I want to take out a moment to give this Office Depot Grossmont location, a special "thank you". While I periodically shop for products there, I utilize the printing services quite often. I want to thank Nicolas for being very efficient and attentive. He does good business. The store has competitive prices. This is my #1 printing store, and I'm comparing that to other companies, and also, other Office Depots across Southern California. I want to give a shout out to Wayne. I'm not sure if he's a manager, but he seems to take on managerial duties. He talked me into signing up for the Business Select membership and I'm very happy that I did. It has saved me a ton of money because I do a lot of printing. There's plenty of work space to collate and organize your work and even self-help machines for when I just want to print on the go. I only met Ava one time. However, she gives top notch customer service!!! She listens, and she takes her time with detail. I really appreciate that you have her on the team. Various cashiers in the front have welcomed me into the store the moment I walk in. I wish I knew all of their names. They serve ALL customers whatever race, age, background. They treat everybody equally and with respect. They are also, personable. I want to add, for good measure, the music in that store is perfect. So shout out to the DJ that chooses the music. It's a really good vibe in the store. If I could give this store 10 start, I would, but the limit is 5. read more

I have been using this location for printing out photos. I went Friday to have some copies made. I went up to the counter. Another customer was ahead of me. As I heard the interaction between Nicolas employee and the lady it was more than clear he was not happy. I actually tried to break the ice saying smile its Saturday and you get to work. Stone face with attitude stayed in place. Nicolas. gave the lady her charge and she questioned the high price. Nicolas said to her there is a five dollar minimum she stated she had not known that he rudely came back dripping with sarcasm, it has been that way since 2018. She paid and left and I bet does not return. Now my turn.I gave him my pictures asked for one copy if each and that they be cut. I left the counter used the powder room and went back. Nicolas had the full sheet copies and stated it would be 15 dollars for cutting 6 pics. I let him know I have not had a cutting charge in the past to look up my rewards profile. No, well then they who did not charge you were not doing their job. As a result of his tone and mannerism I asked for the manger he stated he was so I asked for the district supervisors name number refused to give that I asked for the corporate number refused that, all with the same rude voice. He ended up looking for my originals asking if I had them I did.. he took my photos and said you can leave I am refusing service. During our interaction no raised voices nor foul words were used. This immature employee needs training the right thing to do was look at my profile see i had not been charged for cuts.. do the cuts free of charge nicely explaining the next time I would be charged. Came here after going to Staples at Rancho San Diego, because they were unable to do a simple task of printing a file from a USB, onto cardstock, and the same thing. They're open. Seem to be having an issue with the door. Both employees just standing there with no note, sign, hand gesture, that they're MAYBE having issues with the automatic door. I never leave bad reviews. I had such a bad experience here today. I went to get something printed and ended up being there for an hour. There was only one guy working to help about 10 people at the area where you can print. I noticed he kept using his walkie to ask for help- literally I saw about 5 other people working there just ignoring him. He was doing his best to help everyone but people were getting frustrated and yet no one else that worked there cared. Such a bad experience, I left without getting what I wanted. Okay so this starts off sounding bad but things shape up in a nice way. Being that it's the first day back to school for the entire SDUSD, it's not surprising some of the inventory was a bit hit and miss. And it did take some diligence to locate a floor person (two as things progressed) to help unlock some earbuds my daughter and I had selected. But the grandaddy of 'unfortunatelys' was that finding that/those floor person/s didn't seem to be the solution to getting our earbuds since she, then he, then nobody seemed able to find the key to unlock the earbuds we wanted to buy. So after the floor person (A. G.) did his best to find the key to no avail, check in the back for extra potentially unlocked inventory of which there was none, and finally direct me to other store locations which had my product in stock (however were nowhere on my path), I headed to the check out line thinking to myself 'I need to buy some more Amazon stock cuz there is a reason they are taking over the world.' A couple minutes later A. G. came and let my daughter and I know that he had found some unlocked earbuds that were not the same brand but were of similar quality and were 'on clearance' so we got out of line and followed him over. We picked out the new version and I noted that the pricing on the rack said nothing about a 'sale' muchless 'clearance' but they were unlocked so we picked two that were the same price as the others and we hoped were of similar quality... and headed back to the checkout line, where Eddie T. was waiting to check us out. A. G. was nowhere in sight so I figured I'd ask Eddie 'we were told these might be on clearance can you check' but before I could even ask he smiled and said 'oh don't you worry I got it, A. G. already told me to charge you $2 each'. I was shocked and thought he was joking but he was not. And Eddie was a sweetheart too, going to extra effort to make sure we were well taken care of. I felt like between them both we really were made to feel that it was important to the store and to them personally that we didn't leave with a bad taste in our mouths. That really felt nice. So there's something you will not get on Amazon... heck Amazon practically makes you promise them your first born in order to get a real human even on the dang phone! read more

