I brought three pairs of pants to Ogden for permanent hems. Clear instructions, nothing complicated. When I came back, what I got was a hack job! I had a temporary hem and they simply removed the original thread and replaced it with loose, uneven stitching. When I questioned it, I was told this was the "new style." What?! That's insulting. A permanent hem is not a fashion trend! it's a basic tailoring standard your "tailor" did a poor job on it. The only reason I paid is because I was leaving for a business trip and didn't have time to argue. But let's be clear...this was not the service I asked for, nor was it professional work. To make matters worse, they also shrank my polo shirts and had the audacity to claim that's how they were. The lack of accountability here is astounding. This is not a first time but it's the last time. Shame on you Ogden. This place cuts corners, delivers poor results, and then gaslights customers when called out. Ogden should be ashamed to put their name on this level of work. If you value your clothes and your money, take them elsewhere. read more

I recently discovered Ogdens and have used them for both dry cleaning and repairs. The first time I was shocked when they told me my 3 item dry cleaning and jeans repair would be available the following day. My favorite pair of jeans got a tear in the thigh area and they were able to reinforce that area with some wonderful stitching and they are good as new! I also brought in a blazer that a purchased on clearance that had a wonky sleeve to see if they could repair the sleeve and they sure thing, it's perfect and I am complete with them. They do really stellar repair work here and I recommend them to everyone! read more

As you can see I only leave 5 star reviews, infrequently leave reviews, and love to be positive, but unfortunately I would not recommend you go to Ogden's for alterations. I asked for a dress strap to be taken in and a torn skirt seam. I assumed it would not be so much, and as I was turning to go after drop off asked to clarify price and was told the register was already closed for her to check the pricing but was reassured that "it won't be much." When I returned not only was it not a high quality job (original ruched style of strap was not maintained, but sewn across in a flat line, creating a very wide strap and a different silhouette), but I was charged $51 for both items. I know that I should have verified explicit price estimate before dropping off, but in my experience simple jobs like taking in straps and repairing a torn seam should NOT cost $51, or at least I should not be told not to worry "it won't be that much." When I sough clarification at pick up the woman justified it by saying some dresses can even be $20 per strap. But this was not a complicated strap. This made me feel taken advantage of or like they are price gouging. The one positive is that that they didn't have any trouble with turning around my alteration in a day, which I appreciate as I was heading out town and needed the dress. But I will not be returning because it was not honest to tell me it would not be that much and I can see from reviews others have had the same experience. Ruined two dress shirts and refused to pay or refund the money for the cleaning. Rude and unprofessional. Sometime between when I gave Helen (owner) the shirts and when I picked them up, they became stained with some brown chemical. David (employee) told me point blank that their machines ruined the shirts. Helen tried to blame anyone and everyone -- myself, other dry cleaners I have used -- doing anything but taking responsibility. She then tried to spot clean the new stains, and made it worse with bleach. The process took almost 2 weeks. I asked her to replace them, she refused. Took three t-shirts here to get them shortened. I had already marked the shirts that would show where they needed to be cut. They would not give me a price quote because the woman at the counter told me the person who does it was not there at the moment. I assumed it couldn't be that much to cut and then stitch the bottom of the t-shirts. When I went to pick them up I was in shock....$77 dollars to cut and hem three t-shirts!!!!! WHAT A DAMN JOKE!!!! I can't say enough wonderful things about Ogden's. I was in San Diego for a business conference and when I unpacked my luggage I found that my cat peed on all of my meeting clothes. Ogden's was open on a Sunday and had all 6 items dry cleaned, pressed and ready to go by 7:30 am the next morning. The price was extremely reasonable, even including a leather dress. The staff was kind, courteous and rushed to get everything ready for me so I could make my 8am meeting. If I lived in San Diego, I would definitely take all of my dry cleaning to Ogden's. The pricing and customer service. I took in 2 pair of jeans, pajama's, 1 shirt, several small hand towels. The charged me 49.00 to launder these items. I could never get an answer on how much per pound I was paying for washing. Customer service is very poor. You get over talked, you never get a complete answer. Oof! Had such a bad experience here. I had requested some repairs, but they were supposed to call me with the price before proceeding. Not only did I not get that call, I had to call them and it was very difficult to get an answer. Eventually, I went to go pick up the item and they had independently decided to make the repairs and charged me an astronomical amount. Helen is an angel & a miracle worker!!! Best alteration I've ever had... I had a unique situation. I went through breast cancer and had a lymph node removed, which caused a bit of lymphedema in my left arm. I had the most beautiful coat dress that I wanted to wear to a fancy party and it wasn't comfortable at all on my left arm. I went in with only a few days until the event and I know she was already very busy, but she fit me into her schedule and worked all day on my piece of clothing. I also had her take the length up, and remove the pockets. This coat dress is black with pink roses. I thought she was going to have to get stretchy black fabric from the fabric store to make the arm bigger. She used the fabric she removed, and it matched seamlessly and fits so amazingly well now! I couldn't believe her work... Absolutely impeccable. It was not cheap... Around $160 for all of this to be done, but I have to tell you... Worth every penny! And I am a firm believer that people should be paid what they are worth. She had to do a lot of different things to make this happen and I thought the price was incredibly fair. Especially with the time crunch... She really did an amazing job and under the pressure of only having a couple days to make this happen. I could not be happier. I will bring all of my clothes to her from now on for alterations. I am a very picky Customer and I knew within five minutes of talking to Helen, that she was going to know exactly what to do. I am a control freak, and I tend to want to micromanage and when I met her and spoke with her, I had zero fear that she knew what she was doing, and I did not need to tell her one single thing. Do you know how good that feels?! To be able to relinquish control and know that somebody is absolutely the best and knows exactly what they're doing with what you are paying for... She's just that good at her craft. I can't believe I didn't find her years ago. She's really so on point and I tried the coat dress on and it was immediately just perfect. She's worth the price because she will do things that other people won't do. She was willing to even go to the fabric store for me and buy fabric if my own fabric wasn't enough to open up the sleeve and make it bigger for my situation. And then she did a couple other things that I would've never thought of and it just fits beautifully now. And the length she did on the bottom is perfect as well. I can't recommend her highly enough! Simply the best. And she is so sweet and caring. Sometimes they have a bit of an attitude when you go to alterations. You will not find that with Helen... Hotel cleaning service was unavailable for the weekend and I desperately needed dry cleaning done for meetings on Monday morning. Called around and no one could have it done until Monday which wouldn't work for me. I called Ogden's and the owner answered and said she could help me out. Dropped it off on Saturday PM and she had it ready and waiting for me at the established pickup time of 11:00AM. She runs the shop by herself and works very hard. So I called back and explained how rude it is to hang up on a customer. She said that she has a customer in front of her and I told her I AM A CUSTOMER what makes you think you can hang up on people.
