I had Jeff come out to work on my Kenmore Washer, I told him that it was leaking oil, at first I thought it was only a little bit of oil but we looked under the unit and bam! oil everywhere. So from what it looked like I would need a new transmission. Jeff ordered the part and came out the next day to fix the washer, upon taking apart the washer he noticed that the screws to hold the motor were not in place, the motor couplings were bad "it was a 25+ year old washer I'm surprised it lasted that long" and that the Agitator was also busted. I can attest it was not working the way it should before so might as well get it fixed and I was expecting a fee for this but he threw in the Agitator for free along with a knob for my washer since my old one broke and he lumped in the motor couplings with my original estimate so no additional labor charge. Now once the washer was back together he noticed the frame was bent, I can also vouch for this being legit because sometime in the past we had our floors done and the washer was never the same. He spent time to bang / bend the metal back into place so the frame fit snugly no extra charge either. He also helped me clean the oil off the floor and tidy up before everything was sad and done. So yes I will be using them in the future as my mom did before yelp existed. read more

Sad to know that there are businesses like this out there, especially in our neighborhood. But compare them with so many good businesses that work with their customers when there are glitches. This company probably saved our house from a fire. The typical brain fog that accompanies being a sleep-deprived parent can probably excuse why I'd forgotten to have our dryer vents de-linted for a while...something like 7 years...I can't remember... The dryer was being a jerk. I seriously considered that it may be possessed or something the way it made loud banging noises and took 1.5 hours to dry a load; but I'd gotten used to it after this had all gone on for a while, until I read an Ann Landers column that warned homeowners about the hazards of failing to clear out dryer lint. Then the politically -ncorrect tungsten light bulb in my noggin lit up hesitantly, as if to apologize for being so unreliable. So instead of calling a priest to perform an exorcism, I looked on Yelp for a local appliance repair place that could handle the problem. The guy that showed up the next morning couldn't have been better! Not only was he uber cool in that favorite-uncle kind of way, but he actually fixed the problem. I never once felt that he was trying to pull one over on me or padding the bill; just fair, straightforward assessment of the job and some kind advice to get the dryer vents cleaned regularly every two years. He also took a look at our washer inlet hoses and replaced them for a low price. Our dog also gave his stamp of approval to the repair guy by bringing him every kind of ball and dog toy in the house (dogs just know things about people, they're great judges of character). Then, just like in the movies he donned his hat, patted the Lab, and said farewell. My dryer is much improved and SILENT. It finishes a load in 20ish minutes. Fire safety and Peace are restored to our happy home. Learn from my near-tragedy! Keep those dryer vents clear. There was enough pulled out of ours to stuff a small futon (okay not literally..). They are absolute crooks! Don't call them. I had a broken fridge and called them for repair. the guy came, did a couple of tests and said it was the main circuit board and told me it would cost $475 to replace. I was shocked and said no thanks I'll do it myself and paid him the $85 for the visit. I bought the board for $120 online and installed it. Nothing happens! the main board wasn't even the problem. I found out later from YouTube that my problem was the power board instead. I remember even asking the guy are you sure it's not the power board? He said no it's rarely that, without even testing for it. Can you believe it? He didn't even confirm the problem and wanted to charge me almost $500 to replace something that wasn't even broken! We graciously accepted a hand me down side/side almond colored beast of a fridge from my in-laws upon buying our first house. It had a pretty great icemaker in it with a broken dispenser (no biggie) until one night it started making strange noises which included knocking and hissing and then stopped making ice all together. Trust me when I say you can google that sh*t as long as you want but you wont be able to DIY fix an icemaker. Anywho-I decided to give OCWS a try after seeing they were close to my house and also do a rather inexspensive service call to check out the problem (why everyone thinks in-house estimate calls should be free in this world I will never know, company still has to pay gas and overhead and hourly rate for this!) Long story short, Jeff came over and fixed my icemaker with-in an hour, charged me a decent price and even got the dispenser arm working again, free of charge! I like it! We learned a lessen- that it's much better to fix an old trusty well-made appliance than to go buy a new cheapo one. My Kenmore dryer recently stopped heating. I found these people on the web and did not check with Yelp before I called. I called them and they up an appointment for the following day with a four hour window. The lady that set up the appointment and called me the next day to say I was next on their list was very nice. No complaints at all with her. The service guy named Jeff showed up and I explained what the problem was. I went with him to check to make sure the exhaust hose wasn't plugged up. It wasn't. He removed the lower panel from the dryer and it was absolutely full of lint. The dryer is eleven years old and we didn't know it needed to be taken apart and cleaned. Jeff said it should be done every two years. It also showed evidence of something having burned. At this point Jeff said that he needed to replace the gas valve coils. He said it would cost $435 and he would charge an additional $65 to clean all of the lint out. I told him for a couple of hundred dollars more I could buy a new dryer. He then offered to clean the lint for free if we had him replace the coils. I told him no and that I would buy a new dryer and paid him his $85 fee to come out and diagnose the problem. As he was leaving I asked how much of the $435 was for parts and how much for labor. He said that the parts were very expensive, about $250 and that it was a tough job to replace them. After he left I went online to a place where I had bought parts for my Samsung refrigerator and looked for dryer parts. They had the two coils (which are really the outer parts of the solenoids). I ordered them for $15.15 plus $1.44 tax and $9.50 shipping - $26.09 delivered. It took two days for them to arrive. In the meantime I spent about 45 minutes cleaning all of the lint out of the dryer. I thought just for fun I'd try it after it was clean. It worked fine. We did a few loads of laundry and it never skipped a beat. The parts arrived yesterday. I figured the old ones were eleven years old even though they were still working so I replaced them. It took me 20 minutes. Everything is in the front under the panel that Jeff removed. Take out two screws, pull off the old coils, put on the new ones and replace the screws. Jeff was going to charge me $435 to replace the coils that really didn't even need to be replaced. That was $250 for the parts I bought for $26.09 delivered and $185 for labor (admittedly, $85 of that was the initial service call which he would apply to the total). It would probably taken him 10 minutes to replace them since I assume he's done it before and I haven't, so his rate would be $600 per hour. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere if you need appliance repair. read more

