Once again my son wanted to eat here, the wait staff was very welcoming. It was quiet in there everyone was eating dumplings. We had fried rice that had shrimp and chicken in it, and it was delicious, everything is freshly made to order. We also tried pineapple fried rice, which we didn't like, we also tried pork belly bao, that was great, my only issue with this restaurant is they should have soy sauce available on the table. This restaurant made me realize I don't like dumplings steamed or sautéed but I did give it a try and it seems like everyone else in the restaurant was enjoying them, overall I would go back and try something else. This is my favorite Chinese in the area. I've had it a few times now and its consistently good which is big to me. They have a small dining area, but I usually do takeout. I was very excited to try this place after I saw a story posted by Step out Buffalo. Unfortunately, the place didn't live up to my expectations. We started with a shared plate of vegetarian dumplings which were just ok. Nothing stood out and even the chili oil I requested to accompany it was sadly not spicy. My main entree was Dan Dan noodles which was where my biggest disappointment was. I have always Dan Dan noodles where the broth is very thick so it never feels like soupy noodles. The noodles I got here essentially looked and tasted like Ramen. The broth was very watery and there was no sauce at all on the noodles which were extremely bland. I don't think I have ever had worse Dan Dan noodles. The only saving grace in terms of food was our sesame balls that we got to share as dessert. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and the red bean stuffing inside had perfect amount of sweetness. The service was very prompt and polite so five stars there. The ambiance is great too, quaintly decorated with Chinese art. I don't think I'll return on my own accord, but if someone planned a meal there, I would go but definitely stay away from Dan Dan! read more

Let me preface this with that I am originally from Taiwan, the land of the OG "Din Tai Fung" with the best soup dumplings ever. I have also been to Shanghai for soup dumplings so I KNOW authenticity when it comes to Chinese food, especially soup dumplings. TLDR: Get the fried rice (we got the roast pork) and the fried dumplings (we got the pork and chives); don't order the soup dumplings, go down the street to Trader Joe's and get their frozen pork soup dumplings which are not only better but also cheaper! I had high hopes for this place, seeing as how the soup dumpling game is non-existent in Buffalo that I resort to frozen ones from Trader Joe's. Sadly, we will likely not be returning except to maybe pick up some pork fried rice if we happen to be passing by. The pork bao buns were average at best - the flavor was ok but it was really dry, plus the meat to bun ratio was just too much bun. The spicy wontons would have been better if the bowl didn't taste soapy. Soapiness was actually a theme of the day. Our waters tasted soapy, the soup dumplings tasted soapy, and anything that came in a bowl tasted soapy. It's as if they aren't rinsing their dishes completely nor are they drying them, so there's always that hint of dirty soap water in the food. The soup dumplings were the biggest letdown. The inside tasted like dirty soapy water and the dough was too thick and overcooked. The best part of our meal was the pork fried rice. It is perhaps my favorite in all of Buffalo and its suburbs. The pork and chive fried dumplings were decent too - dough wasn't super thick like it is at most places and they had good flavor. Service was average, decor and atmosphere were fine, and cleanliness was acceptable. Prices seemed high, which is the main reason I'm not sure if we'd be giving it a second chance even if they start rinsing and drying their dishes properly. Fried green beans, scallion pancake, spring rolls and the pork belly buns all proved to be delicious hot and served fast appetizers. The place is clean and well lit, bustling and inviting but more casual than anything. We tried a number of things including the pork/chive and chicken/cabbage dumplings, both good. The pork belly bao was very good. The red bean and egg custard bao was also delicious. I would have been very happy but both fried items, the scallion pancake and the sesame balls were very greasy. OG Dumpling House is a new restaurant located in Tonawanda, NY, focusing primarily on dumplings. The interior is quite small, but the food and seating moves fast. The service is excellent and the staff is constantly checking in on you. In this style restaurant, this is important as you may order only a few things at a time. We've had take out from here several times, and finally ate inside yesterday. We ordered the Xiao Long Bao, BBQ Pork Bao, Red Bean Bao, Pork Belly Buns, and Dan Dan Noodle. Everything was phenomenal! The Bao's are extremely pillow-like and offer a nice amount of filling. The Xiao Long Bao are so tasty. The filling is comforting. The Pork Belly Buns, in my opinion, is probably the best item on the menu. The sauce that the pork belly is in is just amazing. Finally, Dan Dan Noodle is just wow - I think this will be my new sick food. It's actually not that spicy, but it's enough to clear your sinuses. The broth is phenomenal. Unfortunately, I was so hungry that I only took a photo of the Dan Dan Noodle - sorry! Overall, I really think OG Dumpling House is a fantastic new add to the Buffalo food scene and well worth a try! We knew what we wanted to try. We ordered the Lanzhou Spicy Beef Noodle, Pork Belly Buns, and pork soup dumplings. The food came out pretty quickly, especially the noodles. The noodles are a little too soft for my liking but the soup itself was good. Maybe it was just that day but will def go back and try the noodles again. The pork belly buns was okay for me but worth the try. I know the soup dumplings but it tasted a little too sweet for me and there was not enough soup in the dumplings. Last night was the fourth time I've been here. I ordered two scallion pancakes to share with the table, along with an order of chicken with broccoli. I also had green tea because I was a bit tired. The food was amazing, as usual. I tried crab rangoons and their pot stickers too. In the past, I've had their sweet and shout chicken and their tofu