Not sure why they can't get it together here. Love the atmosphere and views but the food quality is never consistent and the service is hit or miss. Portion sizes have also shrunk quite a bit and the food is not even close to what it used to be. While the service was truly excellent, the food did not meet any reasonable expectation. We each had a salad. I the Cobb salad which was not fresh at all. Wilted lettuce and a malodorous serving of cucumbers. The chicken serving was paltry at best. The ambience was pleasant. Noise level very reasonable but that likely was due to almost no one there. I am really sad because I have wanted to try this place for so long! We were disappointed. Service was disappointing... everything we asked for, even just water took over 40 minutes even though she said she would bring it right out before our drinks. She asked if we wanted to wait to eat our appetizer with our entrees and we said no we want it before. She said that's great bc it's already made, I'll bring it right out. That took 30 minutes to get our 19 dollar stale 8 piece wonton nachos. Dinner was $29 each for stroganoff and rigatoni that were served in a simple bowl that I would use at home. You would think that it would come with a side salad or at least some bread to mop up the sauce. It ended up being really expensive for slow service and overpriced food. What a great patio for a relaxing lunch! Really enjoyed my birthday! The waitress gave us plenty of time to contemplate the menu while we nibbled on the braised beef rib sliders. I met up with some friends here and my buddy reserved a table for about 12 of us. Service started out fine until our food came. All our food we ordered came in styrofoam to go boxes. When we looked out onto the patio at other patrons their food was coming in standard glass dishes which was our first odd observation. Mind you the whole inside was totally empty so it's not like they were busy and in a rush. The actual food was sad. my friend ordered tacos that had maybe 3 pieces of meat on cold hard corn tortillas. another friend ordered a burger with all the fixings and it came burnt with half the condiments missing. They even forgot to put a TOP BUN ON THE BURGER. There were plenty of other problems. It basically seemed like we were being blackballed for being a big party even though they accepted our reservation? They seemed rushed to get us out. In my eyes don't accept reservations of a large party if you're going to half ass the food and service. Food was an honest joke for 80% of our party. When leaving everyone left our food there for a reason. Its sad to see because my family and I have been eating there for years and have always raved about how good the food and service was. We have enjoyed eating there many times ......UNTIL we took our friends there for their FIRST TIME last Sunday. I asked the hostess for a table outside; she cleared another table first and then gave it to someone else who came in after us. We waited a long time for the table to be cleaned. The food was good but the service was HORRIBLE..... to top it off the waitress mixed up our checks. Some of what our friends had was on our ticket and vice versa . When our friend tried to pay with his credit card, she said it wouldn't go through so he agreed to just pay in cash. Two days later he learns his card WAS charged so he paid twice for his meals!! He had to go out to the restaurant in person to try to make it right. He was not treated well at all. My husband and I were SO EMBARRASSED THAT WE HAD INVITED THEM TO a place we frequent often which turned out to be a horrible experience!! I guess we will not be going there any longer. We went here Saturday for the ambiance and views and hoped the food would match that vibe. We were so wrong, the food is just terrible. I had a steak and veggies and i literally was spitting out food the whole time. Veggies were raw! Potatoes were RAW! The steak was so gristly and fatty. Luckily the manager took the meal off but not until we were adamant about speaking to her. our server was nice but he had no knowledge of the menu or liquor options. He was in no hurry to take care of us. We will sadly never comeback. The gnocchi was suppose to have sausage and it didnt, tasted like it came from a jar. Just a bad experience. But the pork was tough and the filling was tasteless. I didn't even finish the third taco. My friend's asparagus was army green-so over-cooked and woody and the stem tops seemed to be missing. Situated in one of the most beautiful parts of town, the views alone are worth stopping and appreciating. Most golf courses have a restaurant and they can vary, but I find them to be overall good places to eat. Ocotillo's menu is simple in a good way. They offer most of the common things like Reuben and Club sandwiches, a variety of pastas, burgers, and such, but when we all think about those foods, it is never about whether they are good but how they are prepared. Ocotillo does a great job at that. The last time we were there, I ordered the Penne Alla Vodka with Chicken and Elise (she is a Yelper as well, so go friend her!) got something else. Our server was friendly and checked all the marks for someone guiding us through our meal that day. When the Pasta dish came out, it was delicious. The wait was not long (restaurant only and had two other tables at the time). I did read the reviews about the wait time, but I can't comment on those since I have not seen how Ocotillo handles themselves under pressure with a full restaurant. read more

