I try to avoid bad reviews and let go but this is an exception. Staff makes you feel like they're doing you a favor answering questions, but... let it be, maybe they're having a bad day. What got me though, was that they advertised free recycling for computer and printer, but... I had to purchase a box ranging from $8- $18, depending on the size. When I asked if I bring my on box do I have to pay, the answer was...Yes! I left. Went to staples on Sepulveda Blvd, near Costco. Mama Mia, what a difference! Kind associate, not a word about needing to pay a dime, nor buy boxes. Smooth sailing! Mario the guy who helped me made my day. It was worth the long ride to this store. I wanted to get a specific Sanrio/Hello Kitty 2026 Planner and they said they had it online at this location. So I came here, they have a small parking lot, but there is also street parking. I went in and all of the 3 staff members were busy so I searched myself for the calendar. When I couldn't find it, I asked one of the staff members and she took me to the spots where it should be but it wasn't there. I said they had it online here, so she looked it up to see if they could order for me, but right when I looked online again it said sold out. I was sad about it because it was a good price and exactly what I wanted. But at least the staff (that one lady) was very nice and went above and beyond to help me. read more

I would give a ZERO if I could. Let me start with the one bright spot, an associate named Cat. She tried her best to accomplish a very simple print of a 2-page PDF that is a card where the front side opens to an inside that must be right reading. The inside kept coming out upside down but she finally got a version out but not on the paper stock I needed. The manager who is the GOAT of useless managers stood by, ignored her plight, ended up kissing butt to a person who came in 35 minutes after me and needed a small poster printed. When I made him aware after he ignored the situation, that my job is having a problem he replied "well this person has been waiting patiently". I said incredulously "Patiently? He came in 35 minutes after I came in so let's define patience." Only after I made a huge fuss did he even attempt to help Cat but again threw her under the bus not overseeing a successful output. All hell broke loose with me saying "you ignored my comment of how the inside has to be right reading and you have ignored your employee (Cat) struggling". He then decided to try it himself and guess what... his version was wrong too. He left it for Cat to try to fix, never apologizing, and went back to kissing the other guy's butt asking about what sort of projects does he work on, (you know mining for business) which I would be OK with as I am in sales as well but to leave me hanging still? Not good! Needless to say before I left, I read him the riot act and said he was a failure as both a manager and human being, totally worthless. I feel sorry for anyone who has to work for/with him and any customer who has to deal with him. Inept, arrogant, rude and shoud be fired!!!! Avoid the frustration I experienced at this location! My recent visit was far from pleasant, largely due to an employee who not only failed to assist me but did so with an attitude that was less than professional. Saturday afternoon while in Tarzana, my husband suggested to stop by Office Depot to get ink cartridge for our printer. Upon arrival we were greeted with "2 minutes". My husband and I were confused. "Hello to you, too". We said why we were here for. The guy working at the store said they were closing in 2 minutes! So it was Amazing Race to get the right ink cartridge, pay and go. Looking around? We've been coming here for years and each time the managers are less friendly, do less work, boss around their associates, and are more rude to their customers. Make it make sense. Why was someone BEHIND me in line helped first? There was one associate to help but the manager kept commanding her around in the MIDST of helping clients. I wonder why they're short staffed. Not only are they rude and not helpful but also incredibly slow. We really hope you'll hire some better managers, the associates seem to think similarly, too. She was very cheerful and had a very pleasant demeanor about herself. I can't recommend this Office Depot location enough! The workers are so friendly!! Everyone at the store has their specialty, but they all are phenomenal when it comes to customer service! Nathan, Nicholas, and Tyrone were the people who helped me when I came in the store. When I tell you one person was printing items for me while someone else was showing the different options of printers and then someone else rang me up and they got me in and out of the store so quick it'd make your head spin! Then in my haste. I left my items, they went above and beyond to find my number from my rewards account and call me so I could get my items! Even offered to wait on me past closing to get them. His frustration was that he was trying to get the guys attention however the guy blankly ignored him. *This stores lacks the common knowledge and how to proper Prioritize.