With the large open windows up front, the store has plenty of natural lighting, which gives it a cozy feeling. They sell a selection of soaps, spices, cups, bags, jewelry, towels, and a good variety of little knickknacks. They have these books that are made up to look like old leather bound tomes with cloth like paper that I thought was pretty neat. The staff were very friendly and made sure we were taken care of but didn't hound us while we shopped. My only comment is some items were a tad bit pricey, but that's pretty standard for the unique products that they sell. It definitely did not feel touristy, as some gift shops do, so that was very nice. Overall, if you're looking for something unique, rustic, or something with an Antioch Illinois flair, then Vintage Mercantile is a great place to stop in if you're in the area. When I inquire about a perfume that is out of stock - they order it for me and let me know when it's in. There is a lot of history in the Midwest and I've travelled around taking photos of old barns and cabins. While I'm not sure what I want to build with the aged wood, I can't help but want to fill my garage with as much as I can get. The shop is decent sized with a private parking area and there is a lot of stuff in the store. The front of the store has walls of siding, beams, shingles, and old artifacts found in the barns like tools and horse hardware. Everything looks so beautiful and the pricing is what you'd expect for the aged look. The rear of the store has an artistic room with home decor finished projects made out of the aged wood. I didn't see any giant lengthy beams but I asked and they have a warehouse up in Wisconsin where they store what you need. The staff was very friendly and willing to get you what you need. I'll definitely be back to load up on this beautiful wood.