Stopped in with some locals for Sunday lunch. We grabbed an outside table in the shade since it was not yet 100 degrees out. The place was empty so no problem getting a table with a nice view of the golf course and the National Monument. The view was the best part. The service was OK - many items were forgotten and needed to be asked for a second and third time. The food was decent. The French dip was good but could have used more au jus. We were seated near a large group of incredibly loud (so loud, in fact, that we were unable to hear each other from right across the table) and foul-mouthed golfers. They were apparently out of glasses, so 3 of us received our water in solo cups (because nothing says haute cuisine like a solo cup!). I had the french dip sandwich. The bread was over-toasted to the point that it lost its structural integrity altogether. The au jus (well, actually, it was just over-concentrated beef bouillon) was 100% inedible. Somehow the cheese was unmelted. These are all things I could have informed our server of...had she ever come back after delivering our food. The menu is perfect with everything from delicious burgers, salads & club sandwiches to a wide array of entrees (grilled salmon, steaks, tacos & pasta dishes, chicken pot pies). The good: The amazing views, free parking, food "pretty" decent despite what other reviews say and variety is good. Never busy so can always get a seat. The bad: Overpriced ie the Caprese appetizer $10 for a tiny portion? Cocktails- weak in both uniqueness, price and taste. Cocktail menu too big, cut it down, so many similar and the bartenders need to make good drinks for the price they charge for them. The ugly: The service is really not good, the servers are nice enough but have no idea how to sell or talk about the menu. Our group asked some questions none were answered. Know your menu... is a must in any restaurant but I don't blame the servers, the management or lack of is to blame. Lunch here was absolutely delicious! The roast beef au jus sandwich (French beef dip) has two large halves with cheese and hot-cooked-to-order French fries. Today I had the sweet pulled pork sandwich with marinated onions. It was super flavorful served on a soft warm bun and also comes with very delicious fries. This food also comes with a superb view of the National Monument. Our sandwiches were $15 abs $16. So worth the price and view. A much better choice than 5 Guys Burgers. read more

Went to the Mother's Day Brunch and was very disappointed. Half of the serving trays were empty and the food was no hot, not even warm. This is such a special event but it appeared this establishment was very unorganized and not prepared to put forth the effort to make it a delightful brunch. My bill included a $3 surcharge for a better, but not high end bourbon, and $2 additional for putting it on ice cubes. Nuts. 2. The food? Nice atmosphere, but let's face it, it is bar food, and rather ordinary. No problem...until you get a salad that looks like it came out of a Walmart bag, and very ordinary food... 3. Want to walk out with a bad Manhattan (for $20), another drink, and a glass of box quality wine that is no longer $6, but $8, a couple of burgers, and a $120 bill with tip? This is the place. Yes, yes, everyone is on the raising price bandwagon...how much is gouging, or legitimate? Who knows. But, ultimately there is one question: does the value equal the bill? I'm giving one star because you can't give no stars and the view on the patio is amazing. I was in from out of state to visit my family that live in Fruita. We went on a Saturday night and it was prom night so it was busy. The service wasn't great and we waited almost two hours for our food. We didn't mind too much because we knew it was busy and we were talking and enjoying each others company. We finally got our food and it was amazing. We were so happy with the food that we decided to go back before I flew out and give it a try, hoping the service would be better. We waited just as long for our food, which again we were ok with because we knew how good it was going to be. We all four ordered the same pasta dish that we had the previous time. It was cold and they ran out of the pasta that we ordered so there were literally two noodles on each of our plates. They played the old trick of serving it in a smaller bowl and put a hard cold crostini on it, to cover it up. The "lead" for the night who was our server and the bartender was disrespectful and rude when we complained about it. They definitely lost four customers and we will be sharing our experience with everyone we know. I would highly recommend passing on this place. It was awful. read more

