Went here mid-week looking forward to a relaxing and delicious seafood dinner. Our waiter Tom was excellent with his suggestions and his considerations - the flies were pretty bad and he brought vinegar to the table to ward them off (it actually worked!). Everyone at our table ordered a different fish, and the consensus was that the shrimp-crusted snapper was by far the tastiest choice. The grouper placed second, and the bronzini was just lackluster and bland. Overall, the wine was good, the lobster bisque we started with was very tasty, and our meals were mostly good. That coupled with the atmosphere (can't beat an ocean view), made me give it 4 stars. read more

Flew in to Ft. Lauderdale from Maryland in search of good seafood. OCEAN 234 Restaurant food is superb! My wife and I along with another couple had the Mahi Mahi with the pistachio crust oh my god it simply melts in your mouth. The Red Snapper is also very good. We had a Fillet Mignon and the Ribeye prepared medium rare and both steaks were prepared just right. The water view from our table topped off one the better dinning experiences in recent memory. We had our wedding reception here last weekend. Everything was beautiful, and the service was outstanding!!! We had 60 guests and everyone said the food, the drinks, and the servers were awesome! We worked with Amanda planning the event. She offered professional advice with delicious huge sushi boats, appetizers, salads, sangria on every table, and a cake table where the wedding cake was cut. Flawless! Everything was perfect! Our servers, Tom, Brian, Kendrick, and others, seemed as happy as our guests! They were extremely attentive and professional. We went to Oceans 234 yesterday for the first time as it had been recommended by friends. We were eight older adults. Our reservation was for 1:00 pm and were taken promptly at 1:00. The staff was friendly and very pleasant. Our waiter, Tom, was wonderful. He couldn't do enough to please us and was extremely patient with questions and demands. Great ambiance, delicious food and a caring, attentive staff! My husband and I made reservations for 6 and called back to reschedule for 7 and the manager Drew was true to his word when he assured us the change would not be a problem. The hostesses who were dressed in white for their salsa night warmly greeted us and introduced us to Drew who was even more charming in person. We were escorted to our beach front dining seats that allowed us to gaze at the beautiful view. Our server Katie, was adorable, and made me the picky customer happy and relaxed. She even offered to take our picture for an anniversary memento. We were fortunate to have favorites suggested to us from both Katie and Drew when he came by to see if our table was accommodating. We started with the pork belly appetizer that had a chutney I would have loved to take home and a flash fried shrimp (huge pieces) with a chili sauce I could put on everything. Dinner was even better, a whole lobster on top of the pasta and sauce for my husband's new favorite lobster macaroni and cheese. I personally enjoyed the perfectly cooked sirloin with feta cheese potatoes (I wish I had the recipe) and grilled asparagus. You think we would be full, we were, but desert was a must; a key lime, graham cracker rimmed martini with a key lime pie and fresh fruit desert, mmmmm, next time we come by we will definitely try the apple crisp Drew told us about. To be sure I am conveying the wonderful service Katie offered, let me tell you, we ate slow, talked, laughed and people watched; not once did my water or soda glass fall empty and we were not rushed. I was in town on business and colleagues recommended this restauarant. The parking near all beachside restaurants somewhat suck, but that's a given. This restaurant does offer valet parking for $10 (close to the restaurant). The Food: The fish was fresh and came out in a timely manner. The key lime pie is hands down the best I ever had. Even though I live on the left coast, I pride myself on knowing good authentic key lime pie. Drinks: The drinks were pretty good. I had a strawberry mojito, which was tasty. The best was the raspberry mojito made with champagne. Our waiter Josh was pure rockstar and went over the entire menu in detail including his personal favorites. He knew everyone in his section and it felt like hanging with friends. If I ever go back to this restaurant, I'll be looking for Josh! On another note the restaurant will be undergoing some renovations in August and will be closed for a bit. read more

Ate here today and loved it! While driving up Deerfield beach my group of 4 decided to stop for a quick lunch. For an appetizer we had the crab cake and pretzel bread then for entrees we had sushi, salad, a sandwich, and fish and chips (so a good array of food). Everything came out tasting great and the view was spectacular! It's right next to the pier and when you sit outside you can see down most of the beach! We had the good fortune to have Tom as our server. His big smile and competent manner made our lunch complete. He deserves his reputation as the consummate server. The staff was friendly and attentive, but the downside was the the food. Known for their seafood, the mahi mahi didn't taste great, especially for the price. One person in our party got sick after eating the fish sandwich as well. I understand it happens sometimes, but I'm surprised at the quality of the food for the price tag. read more

