Somehow I am always surprised by what I can find at Smart & Final. I wouldn't say prices are like SUPER competitive, but still relatively affordable. Whenever I am looking for party supplies or even cookware in a pinch, I can always find what I need here. They have a decent alcohol selection and plenty of snacks. They have produce, but they don't have many organic options. You can also grab flowers and lots of themed goods depending on whatever Holiday it is. They have a good sized parking lot that makes it really easy to get in and out of there. Somehow there is always a line at check out. They don't always have that many cashiers working at once. I recently bought some duraflame logs here, but noticed they also sell real wood. Their in house brand First Street has a lot of decent quality products. read more

For context, this store is within walking distance of where I live so naturally, I go here to pick up things when I need them last minute. I have been here about 4 or 5 times in the span of the past couple months and every single time I ask an employee a question or speak to any of them, I get an attitude and they aren't helpful at all. Today I just asked an employee where the beef bullion were, to which she responded with "I don't know, check isle 2 or something" in an aggressive tone. The first time I came here I was trying to use a coupon on my phone and the employee told me I needed the app so I did that and asked him where it was to which he took my phone and told me that it's not there but didn't try to help me whatsoever and didn't give me the coupon either; just stood there and stared at me. I rarely write reviews but every time I enter this place I feel uncomfortable around the employees and leave feeling upset because of it. Shopping at Smart and Final is now more of a hassle than Costco. The hummus costs 50% more at S&F. S&F also lists stuff as being on sale when something is $4.90 instead of $5. That is not a sale item to me. It is not worth the hassle anymore. Usually only have 2 checker aisles open even when crowded. read more

The store is kinda small but it has a lot of good items. Everything is conveniently located in the store and the aisles were really well thought out and make sense as you are shopping around. They keep everything neat and tidy, including the fruits and veggies! The parking lot is mostly used for this store and is big enough to maneuver the large carts. read more

No matter what time of day you come here, there only seems to be one check stand open. Tons of employees running around but none of them working the registers apparently. I had a semi good review of Smart & Final and I deleted it after today's nightmare! I used to think so incredibly high of S&F and that came crashing to the ground today. SO... it was like any other night, and I decided to pop in and get my usual staples, sugar, oil, cat food, napkins, butter, and because it's Chinese New Year... PORK BUTT (bone-in) so hubby could make pork dumplings. I paid my bill, helped bag my groceries, chatted with the cashier, and left. As I was driving home, I was super excited to think, "YAY... DUMPLINGS!" Boy, was I SEVERELY mistaken. I put the other items away, and hubby started to cut up the pork butt to prep it for the meat grinder. Then, all of a sudden I hear my husband say, "YEP. CANCER!!!!" I asked him what he was talking about and he said, "Come here... LOOK!!! GREEN PUSS!" When I saw it... I almost yacked in my kitchen. I kid you not... there was green puss oozing from the section of meat he had just cut into. IT WAS HUGE!!!! It was a lemon-sized tumor he cut into... and it STUNK like DEATH!!!! Hubby and I were absolutely mortified!!!! The smell along with the sight of that nasty-grody-raunchy, puss-filled meat made us physically sick. We IMMEDIATELY threw the meat away in the bin outside and sterilized and bleached EVERYTHING that it touched. By the way? That poor animal must have been in misery before it died. I realized a box of $9.00 cookies were missing from my order so I called the store and was told to bring my receipt in and I would get my cookies When I went back the next day with my receipt to get my cookies I was treated very badly. I was told to wait outside of the room where the manager would check the days films. I had spent $111.00 that day including the cookies.I waited for about fifteen minutes Many customers passed by me and heard what was going on. They need to button up their produce quality. It's terrible buying a ton of berries for your party and realizing too late that 70% of the fruit was deceivingly normal in appearance but rather, frost damaged, or rotted from the inside out. Basically, they were stored at such low temperatures that I bet they had froze over before getting set out again at normal temperatures, ensuring that most of the fruit is damaged but would appear normal until you touch them/serve them. HUGE upset and not something you want to deal with an hour before your party. See my kitchen sink with all my wasted money. I come to the store only because they carry the water that I drink at work which is l 6 1 L bottle package. I came this morning to get water and I was looking for a mint and I noticed this cashier Adela put up the sign that her register was closed just before I got to the register. So like all right I'll go to the other register and sure enough her friend goes right to her register and starts loading his items on the Belt. Stars for a decent and cost effective selection during COVID but having only one line for check out on a Sunday doesn't seem to make too much sense to me. One of the smaller Smart and Final locations I've been to but it gets the job done. The parking lot is the worst part of this place because it's a bit of a hassle, but it is otherwise a great store. You no longer need to be a smart and final member to shop here. Everyone is discounted at their "club" price. They have a pretty good selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Their meat selection is pretty good. There are a lot of items you can but in bulk and if you need party supplies, they have you covered. I recently threw a house party and came here for my party drinks and all the syrups and mixes I would need for a little outdoor bar. The Ralphs at the Encino Marketplace recently closed and this location sent a coupon for residents to recognize this location at their new neighborhood grocery market. read more

