Good little spot!! Smelled amazing. I got the cinnamon roll (which you can see in the case) and iced tea. They warmed up the roll which I appreciated. The service was good! There was also plenty of seating and nice light inside. Peaceful café tucked inside the Denver Botanic Gardens Offshoots is a sweet little spot with beautiful architecture and a relaxed vibe--definitely a nice place to take a break, grab a bite, or get some work done. There were plenty of people posted up with laptops enjoying drinks and light meals, which gave it a cozy, communal feel. My dad and I stopped in for a quick pick-me-up on our way out of the gardens. We ordered the cinnamon roll and the Offshoots breakfast sandwich (I believe that was the name!). The cinnamon roll was pretty good--nicely warmed up, which made it extra comforting. The sandwich, however, didn't quite hit the mark for me. It sounded great in theory (croissant with scrambled eggs, scallion cream cheese, and cheddar), but it ended up tasting a bit too greasy. I ended up picking the egg off and passed the rest to my dad to finish. To be fair, it may just not have been the right choice for how I was feeling that day! My dad also got a coffee, which he said was solid, and I grabbed a San Pellegrino for something refreshing. All in all, the ambiance was lovely and the location unbeatable--but food-wise, it was a mixed experience. read more

They were busy and the worked came across as stressed and were not too helpful. They picked and chose who they brought food out to vs calling you up to get your food, maybe because they were busy? We got the cinnamon roll and the turkey and Brie sandwich. The cinnamon roll was warmed up and dry. Had a good flavor but definitely not a gooey cinnamon roll. The turkey sandwich had a fig jam on it and it was very good but messy! We also had a white mocha that was pretty good. I would recommend offshoots if you are really hungry and not able to wait until after enjoying the gardens... if you can wait, I would suggest that. read more

Had a great experience this past weekend. The interior is clean and there's bathrooms right next door. Decent amount of seating options inside and out. The food was surprisingly good. We got a flat bread with pulled pork, sandwich, spinach feta croissant, and a chocolate milk for the kiddo. The latte was ok. We got there early around 11 so had no problem ordering and getting our food. A line quickly formed right after us. read more

This is the "snack shop/coffee shop for the Botanical Gardens. It's clean, well maintained and the teenage stayed is quite outgoing and friendly. The prices are a little high but that's to be expected at the "amusement" park. I was pleasantly surprised when my simple meal of a "flower power" vegan wrap was most likely the tastiest thing I've eaten in a month. I kid you not. It was unexpected and amazing. I also had a bowl of tomato basil soup that was also much better than average. The meal cost me 24 dollars with a water but it was actually worth it. I love being pleasantly surprised. read more

Kinda pricey for small proportions, however my friend said that the food was delicious. She mentioned the salsa specifically. You order at the counter and grab your food yourself, but the hostess was thoughtful and kind. The area is super cute surrounded by plants and the inside is a nice place to cool off when it's warm outside. read more

We waited over thirty minutes for overpriced subpar coffee. For the price I expected something better than gas station quality. ordered a ham and cheese croissant and was discussed at what I got and how it was served. looked like a large "hot pocket" thrown in the bottom of small paper serving bowl/tray with absolutely nothing else presented. no garnish, no pickle, no small piece of fruit, no chips, no nothing. it looked something had died in the bottom of that little tray and it was ready for a funeral. I had pictured a real croissant sliced open with ham and cheese inserted, slightly warmed with perhaps a piece of lettuce to make it more appealing. none of that happened!! the dough had kind of the flakiness of a croissant and been squished down and folded over on itself to form a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. the presentation was crap and it tasted like crap. DON'T EAT HERE!!!!!! nothing makes this acceptable. read more

Why is a cafe at a Botanic Garden charging $1.08 (this is with my membership discount) as an upcharge for a small splash of plant-based milk for my coffee? Get with the times--no coffee shop in town taxes people for alternative milk in a simple cup of coffee. I wasn't asking for a latte or any other espresso drink. I think they're charging more than Starbucks. I refused to spend that. Weak, black coffee. At least the views are lovely. read more

Great food and the environment is really nice. Prices were very reasonable and staff is friendly.

