We had a wonderful dining experience! Our server, Cherokee, provided attentive and friendly service throughout the meal and made us feel very welcome. I ordered the shrimp pasta, which came with garlic bread, and it was absolutely delicious. We also tried the seafood pasta with garlic bread, and it was fantastic--full of flavor and generously loaded with seafood. As an appetizer, we shared the clam shells, which were a great start to the meal. My husband ordered the fish and chips and really enjoyed it as well. Came to the Oceanside Broiler to celebrate my friend's bday. What a lovely afternoon. Service was top notch, food was great. They have an all day type happy hour menu. Giving it a 5 because it was a great atmosphere and I sat outside where the breeze was breezing. Now for the review, my clam linguine had barely any clams and mostly shells. This is an old school establishment in the harbor with pretty views and seating inside and out. When you walk in, you can tell it's frequented by locals. People swear by the happy hour. I have been here a few times. Once pre covid for a breakfast buffet and the other times for happy hours. I have always enjoyed what I ordered. They have specials by the day and they send email specials if you subscribe. 3 of us came for dinner on this occasion. They had a $10 off salmon coupon and I just ordered happy hour specials. We all had a drink, a hh margarita, beer & a virgin mango drink. The server was beyond nice and accommodating. My friends each ordered coconut crusted salmon which looked pretty and tasted good. They both enjoyed every bite. I had a Caesar salad which was good but had a touch too much dressing and steamed clams. Happy Hour starting at 11am? Oh, yeah! We sat on the patio and had a beautiful view of the harbor. Our server, I think her name was Katie, was friendly, helpful and attentive. To drink, we ordered a glass of chardonnay and a bloody mary. My bloody mary was spicy and had a good kick! To eat, we tried the calamari, fried zucchini, the wedge salad and the ahi poke nachos. The calamari were big, plump strips of calamari battered and deep fried. They were fresh and tasty. The zucchini was fresh and had a panko-ish breading and also deep fried. The wedge salad was just the right size for a small entree (after having fried food) and the poke was delicious as well. My only complaint was the pickled ginger on the poke, not a fan. Classic Oside spot. A bit grungy, harbor views, and standard American fare. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Oside. Parking is plentiful in the lot or on the street. Food was average at best. I'm always looking for some good steamers (clams) not enough garlic and too much white wine. Caesar's salad didn't taste like Caesar's salad at all. Jumbo prawns not cooked thoroughly. Very small piece of cod amongst a tremendous amount of batter on the fish and chips plate. After driving for one hour to get there, I was hoping to be amazed! This was my second visit with my last being two years ago. I had a blueberry vodka lemonade. It had a good amount of liquor. We ordered spinach dip but since we didn't specify, it came with our food. I had the shrimp quesadilla. It was very good. I like that the shrimp were chopped. My husband ordered the linguini with clam sauce. He wasn't really happy with his choice. The pasta was overcooked. A number of clams were empty. However the taste of the dish was good. Sitting on the patio with views is amazing. We will go back and try more options. The happy hour Pinot Gratio was pretty good, better than some of the other happy hour wines I've had. I also ordered a crab cake, it didn't have as much crab as I thought it should have for $11 each, but the flavors were good and I enjoyed the salsa on top. One of the worst meals I've had in the last decade. Ordered an old fashioned, awful. Not even a full drink? The first time I was almost appreciative I was given a half full cocktail. I Had the shrimp scampi. I'm guessing they defrosted the shrimp and cooked them in the frozen crystals. Might as well have been poached shrimp, which, if you're curious, is one of the worst ways to have them. I hadn't eaten all day so I finished it, but, wow. Scampi is one of the easiest things in the world. Again, barely edible. I'm sure there are other restaurants nearby that make meals that don't come out like a microwave meal. I have to give it to this place - we came in as a group of 10 (4 of which were kids) without reservations and they got us seated. Luckily we were outside and in between lunch and dinner time so we had the space. The wine was awful - both the Chardonnay and the Sauvignon blanc - but the food was decent. Everyone ordered all sorts of different things but I had the crispy prawns and some nachos from the Happy Hour menu. Had to order extra cheese because luckily our server was honest with us and told us it doesn't come with much, and I'm sure glad I did because even with the "extra" cheese it still wasn't very much. This place wasn't the best place we ate at during our trip, but they were accommodating and friendly and for that, I have to give them credit. My wife and I are on a short vacation in Oceanside, CA. Tonight, we visited the Oceanside Broiler for dinner. We began by ordering a Raspberry Lemon Drop, and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. Both were excellent. The next item was a wedge salad, which we shared. Large hunks of bleu cheese, and a lot of bacon made this a delight. For the main course, we shared an entree of pacific swordfish steak, which came with vegetables and rice pilaf. Th swordfish came garnished with tropical fruit salsa, and was oh so good. Our server, Leia, was outstanding, always checking on us, and making sure we had everything we needed. Oh, and one last thing: the view of Oceanside Harbor is something to behold. Just a five star sunset and happy hour. The setting at the harbor is a great backdrop. We sampled broadly from the happy hour dining menu, and were pleased with the results. My parents are moving to Oceanside and we were told that there were some nice restaurants overlooking the harbor. Our meal started out great with some really good appetizers. E shared the shrimp cocktail, mussels, and fried calamari. The calamari was especially good, large strips with tempura batter. So, I was a bit disappointed with my entree. It was overheated and overcooked. I got the snapper, but I could hardly taste the fish. Maybe next time I will try something grilled. Anyways, so mixed, but worth another try. With my parents down here now, I will probably be down regularly and need to find out go to places. read more