Sarineh gave me a very bad time. She did not write rain check willingly. Armenia (Store Manager) was on vacation. Armenia was helpful when she came back. I waited a month for the product to come in. All I hear was no stock at warehouse, they are not filling orders. I called corporate. It took 5 days to get an answer. Call from Dorris on 323869790l. She never returned calls because she was waiting on buyer. Did not even return call to say she was working on problem. Really great customer service and communication. Dorris hung up on me. There was a time where Smart & Final was great. Their products were fairly priced with freshness you could count on, but not anymore! My wife went to get some Pork Butt. She came home, I immediately washed the meat, and began sectioning it into smaller pieces. When I cut into it halfway, I noticed a deep green oozing substance out of it. Surely enough it was a cancerous tumor! First Street products aren't what they used to be. Do NOT BUY ANY MEAT PRODUCTS FROM HERE, EVER! To think you're paying money for death. I come here a lot, and, although the staff is usually friendly, the place looks like a dump with stuff strewn everywhere and the lines are usually horribly long. The Smart & Final Extra in Woodland Hills is SOOOOOOOOOO much nicer. I really hope they either turn the Encino one into an Extra or they open one up close by, because this location needs a ton of help. read more

I asked the checker for a paper towel, he mumbled to the other checker, neither had anything, they pointed to the outdoor stand with wipes...quite helpful while trying to pay. I have a medical exemption for wearing a face covering. I entered without a mask, no problem. Then, when I was nearing the checkout lane, a lady employee told me that I have to wear a mask. I said that I have a medical exemption. She told me that I could not be in here if I didn't wear a mask. I told her again about my exemption; and she repeated that I was not allowed to be in the store without a mask on my face. She then ordered me to put my items on a shelf next to me and leave the store. I informed her that I can report this to HIPAA and she encouraged me to do so, then repeated to put my groceries down and leave. I felt humiliated, intimidated and disrespected - but I didn't want to make a scene, so I put my groceries down and left. Will never return to this store! read more

I tried their delivery for the first time vs going to the store and although the delivery was prompt and a little less expensive than InstaCart and Amazon I was delivered bad meat that I couldn't use and don't want to leave my house to return or pay for a new delivery :/ I ordered two packs of wings from the meat section and not the frozen section but I have a feeling these wings were frozen previously or simply not stored properly because there was a very funky smell and it just wasn't worth taking the risk to cook it and going to the hospital in the middle of a pandemic so I tossed them out and the money used to pay for them :/ read more

I came here to get my recycling done. Before coming in I called to make sure they are open today. Upon arriving 10 minutes later, the Assistant Manager told me they're done doing recycling for today. I tried to explain to him how I called before and he responded with a full on speech: "Why the hell are you recycling your shit on Labor Day Weekend?!" Feeling super annoyed I said "i don't know...?"