We took my mom for an early Mother's Day lunch and very much enjoyed the experience. The menu is a lot more interesting and diverse than most of the eateries in this area, coming from California originally I appreciated that. Portions were of a healthy adult size (not too much nor little), it was very fresh, turn-around time was acceptable, the staff were nice and helpful. Prices were pretty much in line with other establishments of this sort in our area. The scenery is very nice, it's a bit of a drive from the center of town but as a result is not packed all the time and the vibe is relaxed. Definitely going to get repeat business from us. read more

Disappointing... Having such high hopes, the disappointment was that much worse. my wife's comment regarding the 'grilled shrimp salad', "I could get a better salad at Wendy's!" So far, we have been here for and two hours after our 6:00 reservation... We have been served sympathy chips and salsa and were told our fountain drinks will now be on the house. When we asked where our food is, we were told with great snark, that they had over 100 people come at once. We had a reservation. I completely understand that it is Prom night and it i crazy busy. The wait staff has been doing their absolute best. But they are SEVERELY understaffed. Which amounts to bad management. Hopefully the food makes up for the wait. I may update later. Update: the owner came to check on us and she is comping our entire meal. She was kind and understanding and said they are now rushing our ticket. I live in Redlands Mesa and have tried this restaurant multiple times. The menu hasn't changed a bit. The food is over priced for the amount you get- I still leave hungry after each meal. Get a new menu and lower your prices if you're going to serve child size servings. read more

Will definitely golf amazing course but not hit the clubhouse for food. Ordered a Lobster Roll $16.50 came with chips and a Hot Dog that came with chips as well using the GPS on the 7th hole. 40 minutes later on the turn it was not ready, waited 15 minutes for a not pleasant lunch. Got out to the 10th hole and looked in the bag. Lobster was dry, bun was not toasted and no to/go condiments in the bag. Hot Dog was not good either the bun was super thin and so soggy, yuck. 10 boring 60 year olds stopped in for a drink and lunch after golf. There were maybe 2 tables of customers in the entire restaurant. No one at the hostess stand so we went to the empty porch. We pulled up chairs and sat down. The person in charge stormed out and lectured us on how busy they were. We were lectured over and over about moving chairs. Love the golf course but recommend you skip the restaurant (unless you're just grabbing drinks to sit on the patio). We've eaten here many times and have experienced highs and lows with the restaurant in terms of food and service. Our most recent visit for brunch will be our last. Made reservations and were seated in a timely fashion. Ordered and received drinks right away. When drinks were delivered we ordered food. The server kept telling us our food would be out soon. We waited over 60 minutes before the food finally came out. Not a huge deal to us except ALL the food was cold. Ordered belgium waffle and it was dense and ice cold (like it was premade and left to thaw, unsuccessfully). Eggs benedict was cold with hard boiled eggs instead of over easy and could not cut through the english muffin. Biscuits and gravy-lukewarm. Huevos rancheros were not terrible but cold. Hash browns were cold for everyone. Made to order eggs and omelet were only edible items. So for 2 meals out of 7 that's pretty inexcusable (especially after waiting an hour). We told our waitress and asked to see the manager right away since we did not want to wait for fresh food. Sandra, the GM, came over and was very unprofessional and did not even apologize. She made every excuse about the food (mind you the restaurant was only half full). She did take off some of the food from our bill but made us feel bad for complaining. Most of us couldn't even eat our meal. I would be pretty disappointed if I were a member here and this is the food and service you get. I'll continue to golf but will not be supporting this restaurant under this GM. read more

We've eaten here before and it was fine. There is a nice view of you sit outside. Today we both ordered Huevos Rancheros and something wasn't quite right. There was a sweet taste.
