Very poor service. You tip before the meal, and the results are what you might expect. The mediocre food takes forever to come out, the wait staff is totally uninterested in doing their jobs--I had to get up to refill my own water. When my food was brought to the table, the waitress said nothing to me and avoided eye contact. But she was very gregarious with her co-workers. I'm done using the iPad at the United terminal. You're better off at one of the sandwich counters where human beings are still somewhat accountable for their (un)professional behavior. Update: Holy smokes! Terrible. I paid $6 for half a grapefruit with powdered sugar expecting a nice lush red grapefruit with mint on it. It turned out to be a pale light brown grapefruit not cut up and no mint. I mean how can you mess up a fruit. For $6 you can't cut it like the picture. Wtf?!?!?! And my blueberry hibiscus iced tea was super small and not anything alike they described. I entered this virtually empty restaurant (should have been my first sign, but it was relatively early in the morning) and ordered a grapefruit and oatmeal. Had 40 minutes before my flight boarded, which I thought would give me ample time to get my food, eat, and make a leisurely walk to the boarding area. I asked about my order multiple times, but the waiter continuously claimed that they were extremely busy and it would be out soon (all the while there were only 3 other parties in the restaurant, all with only 2 people--7 people, including myself, in the whole restaurant). The grapefruit came out after 35 minutes looking nothing like the picture (not precut, just a grapefruit cut in half and put on a plate--a process that should have taken 5 seconds at most) and the oatmeal came out lukewarm 1 minute before boarding. I would have sent it back, but because it had gotten so late and I had to run to catch my plane, I ate two bites and just left. A waste of time and money. Will never be back. They automatically charge 18% tax when you order, not after you experience the restaurant. Waiter says it is policy. My policy is to never return. the hip club music was so thumpin' that it reminded me of standing outside a hip club unable to get in... but they let me into Oeno, so named because you say Oeno! when you hit the wrong buttons on the ipad, Oeno! when your slightly more expensive than necessary food comes out different than the menu, Oeno! when you find out there's no mustard on that beat, and Oeno! when the crisp panini scrapes off the roof of your mouth (aka the Capn Crunch Effect). Ok, I admit I do miss Vino Volo (used to be at this exact location right?) but Oeno does a pretty good job of giving me a place to enjoy wine and munchies before the flight. Price is high, but it's airport.. Where stores are allowed to charge $5 for a bottle of water. A lot of people seem to be hating the iPad ordering system, but honestly, I think it fits the environment. During the first visit, I did find the app a little confusing, but managed to figure it out. For the second visit, as soon as I was seated, the manager(?) approached me to ask if I was familiar with the system. I saw some people needing help and the staff seemed very helpful. If you were able to make the switch from paper ticket to e-ticket, you should be able to handle this change. See, if I have 1 hour till boarding, I would love to just order when I want, get my stuff and leave. I'm here ordering food and the only way to do it is through an iPad. No one greets you and when I have been sitting for over 15 minutes they have to go find my food. Food is average. The wine selection is nice and my sandwich was tasty, but this is the dumbest concept for an airport bar. After staring at my computer and phone all day, it's nice to have a friendly face take my drink order and make a recommendation. I'm forced to put my own order in like I'm the server and swipe my credit card. My drink sat empty and the bartender didn't even ask me if I wanted anything. I assumed I hit submit on my order but I guess I didn't. I've been a restaurant manager before and this isn't helping the bartender serve more customers. Neat place in great spot in Terminal C. Staff is super friendly and helpful - especially for us first time users. Pricey drinks but expected at EWR. Everything is done via their iPads and credit card or United miles. Entertainment via the iPad. Cool!! Drinks come fast. Good a bit slower. On top of bad food and service (chewy wontons with the tuna app and no follow up to see how the food was once delivered - not once), i looked back to see where I might find someone to speak with and saw a selfie being taken through the kitchen door. I would generally be annoyed as customers were clearly waiting while the waiters did this...but the bigger deal was that the selfie was being taken with the chef, who was actively preparing food with his gloves on! So, gloves were wrapped around the shoulders/uniforms of the waitstaff. And then, presumably back to preparing food. Bad food, bad service, bad judgement, and poor cleanliness. I missed my flight, and I sat at this bar to grab a drink and was having trouble with the iPad, but Ricardo saw I was struggling and he helped me through the whole process and was super engaging. Don't come here if you are looking for a reprieve while traveling. The service and food were pretty underwhelming. First, all ordering is via iPad, and the credit dongles do not work well. When I asked for help, one of the staff indicated that she knew they were finicky, but no one thought to approach and help even though the restaurant was dead when I arrived. Second, the sign with food options outside the door was not up to date, so the sandwich I came in for was not available when I was entering my order. Third and fourth, my wine glass was dirty, and the sandwich I received literally had one piece of cheese and a single kale leaf on it. It looked nothing like the menu display and was missing listed ingredients. Fifth, I ordered a hand sanitizer and did not receive it. I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars mostly for their service. I've been here twice now. The food is good and reasonably priced in comparison to the other restaurants in the terminal. I've always left satisfied and happy. The service however is exceptional. I've spent a lot of time passing layover doldrums here and have watched many travelers come in. Confused by ordering on the tablet? No problem! Ask for assistance and they are more than happy to help. I've watched the staff here being asked time and time again the same questions and they always react with the utmost respect. The employees are consistent and are sure to make your experience enjoyable if you allow them. And if you stick around long enough, you'll probably leave with a couple of truffles! read more

Seems like this is the new popular thing in Terminal C at the Newark airport - order via iPad and your food/drink is simply delivered to you (negating a tipped server position). Oeno's already grossly inflated prices are further padded by an automatic "gratuity". BTW, it's not a gratuity if it's automatic. One bottle of wine and an 18% tip to someone who simply unscrews the cap for you. . . I will not make this mistake again. Paid $50 for an $8 bottle of wine. I was so underwhelmed. If you had wowed me with service and atmosphere, maaaaybe. . . but my table was dirty/sticky, floors were covered in crumbs/food - what is the service staff here for again? Hire a busser to clean the place up. For this price you should expect better. Moreover, if you are dining with a companion, the iPads mounted vertically in the center of the table will obstruct your view and reach of your companion. This was pretty disappointing, as there are very few sit-down restaurants in Terminal C who do not feature this central iPad system. It's stupid, if you ask me.