I honestly don't have that much to say. The burrito was a lot better than i thought it would be. I'd give it 3 stars based on the combination of price, convenience, service and taste. The line moves fast enough and there are menus you can grab while in line. This helps the line move as fast as it does. At first I wanted a breakfast sandwich but I think they were prepackaged. Im not too fond of a place that cant cook simple items. The burrito could've been the same way but I couldn't tell. It wasn't too shabby. It was 6 dollars but I expected the food within the walls of the gardens to be a lot higher in cost. The food isn't even the star of the cafe, it is the service Every employee was kind and very helpful. They were all smiles and pleasant to speak to. They seemed genuine in their apologies for not having certain items and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I wouldnt go out of my way to eat here but if your already at the botanic gardens and get hungry, might as well. read more

Wish these two places were split! The Hive is a solid 4 for food and ambiance. It's such a lovely place to eat and see the gardens, and the food is pretty good. I'd avoided Offshoots for a while but went again recently - ugh. Food is not good. One it's own Offshoots would get a 2. May be ok for grabbing a coffee but someone needs to figure out how to make that food better. read more

Not even close to crowded, and yet the slowest moving line and cafe you will ever visit.

If we don't bring a picnic, or the heat is just too much, my friends and I will come sit inside and grab cold drinks and possibly an icecream sammich or something during our wander through the garden. I can't really speak for the actual menu, but the coffee is perfectly acceptable, and the cookies and things are quite tasty. The venue itself is cute and kept very tidy, and has a lovely view out through the glass back into the botanical garden. So long as one is not expecting a gourmet five star cafe, they are unlikely to be disappointed in here. read more

Silly me, after a $46 dollar bill I thought it had all gotten ordered, but that was just for a kids hot dog and 2 cheeseburgers. Clearly, far too cheap for there to have been a 3rd burger. But no thanks, not doing a 15 minute line and 15 minute wait for food again, the rest of the family would be done and have to wait for me to eat and miss garden time. I highly suggest getting any of the warm items such as the paninis because they're made fresh. All the cold items such as the wraps are made in the morning and thrown into the fridge so they definitely don't taste as good as the warm items. Other than that, the food is passable. read more

During my night of experiencing Denver Arts Week, specifically a dance performance at the Botanic Gardens, I detoured into Offshoots for a snack because I had been so darn busy all day I had forgotten to eat. For a non-petite person such as myself that's kind of a blessing--to forget to eat. But I will not diverge into that topic. So Offshoots was very nice and timely to discover just at that moment. It was crazy busy because of the dance event(s). The service was still efficient and friendly and the food was pretty decent. I just got a pressed-grill type grilled cheese sandwich. The chai was decent too. They use Third Street Chai. Because of the busy-ness they were running out of various items on the menu; I was grateful they had what I wanted. The salads looked very good. That's what I would try next time. I agree with Ted P. about their wifi connection. Took forever to connect and when I finally did then it promptly disconnected. However, I wasn't really there to do wifi on my iphone. I was there to see the dance performance. So it wasn't really a big deal. It is quite a pretty space with the high ceilings and eye-catching architecture. I could kind of envision a creative sort of Yelp event in this space, with Yelpers walking about in the gardens also. An indoor/outdoor event at night when the gardens' magnificent sculptures are all so glowingly lighted up. read more

Not so Good: * Service is mediocre; it's a bunch of random just-out-of-college kids working behind the counter with no particular empathy or skill. * I come here all the time and the room ALWAYS smells like burnt toast. There's no ventilation to speak of. * Free WiFi is too slow. * If you are sitting in the northwest corner of the room, there's a very unattractive view of junk piled up next to the serving counter: a fan, an old ice cream machine, a cleaning cart, used towels, cleaning supplies, staff sign in sheets, loose wires. Not recommended. Mostly plastic-wrapped pre-packaged food, presented indifferently and unimaginatively. My "strawberry orange spinach salad" was a plastic box of spinach leaves with a sliced strawberry and four wedges of mandarin orange squished into it, and an envelope of Newman's balsamic dressing. The rest of our food was tasteless and manufactured. Generates an enormous amount of paper and plastic waste when China plates and real tableware could be easily be washed and reduce the waste (claims to recycle and compost, but as the instructions are ignored by most patrons I watched, it is unlikely to be effective). Really an embarrassing and poorly produced introduction to the beautiful and high quality Botanic Gardens. read more

Last night we visited the Denver Botanical Gardens for their "walk of lights" and before the commencement of our walk we stopped into this little cafe for a hot drink. They were EXCEPTIONALLY busy, which is understandable, and I feel that the staff was handling everything nicely. I was watching the baristas make the drinks, and I could tell that they were not simply rushing through each drink, but making each one the way that it was supposed to be made (I'm a barista myself). I ordered a quad espresso, and the espresso was presented to me with great crema, which shows me that they take care of their espresso machines. It had a great smoky flavor and I really enjoyed my experience and drink. read more

Came in again, just for a tea. The staff and atmosphere are good. But the refrigerated pastries and plastic wrapped cakes and cookies don't convey freshness. I wanted something sweet but the items were so unappealing, I didn't end up choosing anything. Seems that they sacrifice quality for quantity. Some advice for them: just have less options and provide a few popular freshly baked items that move throughout the day. read more
