My son and I stopped by at around 1pm on a Friday and there was plenty of seating. Its a cute diner type of setup with comfortable booths. Service was nice and appropriate. II ordered a coconut themed cocktail which was just ok. We also got a Belgian waffle and a kids sized soul in a bowl as well as blueberry chicken sausage. The waffle was great. Nicely crisp and sweet. Kids poutine was a perfect size for me actually. Loved the bacon pardons but not so much the hollandaise. Blueberry chicken sausage...I dont even know why I ordered that. Mid-level service, price tag too high for the end product. OEBs in general have their process and business model polished but they lack the special something of the kinds of more inspired places that they try to emulate. Some places have a soul, this place has a great location and ok food (in fact all of their locations are great) but is a bit less of a special experience. I think I'd opt for a greasy diner, or the more food forward places rather than return but I feel like this place might please a mixed group and would be good for that. read more

The restaurant was pretty busy even at that time but we were lucky to be seated immediately. We had window seating シ We ordered a Classic Breakfast (2 eggs w/ potatoes and pork bangers) and a Threesome (2 eggs w/ Canadian bacon, and pancakes). Coffee and OJ for our drinks. So the Canadian bacon is different from our American-style bacon and is actually ham. They came served sliced in rounds. It was good but (for me) nothing beats our bacon which comes from pork belly and has more fat LoL! I also had a piece of the maple pork bangers (classic English sausage)... rich, juicy and sweet, it was different. I can't really compare it, it was the first time I've had these English sausage. The herb potatoes had a crisp edge which I liked. The ketchup was a good compliment but the potatoes had enough seasoning that you didn't really need it. I really liked the buttermilk pancakes. Was it my imagination but it had some crunch in them pancakes? Customer Service was okay... had to flag for a glass of water, never really came by except to seat us and when it came time to pay (which was a different gal that processed our payment with those credit machines right there at our table). I would like to take the time to update my experience at this restaurant. During my first visit, it was not what I expected, and I left a negative review based on that experience. However, I believe it is only fair to recognize when things change for the better. This time, the experience was simply magnificent. OK SO poutine is a Canadian classic and if we're honest, costco does a pretty darn good job at it. but OEB makes ELITe poutine. delicious and hearty ingredients on top of the classic fries, cheese curds, and gravy. you can get short rib or lobster or whatever other wold combination they have! there's also a ton of other great breakfast options but the poutine is stellar. it's also in a beautiful area to take a walk around when you're done, or visit other stores nearby. read more

We loved OEB we went twice in one weekend. This visit was on Marine Drive location. The patio is roadside but a very short walk to the waterfront. Recommend leaving enough time to walk out along the pier and waterfront. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. We had a large dog and they set up a table for our group of 6 with our Great Dane. Everyone loved their food. We had some vegetarians, Gluten free and one with dairy free. Food was scrumptious as expected. The poutine has so much good flavor. Super tasty brunch in a nice atmosphere. It gets busy but I made a reservation ahead of time on Yelp. There's also a wait-list you can check in to minimize your time spent standing around waiting. I was able to reserve a patio seat and bring my dog which is awesome. The patio is heated and covered. I had the Get Shorty Rib poutine with half potatoes half arugula - it was a large bowl, very filling. The curds, wild mushrooms, beef, and brown butter hollandaise come together for such a nice flavour. My partner had the A-Lott A-Laks Poutine (laks and capers). Just what we wanted! We were in town for Easter and were looking for a good brunch spot. We came just after 10 on Easter Sunday and didn't have much of a wait for a party of 5. Our table tried a number of scrumption options. The short rib poutine was a hit, as poutine was on the weekend agenda. Breakfast poutine? Even better. My grandson ordered the belgium waffle, it looked amazing and I was able to snag a bite, delish. The table ordered a crepe, it was quickly devoured, just the right amount of sweet for all of us. I ordered a healthier option, and was definitely jealous of all the other options but it was very much enjoyable. It was our second time in Canada recently and second time at OEB. OEB restaurant has many locations but this one in Ambleside is my favourite. It's right next to the beach so when you're done with your meal you have the option of walking off your food by taking a lovely seaside stroll! The Big Ahi Tuna Burger Confit de Canard Breakfast Poutine Belgian Waffle with Whipped Cream Baba Ganoush Crostini Honey Lavender Oat Latte Iced Latte Grandma felt that there could have been more duck meat in her Confit de Canard Breakfast Poutine. The amount of duck meat that was given to her was somewhat scarce. When our server took our orders, I was given a choice of "medium" or "well done" for my egg. I chose medium and so the egg on top of my Baba Ganoush was more solid than I would have liked. When it comes to eggs, I really prefer my yolks on the softer side. If I'd been more quick witted I might have spoken up and asked whether I might have a 3rd choice of having my eggs "soft" instead of just "medium" or "well done." Better yet would be if the server had offered me that third choice right from the beginning. Aside from my egg yolk being more solid than I'd have liked it, my Baba Ganoush Crostini was packed with flavour and I thoroughly enjoyed it! We stopped in for breakfast the other morning and ordered 2 classic breakfasts which were excellent and perfectly prepared . The space is very clean and nicely designed. At first the service from Emma was quite good, but then she disappeared towards the end of our meal. We were ready for the check and she was nowhere to be found. Finally, I went up to the counter where she was sitting down eating a full breakfast at 8:30 ( for a place that opens at 7AM). She totally ignored me when I asked for the check. The other waiter on duty did come over with the check at that point, but was not well versed in customer service or basic people skills. There appeared to be no manager or supervisor on duty. Eventually got a table outside for 3 of us after 40 minute wait. The person who seated us offered us water and took our coffee order, but forgot to bring water. 10 minutes later a server took our food order. Still no coffee until the table nearby, seated well after us received their coffee. So we asked the person seating us about it. She said she'd check with our server. Update: The GM contacted me. I spoke to the GM and appreciated her response. We did go back and this time they were lovely. ------------------ Always crowded, but many times worth the wait. Fresh food, great flavours, great servers. However, here's the weird thing. I believe OEB thinks they're better than their customers. One time, when I returned a dish twice, because it was cold (Bulgogi Benedict) the manager told me to sit down and be quiet. Seriously. The first time I returned the meal, I grinned and bore the re-fire. Stuff happens between the kitchen, the pass and the table. It just happens so I'm not a jerk. The second time I took the plate back to the manager who told me to sit down. I ended up with a bagel and cream cheese. Today, similar issue, but with an open sandwich called "double trouble" or something. It was bacon, two easy over eggs and arugula/tomato on a piece of nice toast with aioli. The eggs were room temperature and the bacon was cold and probably old from the warmer. I let our server know and she told me because of the tomato and arugula it was bound to be cold. I ate it, because the flavours were good, but was disappointed. Now, to her credit, the server gave us a gift card for a return visit. It wasn't what I was after, but that was a great gesture. I think what bothered me was the way she dismissed my concern, and gaslit me. Again, decent resolution but made me uncomfortable in the moment. read more