The repairman was nice enough, but complained the whole time he was attempting to remove my dishwasher from under the counter to repair it. It took a long time due to the fact I had a kitchen remodel done and they built my cabinets custom around the dishwasher. He kept telling me it was not worth his time to make the repairs. He did have to remove some molding. He gave me an estimate of $300 to repair it and said he had to take it to the shop to be repaired and I would not have it back for a week. In my experience, he should have had the parts to repair it with him. I decided I did not want him to repair it and then he slapped me with a bill for $225.00. So I paid that amount of money for nothing but to listen to him complain of how hard it was to remove it. He then made it sound like he was doing me a big favor by pinching the hose off from the garbage disposal drain so it would not leak. Well, that lasted about 2 hours.......big water leak found under my sink. I am just not happy with the whole situation. Hope you have better luck. Was this considered labor, cause I see in your ad that new customers get a 10% discount on labor......if it wasnt, then why was I charged the $225.00 for. We had a broken washer and he fixed it with care and expertise, and gave us sound advice on how to avoid potential problems in the future. Jeff and I talked for a bit after he fixed it, and what an incredible, helpful, and caring person. I'm young and starting a business in music, and Jeff had some great advice for avoiding pitfalls as a nascent businessman (he is self-made). He was also very knowledgeable about how to properly run a website. This was all on his own time. I appreciated it greatly. Please look at all of the previous reviews. This guy "Jeff" has a horrible and obvious pattern. He came to my home on January 25, 2017 to repair my oven. He had to remove the oven and oven door to repair. He repaired the oven and I paid him $425.00. After he left my home and as I began to wipe off the oven door I immediately noticed a scratch and dent on the door. Within two hours after him leaving my house I called him and advised him of the damage. He denied causing the damage and would not even return to my house to look at to further discuss. When I talked to him about replacing the door he later lied saying a replacement door is not available when In Fact they are for $450.00. He refused to replace my oven door saying that I can order the door, he would not pay for it but would install the new door for an additional $150.00. During our conversations he was extremely rude and confrontational also saying that he hurt his back fixing my oven and had to go to the chiropractor. I wanna start by saying that I used yelp for my decision to have Jeff (the owner) come out and have my parents refrigerator diagnosed. Sometimes yelp isn't perfect and that's fine. One thing that I wanted to make sure of is that for 65.00 dollars I will know "exactly" what is wrong with the refrigerator which the dispatcher said was the case. So Jeff says it could be the computer board not letting it get cold or it could use a charge to make it cold. That is not "exactly" what is wrong and he said he would need more money to check refrigerant. I understand that nothing is free but when I was told that I would know "exactly" what is wrong and not it could be this or that than I have a problem! So I ask Jeff to return the 65.00 that my Dad who is broke and can't afford to lose that kind of money when not knowing "exactly" what is wrong and he says no. And by the way he constantly cuts you off while speaking which is fun. So here is where it gets good, I tell him that it is not fair to my Dad that He be charged when I still don't know "exactly" what is wrong with the refrigerator and that I will express this on yelp. Jeff is a horrible man. Think twice about agreeing to his repair. Yes, it seems he does know what he is doing and can repair my oven and other appliances. However, at what cost. He quoted me $700 plus tax (?). Come to find out that meant tax on the price of the part he charged me. He charged me 400 bucks for the part which later I found out I could pick up at supply house for about $125. I was taxed on $400. Shameful. He also said that his labor is $300. I am very pleased with OCWS. I called them to come out and repair my GE refrigerator due to the freezer temperature not working properly. The technician was on time for the appointment. He quickly diagnosed the problem and I felt that he was very trustworthy and knowledgeable. He even gave me tips on my other appliances to help extend their life. Well what can I say. Definitely a good company. Courteous receptionist who made sure I knew what time the tech was coming. The tech named Jeff was very nice and informative. It was my wall oven that was malfunctioning, thing would not turn off I had to cut the gas. He said it could have been the thermostat but he needed to check out the oven first. Turns out it was the knob control instead, which was a much simpler fix. He did discover the ignitor was slow, said it will still last a while, but I insisted to go ahead and replace now so he did. He did not try to sell anything I didn't need. In fact, a few things I thought I'd like to replace like the gas connection and a touchy time display, he said I didn't need it, don't waste money! Very good, honest advice. The price for my new pretty knob and ignitor was reasonable too. I am very happy with the service. In a side note, I'd like to ask the reviewer named Debbi L. if she thinks things can always be diagnosed sight unseen and over the phone because if they can, next time you have a pain in your side simply look up that symptom on the internet, what medication is usually given for it, then call a random doctor's office and tell them you know what you have and you have the name of the medication for it. Then of course, insist they promptly mail you a prescription and see what they say. I have lived in my house over 30 years and never has a repairman given me a diagnosis and estimate over the phone when it comes to electrical, plumbing and appliances.