Stopped by for an early afternoon treat and to start celebrating my wife's birthday. After a very pleasant and short wait at the bar we were seated outside. Perfect weather and a great spot to watch passers by. Then the food came.....awesome. The BEST Food in a great spot. The mussels were so good we ordered another helping and almost burst trying to finish them all. Three orders would have looked glutinous right? The spent over 4 million dollars rentavating the asthetics and it looks wonderful. Robin is the best waitresss and Katherine is the best bar tender. On the done side the worst bar tender is Jessica. She flirts with her friend and ignores pay customers. It like she is doing you a favor to serve you a drink and walsk away before you finish you drink order. My family has come here several times over the past couple of years and we love it! That said, we were here in April 2018 with a larger party and were a little disappointed overall. Some meals were good, others not so much (service however was very god as usual). Still, wanting to try again, we returned this past weekend (6/16/18) and the food was excellent! Back to standards! I had my rehearsal dinner here and I'm SO disappointed. The food and service was amazing at my tasting but when it came to serving 20+ people, the staff just couldn't provide the same quality of food and service. I understand that serving large parties can be difficult, but when something is planned months in advance, one would think that a business would plan accordingly. The food served was either cold or room temperature and while the chef apologized to my party and the manager offered us a free item, once we collected on that free item and got shots of alcohol, they were ALL watered down. What a waste. If I had known my experience was going to be like this, I would have spent double at another restaurant that I was considering. While I think this may be a lovely place to have lunch or dinner with a few people, definitely don't come here with a larger party as they are clearly not equipped to handle one. I read the previous reviews before coming, so I ordered my food with a grain of salt. The service was very good, our waiter was extremely nice and charming and kept checking on us throughout the evening. I ordered the steamed mussels for an appetizer and they were good, just the standard mussels with garlic and wine. For an entree I ordered the rainbow roll, which unfortunately was not that good. The roll was mediocre and even spicy mayo, soy sauce, or wasabi couldn't amplify the flavor. However, because of the service and the view, I give the restaurant three stars. read more

I've never left a review for a restaurant and I only made a Yelp account to post about how terrible of a dining experience Oceans234 was, especially due to the management. Their customer service and the efficiency was so horrible that I have never experienced anything like this at any other restaurant before. I made a reservation at 11:45 for Sunday brunch with my family, we got there and the table we were suppose to sit at had not even paid their tab. So we waited...30 minutes before the manager even came up to apologize for the inconvenience. He was so incompetent, did not ask to comp our bill a percentage or offer us a free appetizer or anything. Now going on 45 minutes of waiting, even though we had a reservation, he then realized that he could just put two tables together and we would have enough seats for my party. That is completely common sense for anyone who has managed a restaurant before so...WHY WOULDN'T YOU THINK OF THAT BEFORE?! Then we got to our table, half the silverware for the party was missing, so we had to ask for that...our appetizer came out and they ran out of appetizer plates so they gave us the small plates that they serve their coffee on...and the waiters (mind you there was a waiter and a waiter in training so TWO people were serving us) forgot my moms drink until she had to ask for it. My family has owned many restaurants, one of them going on 20+ years so we know exactly what the expectations are in the hospitality industry are and this was honestly the worst dining experience I have ever had. I have no idea why they hire such terrible staff (especially the inadequate manager) because the food is decent and the atmosphere is great. We were meeting a local friend at this restaurant for lunch. We parked our car in their parking lot and an attendant came out and asked us for $5 to park the car. We had a table outside over looking the beach & ocean. It is a very nice relaxing view. We had 2 rainbow rolls, a BLT, club soda, 1 glass of wine & 2 beers. The service at this restaurant was excellent. The food was only okay. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special. For the prices it could be better. One of the best places I have been in South Florida. Ashley was our server and she was so outgoing and friendly. She guided us thru the menu and we LOVED the calamari which she said was the most popular dish. My husband had the Sushi which was some of the best sushi we have ever had. I had the Lobster Mac and cheese that was definately not in my diet plan but well worth the calories! The view is amazing and i cant think of another place that is right on the beach like this. The restaurant is a complete disappointment. The place has potential due to its location. However the quality of the food was mediocre, it not terrible. . the service was okay at max.. i order a Cesar salad which was extreme OVER PRICE and terrible, made With old and soggy tomatoes and wilted lettuce. I order it with no dressing and i received a cesar salad dressing chicken cesar.. it was a bad experience over all . Later that night.. i see that in addition to the experience i had, they went and charged me 4 times more of what i owned. We called and spoke with the manager and he was helpful in resolving the mistake in a fast and attentive manner. read more

We were excited to visit this after seeing a feature on a Food Network show. What a disappointment. View is great; food is mediocre at best and service is lackluster. We visited on a Monday afternoon and it was not very busy. We were seated but had to schmooze for a better table. Ordered drinks, a fish sandwich and a cobb salad with shrimp. Waited a few minutes for the food. When it arrived we noticed the fish reuben had hardly any fish or anything on it. We waited many minutes for the waiter; showed it to him and he took it away. We waited many more minutes and then finally asked someone to find the waiter. When he returned we told him we wanted the bill to remove the sandwich we were done. He left and then a man in a suit jacket came by. He didn't introduce himself or seem interested in the issue at hand. We told him the problem, said we wanted it taken of the bill we'd pay for the other items and we wanted to go. He said we had to give them the opportunity to cook the food. We said we were tired of waiting. Told him they were not living up to their reputation. He walked away; no apology, nothing. The table next to us asked if we were still waiting for our food, as they were too and she said they had been seated after we were. Several minutes later the waiter came with the bill and a bag of food (supposedly with a remade sandwich) and walked away. Very disappointing. We don't know how they survive if this is the product they serve or the service they provide. Great view too. We won't be back and our friends will know it's not worth a try. read more
