Bartender screamed at friends and I to leave the bar 15 minutes prior to the bar's stated closing time, roughly 5 minutes after we had ordered a smattering beers to try from said bartender (and generously tipping said bartender). Sad to leave a 1 star review because I've had good experiences here before, but this was very off-putting and we will not be going back. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a taproom. We came at 11:15 and ordered several beers. At 11:50 they gave the 10 min warning, but then continued to yell at us to leave. At first we thought it was a joke but then they continued to yell get out. The female bartender came to tell us to leave again at 11:53 and then fell as she walked over to our table implying she was either drunk or on drugs. She continued to yell at us even though it was 11:55. When we left they yelled at us that "this is how bars work" even though it wasn't closing time. I will absolutely never come back or even buy a beer from them again. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. It's really too bad because we were enjoying our experience up until then. Just completely ruined it for us. read more

Stopped in here to just grab some beers as a gift at 11 am and ended up staying an hour due to the amazing bartender! The Dino s'mores coffee stout cane highly recommended so I tried it and fell in love! The bartender also had me try the Known Nome and the Myshka. Both were amazing! Off Color Mousetrap is a great, no-nonsense taproom featuring quality and diverse beers. The space is quite large, so you never get an over-crowded feel like you may at other taprooms. The outdoor patio is also a plus - there is nothing better than sitting outside during a Chicago summer, sipping a delicious beer. It is not in an overly busy area of Chicago, so the patio never feels loud. You can bring your own food, so make sure to stop by one of the grocery stores nearby to grab snacks! read more

I'm not even usually a beer drinker, but everything I've ever tasted from Off Color Brewery has been phenomenal. How delightful then when we discover they have a taproom! The people are really friendly. They have a wide selection of not only their own brews, but a full hard liquor bar, wine, and cocktails. There's also a selection of options to take home, and merchandise with more art from the artist who draws their fantastic labels. It's clean and the decor is great (check out the tile mosaics in the bathrooms). Make sure to try the Dino S'mores. Seriously the best beer I've ever had! read more

Lovvvveee Off Color beers so was super excited about this. Great space! Off the beaten path a bit so wasn't super busy on a saturday afternoon. Staff was great and love the BYOF. They have smaller pours of most beers which is really nice but would have liked a flight option. Also, can you please add some hoppy beers to the guest beer list so my IPA-loving friends will come here more with me? (I know they have poor taste but I like them ). I will be back! read more

We visited the taproom on a Saturday afternoon. It was kinda slow, but that didn't deter us from having a seat at the bar and going over the beer menu. So many offerings! Off Color focuses on Belgians, sours, Saisons, and wheat ales with a twist, and they didn't disappoint. These guys know what they're doing. I started off with a glass of Tiny Pillows, a Saison that is out of this world. I could have drunk it all day, but in the interest of making the most out of our visit, I had the Apex Predator, a farmhouse ale that was outstanding as well. Don't let the styles intimidate you. Ask for a sample of you're not sure. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. And don't forget to get some to go! read more

My favorite thing about this place is how professional and hospitable the crew here is. More often than not the bouncer will open the door for you when walking in and demonstrates great respect for the patrons. The bartenders are always moving at maximum speed and are happy to answer any questions. Bring your own food and they will let you know where you can find utensils/plates/napkins. Plenty of space inside as well as an outdoor patio. The beer consists of a few staples and the rest is in constant rotation, no IPAs though! read more

I have been wanting to visit OCB for the past few years. I finally got my chance this December. They had recently opened this location and I took advantage and was as giddy as a school girl when I saw it pop up on my Yelp search. For those who may not have a palate for craft beer, fear not as they also have an array of liquor and provide a list of custom drinks to choose from. I have to give kudos to Erin (hope I spelled her name right). She kept us company and entertained our random questions. This place was everything I could have hoped for. I already love Off Color's beers, and have visited their charming little brewery, so I was prepared to love this place, and I did. Spacious, with good but not flashy decor, and a friendly staff. A great selection of the brewery's best beers, and they don't rush you out or pressure you at all. The DJ was playing some amazing '90s hip-hop, and while there's no food, it's just down the street from a Whole Foods so you can snack to your heart's content. Zero complaints and I'd go there again in a hot minute. read more

