The staff was fine but the food was much to be desired. I got the Fisherman's platter (market price cost was about $35 this day) and it consisted of 5 medium sized shrimps, 5 medium sized scallops, 2 piece of tiny pieces (I mean TINY) of fish, some fries and cole slaw. The pieces should have been collosal size for the small quatities but it wasn't. It was very bland and not worth the money. The Mahi Mahi dish was not any better. The sauce was too sweet and the Mahi Mahi was dry. My son is 15 yrs old and he is an avid seafood lover. He was highly disappointed with the food. We will not be returning. I still left a tip for the waitress since it wasn't her fault the food was bad. I do not recommend this place. read more

Went here Sunday afternoon for brunch with family and friends. Parking is nearby, but the parking lot is packed. There was a nice reggae band playing when we went. I ordered the $15 scorpion bowl cocktail. It was pretty good (and strong lol). My sister ordered the chicken and waffles, the chicken was tenders (would have preferred bone-in chicken instead). We had a group of 5. It was pretty packed on Sunday. They have table service (we were extremely close to other patrons). The bar was large and packed as well. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, the music and the drinks. Friendly and attentive staff. Definitely recommend you try this spot out. read more

I might be a little generous giving four stars but I think it's an honest appraisal. Went for lunch yesterday. The service was very good although the food took quite a while to come out. The decor, parking, and facilities are all five star. The beer was NOT cold and there are no beers on tap, yet. I had fish and chips. The portion was quite large but I'd bet it was frozen and popped into a fryolator. The breading was just too perfect but tasteless like fish sticks or chicken tenders. I was hoping for fresh fish dredged in recently mixed, frying preparations. The product was ok, moist and natural tasting but not "off the boat" fresh. My buddies enjoyed their burgers and we all had a good time. So expensive for what it is, got my order wrong out the gate, and somehow the bartender thought he was outsmarting me because they ran out of pumpkins head and he offered me Sam Adam's seasonal (Oktoberfest) but poured me a harpoon ipa and put a cinnamon sugar rim on it and didn't say anything about it thinking I wouldn't notice. I have now been to this wonderful place twice and it was even better the second time. Very nice bar and plenty of parking in the public lot right outside and no charge for parking. The Chowder is excellent and the broiled or baked Haddock dinner is the best that you will find in The Quincy area and beyond. The service was excellent. I also ordered a very good Caesar salad with my Haddock dinner. Nobody does it better than this place. I'm a Dorchester guy and I'm not far away from Houghs neck but I still consider this place a hidden gem. It's always crowded and it's obviously because people know. I met a friend after for a beer at The Fox and Hound. Very few people there on a Thursday night but Off The Hook far down on Sea Street was absolutely crowded. Every table and every chair at the bar were taken. I have not tried the Steak tips yet but they are Doms steak tips and I have been told they are a favorite. My dinner came with a very generous serving of mashed potatoes and a vegetable. I'm 66 years old and this place serves the very best Haddock I have ever had. Much better than the Clam Box or Tony's. I do prefer it baked or broiled. It's just better and healthier than fried fish. Of course I love Fish and chips too but this was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and go to Off The Hook sometime. Had high hopes for a Friday afternoon Fish & Chips lunch The fish was not fresh, it was not served hot and the side of onion rings was cold. My lunch mate ordered the fried Haddock. It was horrible and there are doubts as to what type of fish this really was. We ordered the lobster Rangoon appetizer. I believe these are a frozen item the restaurant purchases and drops in the fryalator. This was not a complicated order for what we thought was a restaurant that offered seafood "Off The Hook". I'm writing this review as I'm at the restaurant, the food was that good. We came here for the first time tonight, and will definitely be back. The service was absolutely fantastic, and our waitress, Selda, was so sweet and attentive. We started with the fried mushrooms with garlic aioli, and I can't remember the last time I had something so delicious. That set the tone for the entrees, as well. The haddock with panko and coconut was light yet filling at the same time, and the broccoli was steamed perfectly without being mushy. Came in on a Thursday night with a group of friends. Waitstaff was amazing, bartender was great and the drinks and drink menu were outstanding. We decided to order 3 entrees on the specials menu and they did not disappoint. We went with a chicken and shrimp pasta dish that was to die for, we also had a seafood fra diavolo that did not disappoint the sauce had the perfect amount of spice to it and lastly the sirloin that was tender, juicy and cooked perfectly and the garlic mashed were homemade and so delicious!! read more

Boy, am I happy the eight of us made an afternoon trip from Boston to Quincy! This opened the door to a wonderful experience at Off the Hook. If you are seeking an eclectic atmosphere, links to Quicy's past, and delicious food, this is the place for you. We stopped by at opening (3pm) on a Monday afternoon. We had three kids in our group, and they enjoyed their meals as much as the adults. Among the items we tried: excellent bruschetta appetizers, chicken tenders, fried fish platters(scallops, haddock, and shrimp), baked fished platters, lobster roll and burgers. Some of the members of our group orders mixed drinks, and could not stop raving about them. The servers were friendly and attentive, frequently checking in to make sure everything was ok. I also feel that the portions were large, and that we definitely received our money's worth. On the way out of town, I ran into the owner at a gas station, and had the opportunity to tell him how much we had enjoyed ourselves. He noticed me and had asked about our experience. I am very pleased to be sharing my feedback once again. I would love to return for another meal! read more

Hello everyone, I have been to Off The Hook multiple times and it is usually very good but today I was disappointed. I got myself a burger today and the patty felt like I bit into a hockey puck, the lettuce was UNWASHED and had dirt on it, it was cooked wrong, the bun was rock solid I was better off going down to Bernies and grabbing my own. This is a local restaurant who is trying to be more then a bar/pub that serves food. Went a few times and have had mixed results. The last time I went we got the bruschetta appetizer and it was to die for. Today we ordered it again and the best I could say it was fast. It did not live up to the last time. The bread was dry the little to no pesto and we had to remind the waitress it came with a balsamic glaze. We left over half of it between three of us. We ordered lunch and it was little if any better. We told the waitress out issues and she did nothing to fix them. We love the idea of a local place and wish that they fix the kitchen. We could see the ocean but we're served dry, frozen fish. The atmosphere was that of a loud noisy bar, not a restaurant. Conversation was difficult without shouting. Very disappointed. read more