I walked into Office Depot for envelopes and found FAO Schwarz of stocking stuffers for all! Like Office style FAO Schwarz for adults! They have online ordering with same day in-store pick up and a holiday themed area up front with silly gadgets. Knowing the store has what we need before we arrive is important with office supplies because you need to get the job done and spending time going to multiple locations is a time sink. We took the opportunity in person to try out the feel and padding width of multiple office chairs, found what we needed, but held off with the purchase before online price hunting confirmed that their website had a slightly better deal, you never know around the holidays there are sales posted all the time. read more

If i could give 0 stars i would. I've been coming here for awhile and the people at the printing booth are always ignoring customers and very rude. I went to do self checkout and there email Wouldnt send me a release code like normal. So i went to the desk and asked for help to solve this problem. I'm not sure her name but a younger black girl was extremely rude and said if i help you you're paying $2.50. I was nice to her the whole time. I asked if she would help me solve the issue so i could just pay the 12 cents at self service like normal and she goes no. I kept trying to explain to her the situation and she kept rudely talking over me saying no no no itself your fault ex ex. I asked for the manager and he to kept saying it's my fault. Ive never had an issue before and it's saying the email for my release code was sent but I'm not getting the code so it's not my issue lmfao. Whatever the inverse of quality customer service is -- that's what I received. Could they do the job? "Meh. Maybe. Maybe not. Not sure if we have the right size spiral binding. Leave it here, and AFTER we tear the book in half, we'll get around to deciding whether we can actually do the job, or whether we need to split the book in two and give you half a book here, half a book there." What??? Think of Hollywood's most stereotypical portrayal of completely disinterested DMV employees, and you're getting warm as to the vibe this guy and girl gave off. They make the rental car agent from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles seem like George Bailey in comparison. Bottom line: this disagreeable duo oozed apathy, disinterest, and a general disinclination to help. They instilled zero confidence that they have the competence or professionalism to do the job in anything resembling a proper manner. This is a great office depot. Their print/copy girl Cindy is very knowledgeable and fast. Cindy helped me print out some pictures however, I did have to come back to have them reprinted because I needed the mirror images of them for a project I was doing. The cashier is sweet but I practicality had to force her to allow me to sign up for their rewards membership. No harm no foul. I was also in the market to purchase a laser printer, no one had time to help me. I will keep this as my official spot as long as Cindy stays. Great parking and the store is spotless. read more

A good, reliable place for a lot of miscellaneous needs. I picked up a journal recently, but they have anything office or business related and usually a lot more too. Stuff can sometimes be difficult to find until you know the way around, and staff is usually good about directing you in the right direction. Something I always find curious is how old their registers and POS is. I guess if it works, there is no point in replacing it. read more

