I have been going to this repair shop for a few years. Every repair or oil change has been been timely and the repairs done right. I trust them. I found Oceanside Auto Repair after another garage (All Tune and Lube) told me the burning smell I am experiencing was my new brakes 'adjusting.' (What?!?!) Then my wife took the car to work and called the fire dept because of the smell of burning grease or rubber and she could hardly move the steering wheel, the same issue I had reported with AL&T. It turns out the steering fluid line has a leak and it sprayed on the motor, causing the burning smell. The owner of OAR (Moshie?) is very personable and honest, so are his mechanics. They invite you to see the problem with your car before they repair it. Loretta in the office is also mechanically savvy and helpful. I recently made an appointment here for 8:00am on a Saturday to diagnose and fix a check engine light indication as well as smog my 2010 Ford e350. This place has good ratings so after looking throughout the local area I decided to give them a shot. I arrived promptly at my scheduled appointment time but was told that they would get to my vehicle when they could, and that they had 5 vehicles show up that morning so it might be a while. Made me wonder what the point of scheduling an appointment was if people can just show up unscheduled and get priority. But with it being my day off it didn't bother me and I had a ride home so no big deal. Almost 5 hours later I got a call from them saying that they didn't know how to lower the spare tire from under the back of my van in order to get to my evap canister, and that when I had converted it to a camper van I must have blocked an access panel to do so. After assuring them that I had not blocked any access panel they then tried telling me that the vans bumper must be aftermarket because there was no access to the jack that lowered the tire, (which it is the stock bumper). They told me I needed to come pick it up and when I got there the mechanic tried showing me what he was talking about. I've never worked on a car a day in my life but within 30 seconds of being there I was able to point out the access hole for lowering the tire which was literally right above my so-called after market bumper. They looked dumbfounded. I decided against allowing them to work on my car any further since after all, if you call yourselves professionals yet can't figure out something as simple as lowering a spare tire from the vehicle (which literally could have been looked up in the owners manual), I don't have faith in your ability to do anything else that requires any further automotive knowledge. I couldn't believe it. Seemed like real nice guys but definitely won't be coming back or recommending them to anyone. read more

Great service until you they find out that you're using a groupon. I got lectured about how I should always contact the company before purchasing a Groupon, which I did, and said that it was no problem. The man there told me that they don't make any money off of Groupon... and then I asked, then why do you have Groupon? And he said to compete with other companies. Either raise your price on Groupon or delete all together if you're not happy with it. Deducted 2 stars because businesses that use Groupon should not make their customers feel as if they have done something wrong and shouldn't tell them that, "you should have told me before I did the smog check so you wouldn't have waited 45 minutes." John inspected my car and after performing the smog check for my car he told me it didn't pass, and he couldn't explain the reason why. He said "he knew" of someone who could pass it illegally for $300.00 This guy was trying to take advantage!!!!! I took it to a mechanic and he told me there was nothing wrong with my car.