Great beer, good service, and BYO food. There's a shop up front at which you can buy six packs to go, as well as other merchandise. Since the interior is all hard surfaces, it was very loud and I had to raise my voice to be able to be heard by my friends across the table (thus contributing to the problem of it being loud). read more

Hey, this place is great. I love the attention to detail on the decor, especially the tiling! (Maybe dim the light above the cooler, though.) As always, Off Color has great beer, and surprisingly enough, the cocktails were also quite tasty. I am not really a beer drinker but of all the places I have been taken by my husband this one had the best menu by far. I about peed myself laughing. The brewers are my kind of people. The beer is great but the environment depends on what you are looking for. Surprisingly they do not allow babies after 4p which is kind of ridiculous. We had to sit outside in the cold because I had already ordered. Honestly the policy is really stupid and we won't be coming back. Plenty of other breweries that are more family friendly. read more

I enjoyed the space and the chill vibes. The server was able to explain a few beers to us and let us know what was most popular. I want to give it more stars but the greeter was very somber and not welcoming to me and my friends. Also the music they play gave me a slight head ache and it has some very loud tones of violin and trumpets that hurt my ear drum. I had trouble hearing my friends chat. I do like that they let you bring outside food as they only offer alcohol and it makes sense to allow something to soak up he alcohol. I would recommend and be back in hopes they don't keep playing the music too loudly. read more

As a well respected craft brewery, we were very excited to try some beers in the tap room. We arrived about 35 minutes before closing on a Saturday night and ordered a few beers to share. We had a relatively large group and spent a good amount of money (not to mention tipping handsomely). It began as a pleasant experience, until 15 minutes before the posted closing time of 12 midnight when the staff began kicking people out. This was not in a polite way, but rather by screaming at the top of their lungs "get out!" repeatedly. We still had some beer left so we politely noted that we had 10 minutes left until the posted closing time. The staff then got agitated with us and began loudly complaining about us and that we don't know "how a bar works." We were then forced out with about half of our beer unfinished and an even worse taste in our mouths. I was appalled by this experience and can't believe a business would ever treat their customers like that. I would not recommend this establishment to any person that wants to maintain their sanity. It's a shame that an establishment with very good beer and a fun vibe could be ruined by the abrasiveness and simple disrespect of its employees. read more

Went on a Saturday night with a group of friends. One of the least friendly staffs I've ever come across in my life. Very rude and made multiple inappropriate comments. I have visited family in Chicago several times and this is always a favorite spot to grab some good beer and enjoy what the city microbrewery scene has to offer. So we stopped in late one of the evenings for a beer before they closed, the selection and beers did not disappoint. Unfortunately the staff did, the manager on duty the night of 11/30 for the close handled a situation that started as a comment being made VERY UNPROFESSIONALLY AND RUDELY. They accused us of being drunk and threatened to kick us out and call the police after we were served our second and last beer for the night. They also refused to speak to us to diffuse whatever offenses had been made. At one point we were accused of taking a photo of the person serving us and told to delete the photo. This lead to a male staff member grabbing the phone out of our hand and refusing to return it. Ultimately there was no yelling or physical threat of any kind from either party but this manger did call the police. We left the situation wondering why everything was handled the way it was and why a comment or photo would lead to a 911 call. I have absolutely no interest in supporting this business any longer. read more

I was just here with a group of friends. I am posting this a few minutes after we were screamed out by a female bartender before the closing hour of midnight (the time stamp of this review should prove this). We ordered before last call, around 11:25, charged at 11:34 and left a good tip. My credit card receipt proves this. She began screaming that she would play Beyonce at 11:45ish, and then at 11:55 she tried to approach our table. She fell down, either from excitement or from being drunk, and then told us - with several slightly full beers on the table - that we had to leave. We thought she was kidding but she insisted, forcefully, we had to leave. Whatever Off Color's business practices are - I live in Los Angeles and work at a bar that carries their often great beers - this was completely outrageous behavior, toxic to would-be customers and offensive to people just trying to have a good time. read more