meal too. The amount of rice they give you tend to vary, based on what you order. When I had the tofu dish, I had a lot more rice than my niece, who had ordered a different meal. Not much for ambiance but their lights are cool. It looks like the containers that the dumplings come out in. The service was good. They had a lot of people on. Waters were brought to the table, when I got there. I had to ask for more water, when I was ready for more. I'm assuming the waitress would've asked if we wanted more but she was incredibly busy. Few establishments deserve a true 5 stars. OG Dumpling House is one of those. Expect to wait a little bit as the restaurant is small, but well worth the wait. A cozy, casual, fast paced spot, the food is hot and fresh. Servers are continuously bustling dishes to tables. The dumplings are packed with flavor with great dipping sauces. The pork bao buns were delicious and the Rangoons reminiscent of PF Changs. I will say I did not like my pork soup dumplings they had a weird taste and look on the inside that isn't consistent with soup dumplings I've had before which I was shocked by because I've heard such great things about them. If you like being ignored and paying a gratuity for extremely poor/nonexistent service, this is gonna be your favorite place. We walked in about 8:30 (after dinner rush) and the place was about half full. Most people were already eating or leaving. The young lady behind the counter looked up and snapped menus towards us gesturing towards the dining room "sit anywhere " was our greeting. Then waved us towards the dining room with an exaggerated swoosh of her hand. We should have just left but we were hungry. Our server quickly came by and stood in front of us looking down at his order screen and said " you ready to order?" I said this was our first visit and we'd like to order drinks and look at the menu. Still looking down at his screen he asked what we wanted and left. He returned with drinks and the only thing he said to us was " you ready to order now". Followed by "You want anything else?" After Each and Every dish we ordered. We ordered nine dishes. Let that sink in. It was like a Carol Burnett skit. Only not funny. The food came out quite quickly and was from wow this is really good, to wow this tastes really bad (especially the Shumai) and the steamed dumplings that we had ordered fried. No check back to see if we needed anything. We did. There isn't anything on the tables. No soy sauce, no S&P, and we want all of that and some chilies or similar. It was not to be. The entire staff was dragging around, heads down, not a bit of energy or 1 smile to anyone for anything we could see. Not even with each other the entire time we were there. Nothing but negative waves Moriarity. He finally came by after we had stacked most of our empty plates at the end of the table. But didn't say a word and was leaving when I had to stop him and ask for refills. The next thing I know he drops off the refills followed by the young lady running the floor who drops off the check. No one asked if we wanted anything else. So we just paid and left. Never thanked, not a smile a nod etc. Maybe if you pickup or door dash this place it would be ok. I had dumplings at OG location in Rochester, NY about 3 years ago. It was so good that I often thought about their dumplings when I crave dumplings. So I was so excited to see a location opened up in Buffalo. I ordered the House steamed dumplings, crab & pork Xiao Long Bao-the steam soup buns and bbq pork buns. The House dumplings were so delicious at the Rochester location, so I had to try. 8 dumplings for $9.50, the dumplings were large but tasted just so so. I am surprised they didn't have the usual soy sauce, vinegar, hot sauce and sesame oil on the table for the customers to mix on their own. The provided sauce was too sweet to my taste, so I asked for hot sauce. They only had chili oil, which was fine, but it took so long to get, my dumplings were cold by the time I got the chili oil to add to my dumpling sauce. The Xiao Long Bao, 5 baos for $9.50, was totally disappointing. First of all, I ordered the crab & pork but got shrimp instead. I couldn't tell from the outside. 3 out of 5 baos had broken skin, so no soup in the baos, and the other 2 had minimum soup. The skin was thick and had the wrong texture with a strange taste, not at all authentic. The sauce was black vinegar which is the right sauce, but it came with only few shredded ginger. I asked for more ginger and it also took forever to get. So if you had authentic Xiao Long Bao before, I do not recommend. I got the bbq pork buns to go and had them for breakfast the next day. 3 for $7, they were also only so so. I think the ones I got frozen from Asian Market tasted better. The restaurant is in a building that looked like it was a Pizza Hut or something similar. They have a parking lot. Business was good, they were almost full with people waiting and ordering takeout out. The restaurant is very noisy, so probably a good family place but not for dates. Menu has dumplings, different types of baos, noodles and some typical Chinese dishes, but no vegetables. I saw edamame and fried green beans only. I was looking for vegetable dishes that were usually offered at dumplings houses, like pickles cucumbers or pickled cabbage. The service was slow and I saw the wait people tried to give food to tables that didn't order several times, and one of my orders was wrong. Improvement is needed there. read more

Tasty new restaurant on the boulevard . You can tell other patrons have heard good things as well - it was packed on a Sunday evening . Despite the crowds , service was still friendly with a smile . Dare I say my beef lomein entree was the best I've ever had . Also the shrimp dumplings were hot and full of tasty fresh shrimp . The Crab Rangoon was ordinary but not bad . We've been here a few times. They had some newer items on their menu we wanted to try. We were able to sit wherever we wanted - the seats by the windows are drafty fyi. The pork dumplings had great flavor. The pork belly bao was delicious but could have used more flavor. The dessert dumplings left something to be desired. I expected them to be soupy but the consistency of the chocolate was just a tad off for our liking. Note that they sell soda by the can so no complimentary refills.
