Jean designed and installed a HUGE and complex solar environment in my class A RV and I've been very happy with everything these past six months. He also designed and setup the replacement of the three inefficient rootftop AC units to get us the maximum AC performance per Wh. I've added some pictures for all to see. If you want an RV solar project architected, instaltled and monitored, I'd say go nowhere else. Jean really proved himself with this one. HE even added 8 solar panesl to the roof of my car trailer and wired it such that the additional eight could charge my RV batteries while pulling the trailer. It works great and everyone that has seen it at the track is impressed with the install. The other businesses in the area will get you in and out in a day, but not sure that the install is custom to each RVs needs. I don't know if any of the pictures or reviews posted for off-grid rv are real or factual, but I can share my experience and it hasn't been good. I hired Off Grid RV to install a minisplit and solar for my RV. The specification was that I wanted the ac to keep up with the Lake Havasu heat and have enough solar that I wouldn't have to pay for shore power. Jean decided to put an 18000 btu minisplit in my RV that was less than the two overhead units I already had installed. I questioned him but was assured it would be more than enough. I later realized his sizing was based on square footage alone and didn't take into account the Havasu weather or the fact the RV was poorly insulated. We had to replace the ac with a larger unit- (haven't been refunded for either unit). Jean attempted the removal and installation of the new unit and decided to quit midway through indicating he wasn't capable of installing. I then had to call an ac specialist out to redo all of his work because he had mangled all of the line sets. The mount he built to hold the ac was rusting within a week and unsafe. Jean agreed so I had to hire another fabricator to build something. Now that we had to install a larger ac unit, I will have to pay someone to reinforce the mount as the new unit is larger and heavier. As far as the solar installation goes, I've been stranded without power in Glamis twice due to his programming and installation. He did make the trip out and got it running, but ruined both trips. I've had two different solar companies look at the wiring and suggest I don't use the solar until it is rewired. Basically, everything has to be ripped out and start over. None of the victron equipment is grounded per their recommendations, none of the equipment is fused, batteries aren't strapped and secured which can lead to wire fray and shorts when traveling. This has been an absolute nightmare and off-grid is not making it right. I will add more after the new solar company goes through the entire system for safety and performance and compares it to the parts and pieces I was invoiced for to see if it matches up. On top of it all, the solar wasn't able to keep up with the original ac and definitely won't keep up with the new one! read more

My solar panels died and I was looking for a reputable solar company. I read off-grid reviews and called. Jean was great. He came to me and looked over my system. He gave me several options from Minimal repair to a whole new install. He uses reputable equipment. His trailer has all the equipment installed and he can demo whatever you are interested in. Well I went for it all and I even got self heating batteries so when I'm in Aspen in the dead of winter my batteries will function. I am very happy with the install and the follow up and support I have received. I took the rig out for a trial run before my month long trip and I never once ran out of battery. I even ran the A/C for the dogs while I was at an appt, and I was able to check in on the temp. It did what I expected it to do and that's a good thing. I was worry free. The best part is I had questions about my system and Jean logged in and looked at everything and he was able to accurately answer all my question in a matter of minutes. I can log in myself and look at my system in real time including the temperature of my rig. I'm so happy I found an honest company who backs their work and product! I bought a used Fifth wheel that will be exclusively off-grid. I called Jean and he designed a fantastic system that will allow me to stay off-grid continuously. This project started in early 2022. I had many delays (My fault) that stopped the installation until the end of 2022. Even though I purchased the equipment already, Jean stored it at no cost until I was ready. Had Jean design a solar and lithium battery plus inverter system for our rig. Gave him our camping habits and what we wanted out of a system. A previous quote had components we didn't think we needed and we weren't confident in the installer's knowledge base. Jean very clearly explained everything and why he thought which components would work for us. It was very clear he knew what he was doing! We have now been on the road for a little over a week, been in several shade and sun conditions in various campgrounds and on the road and everything is performing perfectly for our needs. I bought a used 5th wheel and it's been a headache to say the least. My kids and I found ourselves stuck without hot water, heat, overhead lights or a refrigerator in the middle of a horrendous freezing storm. We lost the overhead lights first, then the fridge and ate out of the ice chest for a day and a night, by the time the hot water heater took a dump, I broke down into a puddle of tears. My sweet neighbor had tried to help me trouble shoot the issues but we hit a wall. Over the course of the two days I called **11** rv repair people and either got no call back at all or was told they would put me on the schedule and be out in a week or longer. I was literally in tears when I sent a text to Off Grid...he texted back immediately and told me he would be right out...then he drove all the way to Beaumont from Corona at night, in a rainstorm!! It gets better, though...he was on time, and figured out what the issue was within 5 mins!! He told me if I went to get a new marine battery at Walmart, he would put it in for me and then waited like another 45 mins in his truck until I got back. He put the new battery in and then checked EVERYTHING to make sure the kids and I were dialed in and good to go with all our basic needs met. When I first called they answered right away, scheduled a time for an inspection of the trailer to make sure what would fit ect. Was here on time. Gave quote that night and scheduled his first available day. Day of install he arrived on time, and finished install earlier than expected. Extremely clean work, high end products. It's hard to find a company that is as honest as they are. They Charge you for actual hours worked not an inflated labor charge and finish early. While camping in San Clemente,CA, we started experiencing classic rv converter issues (DC Power dimming and flickering) one day our converter stopped working all together, as well as all electrical power to one half of RV, including refrigerator. After calling several local RV mobile repair services and not having any availability, called Off Grid, not expecting to help due to the distance. Called me right back, and agreed to come out the next day. Arrived on time and diagnosed the problem as being a bad circuit breaker. Was very surprised he didn't diagnose a more expensive converter replacement, repaired the problem and was very reasonable with the cost, even after traveling a great distance and amount of time spent diagnosing problem. Also offered to return, at no extra cost to replace part he didn't have. Agreed to meet him as we pasted through Corona to save him time. He actually met us in a parking lot and replaced the part at no additional charge. Was pleasant and professional. Also honest and very reasonably priced. We were in the midst of installing a washer/dryer combo in our used, but new to us, Tiffin Phaeton RV when we discovered that the electrical receptacle designed for that appliance was dead, absolutely no power. So we had to stop the install to tackle that unexpected problem. And we did all the obvious to find the problem like turn the breakers off then on, etc. Nothing. So we called Jean of Off-Grid RV and he came in two days and within 10 minutes he saw what the problem was which was behind the electric panel. The wiring to the washer area had been cut by a previous owner, most likely because he didn't plan to install a washer. So Jean reconnected the important wire and relabeled everything, brought it up to date. Total time was about an hour. His fee was very reasonable. We plan to use him in the future to upgrade a few electrical things like install lithium batteries and install solar panels. Highly recommend Off-Grid RV!