* Here's a few tips from someone who worked long hard years in customer service: -Greet every customer -Even if your busy acknowledge them and mention you'll be with them when you get a chance. - proper staffing needs to be in place so when you do get busy you can pull someone from the back or different department (which means cross training! The best retail stores knows this strategy) -know whats rude behaviors and not do them -multi task -when it's busy help multiple ppl and task by assigning "homework" to customers. ex here's the printing binder chose which one you like and in the meantime I have a few seconds to ring up this customer who's waiting. I went to this location to copy and print some documents. I didn't realize they close at 7pm. All of a sudden I heard some one within couple of feet of me say "you need to wrap it up we are closed". Very disrespectful behavior. Who uses wrap it up anymore??? Within maybe not even 30 seconds of this lady's instructions for having me leave the store, the gentleman said "I need to ask you to finish we are closed" What has happened to being nice??????? They rushed me so much I left my original birth certificate in the self service scanner trying to get out before they kicked me out. I am going back Sunday morning to pick up the birth certificate. Would give a four star review, small store with parking and has most items you would need day to day but there isnt as much variety as other office depots. Also, helpful staff overall except this one cashier (photo below), was being super racist talking to this elderly man and I could over hear both of them talking about me saying how I was a criminal due to my appearance. The cashier and the customer were having a great time coversating about all types of stereotypes and how "we" don't follow the rules anymore. All I did was look for ink cartridges for my printer at work and I was searching up what ink cartridge to use for it on my phone. The internet wasn't working inside the store so I walked in and out the store to get better reception. Instead of helping me out when she was already done checking out her customer she continues to go on stereotyping me and laughing with her customer. Tried to get oversized prints. Was not acknowledged by anyone in the store for 5 mins. While I was waiting nothing was being printed that was about 10 min. Then when acknowledged I asked how long it would take to print oversized and was told I would take 2 hours and that if I wanted to be bumped ahead of the line I would have to pay a fee. Again, nothing was being printed machines were in sleep mode. Do not recommend this store go to Staples. read more

Four instead of five stars because it's a tiny Office Depot compared to others, and so the range of products available is lesser. Everyone there is nice and what they have is stocked neatly. I've forgiven them for freaking out on me when I came in a few years ago without a mask. Some people, especially employees who have no say in their managers' decisions, are unfortunate victims of mass formation psychosis and the absurd belief that by my not covering my face with cloth they all might die. Anyway, I came in the other day to get some stuff including large trash bags, but it was something like $29 for a box with 70 cheap bags. I told a manager who was ringing me up, named Tyronne, that the price was too high, and he cut me a deal ($10 off) to make the sale. You know, I really appreciate his initiative and the fact that he's authorized to do that. Flexibility and common sense are too often missing from business transactions. So I enjoyed the convenience of getting the large trash bags I was looking for but without having to go somewhere else. We were told two different things from his store and another store, as well as what is online and he said over and over I was wrong and got hostile when I pointed it out online. He tried to charge me and tell me I made $12,615.48 worth of copies in two hours, equivalent to 88,623 copies. He told me I was lying and I had to give him my thumb drive so he could go one by one per page and count them. He ended up charging me double of what I actually made. When I called the customer service line in the morning to help me make the correction, they told me I had to go back in the store and speak with the same manager that was just rude and disrespectful less than 24 hours prior. I went in to buy some large boxes for my job. While waiting in line (no one behind me) I realized I had an item I did not want so I set down the boxes on the counter (someone was in front of me) and hurried to return the unwanted item and get back in line. Came back 10 sec later and a different customer was at the counter. I didn't expect my place in line to be saved, so I waited behind her. She had several tasks she needed done and was being very rude to the clerk David. He said he would help her, but that he wanted to get me out of the way since I had a quick purchase. She kept repeating what she needed done and asked angrily if I was there first. I told her actually I was but that it was ok and I'll wait. David was so patient and told her I was first and that he would take care of her after me. She got angrier, but he held firm. I felt so bad I even offered to go to a different line, but he took my payment efficiently and I was done paying less than a min later. Since I wasn't in a rush he could've let me wait but he did what was fair. I felt valued as a customer and that he was considerate of my time. Usually pretty good customer service however I am always offered a receipt when dropping off my packages. My shipping has always been through USPS. Today I asked for a receipt and was told they don't offer receipts for USPS .. which is fine, even though that has not been my past experience. James the manager and his co worker were talking about me on the little earphones they wear. While they were both talking and looking up at me, I let them know I could hear them and James responded , "I know". ... I understand it is a difficult time right now but this has not been my first bad experience with customer service with James.
