I initially chose Dr. Nykiel based on his positive reviews, but I ended up feeling disappointed not only with my outcome, but also with how my experience was handled. I am a petite asian girl that already had a good foundation to begin with, so I thought there would be no issues with the outcome. We both decided that an upside down heart shaped butt would look best on me, even printing out inspirations of what I wanted. The surgery finally came (May 2025) and I woke up laying flat on my butt. Idk if that affected the outcome but my butt came out looking like a square, I tried to keep positive, as it was supposedly going to get better overtime. Every consultation I had with him, he always came alone in his office. I found that strange, because I have never had a doctor evaluate me without a second person there to be a witness. At a follow-up visit, I expressed that I was still unhappy with my results, and he asked me, "Have you thought about getting implants?" That comment left me frustrated and confused, as I had specifically come to him for a BBL. It made me question him as a surgeon, and why he would agree to do it in the first place. Since then, the consultations have felt like an ongoing back-and-forth without a clear direction or resolution, as if he didn't remember any of our previous conversations. At times, the outcome was attributed to my body composition, which I personally found difficult to reconcile with earlier conversations about my goals and expectations. During the last consultation on September 24, 2025, I made a point to document the interaction because I've consistently felt like I'm not getting clear or consistent answers from him. I asked if we could take before-and-after photos, and he agreed, so I took a few. I then asked if I could record a video of him explaining the results for my own records, and he initially agreed to that as well. However, once I began recording and asked him to walk me through the before-and-after, he became defensive and abruptly ended the conversation by leaving the room. This has been an incredibly long and difficult experience, and the way he handled it has honestly been traumatic for me. When I tried to confront him about everything, he yelled at me to "get out." I was left shaking and completely overwhelmed. This situation has caused me significant emotional distress--I think about it every day, and haven't fully recovered from the trauma. I'm sharing this as a warning to other women: please be cautious, and consider bringing someone with you to your consultations. In my experience, I felt dismissed and that my concerns weren't acknowledged, really thinking why (as a patient) I was treated like this. I am now trying to close this chapter of my experience with him, and hoping to get this fixed somewhere else. There was more unprofessionalism that Dr. Nykiel and the staff had me go through but I'm keeping this short.

As a beginning, I want to be honest about everything that happened to me and share my full…read moreexperience. In January, I had a labiaplasty performed by Dr. Deborah Ekstrom, MD. After the surgery, she prescribed pain medication (Oxycodone HCl IR 5 mg capsules) for five days. During that time, I had severe constipation and had to go to the ER. On March 3, I went back for a follow-up appointment. During that visit, Dr. Ekstrom also injected hyaluronic acid filler into my labia majora, which cost $1,600. Before the procedure, I asked the doctor if there were any negative side effects and how long the results would last. She told me there were no negative side effects and that the results would last a long time. However, the same day I started feeling something hard, like a small stone. The next day I felt itching and noticed redness. Day by day it became worse. The redness increased, the itching continued, and the area started to look uneven -- the left side looked larger than the right. On March 11, I texted the office manager, Jo Cattell. She was very kind and asked if I wanted to come in that day to see the doctor. I said yes. When I saw Dr. Ekstrom, I first showed her pictures of the redness. She said the pictures looked worse than what she was seeing in person. She also said the redness and swelling might be caused by using an ice pack. However, I do not believe this is the cause. After my labiaplasty surgery, I used ice packs and never had this problem. The symptoms started the same day after the filler injection. I also explained that it hurts when I go to the bathroom. I asked if the filler could be removed, but she told me she could not treat the area right now because it looked like an allergic reaction and that further treatment would cost additional money. She prescribed medication for me to pick up at the pharmacy. I am sharing my full experience because I do not want this to happen to another patient. I work hard for my money, and I do not want to waste it on something that made me feel worse. I do like the results of my labiaplasty, but I do not like the filler injection. It looks uneven and has caused discomfort and illness. If a procedure cannot be done safely, it is better to be honest with patients. People trust their doctors, and I was one of those patients. For fairness, I want to mention that the clinic was very clean. The drive time for me was 1 hour and 40 minutes. Also, two weeks after the surgery I initially left a five-star review. My advice to others is not to write a review until you have had the full experience. Finally, I went to the ER again on March 14, 2026 because my labia majora became worse, with severe itching and swelling. I could not sleep because of the discomfort. She was planning to have a revision surgery and prepaid for it in full to Dr Gaon. Never was it scheduled nor any surgery performed because shortly after she became ill and was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Dr Gaon was notified immediately and several attempts have been made requesting a refund. Her oncologist at The City Of Hope was shocked to hear this and sent a letter to Dr Gaon giving her prognosis and that she was unable to have this surgery moving forward requesting for a full refund be given back to his patient. After several attempts to resolve this with Dr Gaon and his practice management team my sister has been ignored has matter disregarded. This refund is greatly needed to help with her share of treatment costs. Beware of giving this Doctor and money before receiving the treatment.