Worst customer service ever! I saw a desk chair I wanted in their Sunday newspaper circular. Clipped it out and went to this branch of Office Depot. I asked a sales representative to help me find it. After several minutes of searching and finally a call to someone through his earphone I was told this item won't be stocked and I would have to go elsewhere. I asked why and was told they won't stock the chair because their store is too small. Huh!? There was no offer to have one transferred. But worse, there was no apology. I've only been to this Office Depot a few times but I've always had great experience. Anytime I walk in, I am enthusiastically greeted by the cashiers and always helped promptly in the print department, where employees go out of their way to be of service. Definitely had that experience tonight, and really appreciate the care and time of the associates in the print department. I don't know, but I suspect, that the management team here is overall excellent. I think you can tell from the energy in a store whether employees are being micromanaged or empowered. I submitted a printing job at 9:00 a.m. this morning. I listed my cell phone for a text when it's done. No text all day. Came by the store at 5:30 p.m. to pick up my posters, and the print shop employee doesn't know what I'm talking about. Luckily, I had my email confirmation. I show it to him, and he looks it up. He finds it, but it hasn't been done. He calls the manager over to complain about the employee on the morning shift who didn't do it. They talk about it for a few minutes until I say, "I don't care who was supposed to do it. You can figure that out away from the customers. I just want my posters." The print shop employee starts muttering about how long it's going to take. The manager "accidentally" turned off the printer, and the employee huffs, "Now it will take 20 minutes to power back up." And now they can't load the paper. All of this fun, and the manager wanted to give me a 20% discount. Really? That's insulting. I've already paid, and I need it now - or I would have left by now. UPDATE: Same thing different day. RUDE employees and job not done at all. Told me machine was down all day. No call. read more

Almost always an unpleasant, if not downright miserable experience going to pretty much any Office Depot, but this is the only one I've gone to consistently when I have to have something from there. First, the staff always seems really unhappy & just waiting for their shift to end as quickly as possible. They're not rude or anything, but you can tell they'd rather be anywhere than there. My wife has a coworker that was a salaried manager from an Office Depot & they make their salaried managers (or at least did as recently as 18 months ago) work 6.5 days a week, with the half day being a 6 hour shift... no wonder they're always so unhappy when you're there. Pretty much every time I come here for something, either there's no price & you have to drag it up to the cashier & wait in line just to find out the price, OR the price on the shelf doesn't match the product you're getting & they won't honor the price on the shelf... they just say someone must've put it back in the wrong place (even though there's multiples of the same product in the same spot). The most infuriating thing is trying to check out! After you've already had to wait in line just to get a price check on something, unless you're ready to leave right then & there if the price is within reason, you have to wait in line again. Obviously you're going to wait in a line pretty much anywhere you go, but if there's more than 2 people in line, you're looking at a good 10 minute wait, & no matter how many are in line, they rarely call for extra help... I've waited up to 15 minutes just to pay for a couple items. read more

I don't think I would recommend this Office Depot if you're setting out to buy computer hardware and peripherals. I went there to check out a widescreen LCD monitor. Sure, I immediately found their display of different computer monitors. But getting a sales associate to explain the product to me took forever. Two sales associates ended up helping me, because the first one couldn't answer my questions. "Why are the letters blurry and stretched out? Does it have something to do with the monitor's quality?" "Um... we've got all these monitors hooked up to one receiver, so that lowers the quality of the image." Wrong. What the two sales associates failed to explain to me was that the computer the monitors were hooked up to had an outdated video card and therefore was incompatible with a widescreen LCD monitor. Now, I only knew about this fact AFTER I purchased the widescreen LCD monitor (yeah, I took a gamble). But those Office Depot guys don't know squat about how and why. The only upside is that they had the monitor at a very good price. Oh, and you can return computer-related stuff within 14 days without a restocking fee. I'll still buy copy paper from them, though. read more

I needed to print the flyer at the dimensions of 4 by 6 and had no idea how. It took trying a few things but Adrien took the time to figure it out. This store is amazing!! They have everything I need for school and for electronics and at better prices then Best Buy. From memory cards and head phones to pens and pencils my one stop shop and the new store manager Shane was amazingly helpful. The cashiers are friendly and fast and the store is clean and well stocked awesome job to all!! I just went there about 1 hour ago and the store was busy but everyone was friendly and helpful. The store manager Shane was assisting a customer with finding some things. Office Depot seems to be neck in neck with Staples in terms of cost for many supplies, but when it comes to ordering online Staples is the winner. This store needs to retrain their employees on how to interact with customers. I spoke with Airen on the phone in the photo section regarding some engineering prints I ordered online. When I asked her to explain to me the difference in the price, she didn't have time to explain it to me. she said she had other customers in the store and needed to get off the phone. She was very rude and tried to charge me $97.00 for 4 prints that I ordered online for $23.00. I spoke with one of the managers and asked him if he would rather get something, instead of nothing because I refused to pay $97.00. He said, this one time, he would allow it, but in the future, it would not be allowed. read more
