's described as shrimp and scallop gumbo. Well, there was exactly one small shrimp in mine, no scallop. It tasted like tomato soup with a lot of onions. Yuck. It was Nothing like gumbo. I had the fried flounder with fries. The fish was decent, I'll say that. The fries were not good. Try the crab dip appetizer and you'll feel like you should smoke a cigarette afterwards! None of the entrees will leave you disappointed. The staff is always friendly, helpful and engaging. Such a nice restaurant on the Atlantic Ocean!! Great service and fresh seafood! We stayed across the street at the Sand peddler and were able to just walk over to the Oceanic for a nice dinner and drinks! The ambiance was great! Indoor is set up nautically with a great oceanic feel and experience. Menu had great array of seafood, soups, salads, beer, cocktails, and wine. I tried the ahi tuna poke bowl and the tuna was done perfectly(in my opinion). My mom ordered the grilled chicken salad with balsamic and it was great! I was pretty excited to come here, and unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations all the way. It was good, not great. It's a gorgeous, huge restaurant, literally on the ocean with waves crashing below you, so that and the atmosphere itself are 5 stars. And I get it, at places like this the food isn't the best because of the views, and this was definitely the case here so I get that. I still enjoyed my experience, just not as much as I wanted to. We sat outside so had the best views. Started with the margarita on tap which was good and had the crab dip and lobster and shrimp rolls for apps which were tasty. For my entree I think I had the crab cakes, but I'm honestly not sure (which is very unlike me) but I guess they just weren't that memorable - I even looked at the menu. Service was pretty poor, we had a young female waitress so seemed super frazzled even tho it was pretty empty, and when we would ask for something, it took so long for her to get it. Asked for cheese for someones pasta and by the time she brought it, we were done eating. And then when we were done she disappeared for 20 minutes then was talking to another table for soo long. Overall, this is really 3.5 but I couldn't make it a 4, so a 3 it has to be. I would come back because the location is so great. I think they have brunch I'd be interested to try! read more

We dined here because I was curious what changes and updates they've made. Last time we were here, I was underwhelmed. The changes are great! The bar is now open and is bright and has a wall of windows that look out over the south end of WB. Beautiful view! The bartenders were helpful and nice - a bit slow but it's still newly opened so they get a break on that. I have to slam the manager though. The bar was in the weeds, and he walked back there did something and then walked away. Meanwhile, there were dirty dishes in front of new customers, people waiting for a drink menus or drinks and he just leaves the bar area to go stand near the bar. Huh? The new menu is a huge improvement over the former. Huge. The portions are just the right size and the taste and quality of the food was phenomenal. The service was also great. They have it a bit crowded outside but that's understandable. I didn't get a picture of the watermelon and shrimp salad we shared but it was not only beautiful but a perfect combination of ingredients. And, unlike last time we ate there no pigeons joined us for dinner! read more

For one the wait was ridiculous. For two the service was terrible. Waiter didn't properly greet us. Was whispering in a fully crowded restaurant so we kept having to ask him to repeat himself. The food was the absolute WORST. No flavor whatsoever. You would think eating right next to the ocean would mean at least decent seafood, but nope. Haven't been this disappointed in a while. I guess when your the only place around for people staying around there without transpo you can serve whatever and however you want. I've been going to Oceanic for many years now, primarily for the location and outdoor seating on the deck. Our last visit in September, however, was a huge disappointment. Historically, I haven't rated their food as outstanding, but you could always rely upon getting a decent meal, somewhat reasonable pricing, and - the best part- a basketful of hush puppies for the table. At our most recent visit we had to ask repeatedly for the hush puppies as they were not automatically delivered to our table. At first the wait staff told us they ran out of the mix. What? It was 5:00 on a weekday. Then she found some for us. They were so greasy and heavy - not at all like the signature hush puppies we were accustomed to - yuck! The food was mediocre as well. My entree of crab stuffed salmon was cold and had to be sent back. The salmon was pink (not red) maybe farm raised? Anyway, it wasn't very good even after the reheat. Another member of the party got the fish of the day which was halibut. She said it was delicious, but at $40 a plate, I would certainly hope so! Anyway, you can't beat the location so we're thinking maybe next time we just come for a cocktail and enjoy the view! read more

Excellent fresh flounder with just the right amount of breading. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and the unsweetened ice tea was well made. So my friend and I decided to take a day trip from Durham to the beach. We spent a few hours chit chatting on the beach not far from the Oceanic with the plan to hit them up for a late lunch. It was a beautiful day and we decided sit outside. Our service was pleasant and attentive. My friend and I both ordered a beer, something NC made that the server described as tasing like and orange creamsicle. It was pretty good. The seafood lover that I am, I went for the calabash platter with clam strips, shrimp, and oysters. Wow!! The oysters and shrimp were amazing and the clam strips were pretty good too. I did t eat many of the fries that came with it though. Great food, services and ocean views! I will be making this a regular stop when I come to Wrightsville Beach in the future! One downfall; I was surprised that there were only two stalls in the woman's restroom. One of the toilets was out of order and there was a wait and it was not busy at the restaurant. The door of the work stall also sticks and I had to assist the woman a head of me as she couldn't get out of the stall. Sorry for the delay in posting, I visited on Tuesday 10/15 and hope that this was just a fluke thing. read more
