I had dropped off a suit jacket to be cleaned about a week before Thanksgiving, and I needed to pick it up over the holiday weekend for a work trip. When I showed up at the shop, I was disappointed to see that they were closed. But then I saw the lady who works there through the window, and she let me in even though they were technically closed. She remembered me from my previous visit and helped me pick up my suit, which was a huge relief. I really appreciated her going out of her way to accommodate me, especially since I was the one who had waited until the last minute to pick up my stuff. The team here is fantastic. Debbie is always delightful, and Huy does an excellent job altering all of my clothes - from gowns to jeans! The gentleman that's part of the team is also very courteous and is patient with inquiries. Once, I had a delicate shirt sent out, and they processed it twice because the first attempt didn't meet their standards. This just shows how much they care! I was looking for a place to handle my uniform that did dry cleaning and press and stumbled across this gem located in Downtown San Diego right off of Kettner Blvd next to the Allegro apartments and Rite Aid! I went ahead and called first to see if they were open and asked for the price of the service. After accepting the offer I went ahead and dropped off the uniform and was given a ticket to hold onto. The lady up front offered exceptional customer service and told me to pick it up in 3 days and to pay then. After my 3 days was up I got a text from them letting me know my uniform was ready to be picked up. If your looking for quick, fast, and quality service I highly recommend you to try this place for any of your uniforms or dress attire since this place doesn't dissapoint! read more

I didn't use the dry cleaning service, so I can't speak on that. The alterations service, however, is the worst I've seen in my life. I had 2 curtain pan brought in so they can be shortened by 5" or so. I marked the drapes at home. One drape came out longer than the other; they were the same length when I brought them in. The stitching work is also very wiggly with pinched fabric in numerous places. I don't know how this woman gets away with this at these scam prices. DO NOT DO ALTERATIONS HERE! read more

This is the first dry cleaner I visited in SD. Usually when I find a good dry cleaner that can provide my service quickly for an agreeable cost, I stick with them. Unfortunately here they delayed my order an extra day and only after 5pm I was able to pick it up. That was because they do a lot of the dry cleaning at a separate location in Point Loma and the clothing must be moved to and from that location. Anyway they did a fine job with the dry cleaning but I just won't be returning again because I don't think the value is good and they were not very transparent about the process. read more

Will update when that's paid! Also- grabbed my other silk top I had dry cleaned at the same time & the strap is fraying & almost torn off. I don't often use the dry cleaner, but I needed to get my boyfriend's suit dry cleaned and I was calling around to get prices. I called and they didn't pick up but they immediately called me back which was surprising considering the poor customer service these days. Their prices are very reasonable and fast turnaround. 11 pieces for $90 and was ready in four days. The woman who owns the business is extremely personable and honest, my boyfriend accidentally left five dollars in his suit pocket, which they put in an envelope and attached to the ticket. I dropped off my wedding gown after a really fun night; however, the dress was covered in stains. I reached out to multiple businesses and each one informed me that it would take months to get the stains out of my gown. Life savers and Miracle workers!! I tend bar at a busy high end restaurant and part of my uniform is a white tuxedo jacket. Anyone who's ever tended bar knows that between the red wine, bitters, espresso, liqueurs, and food stains that keeping something like that clean and looking good is real tough. Week after week I drop off my jackets looking like they were used to mop up a crime scene, and they get them back to me looking brand new and sparkling white! I've brought all my dry cleaning to Magic Touch for the past 4 years. The primary reason I've gone there is convenience. It's located right next door to where I live. In general, my experience has been pretty decent. It's a bit pricey, but they have a pretty quick turn around and are generally friendly. I had an issue a few months back where they lost a shirt of mine. That was frustrating, but they gave me a credit for the value of the shirt. The situation that bothered me most, resulting in this one star review, occurred just recently. I brought in a large bunch of shirts (20 or so). When I got them back, I noticed that two of them (back to back in the bag) had stains that were in the shape of buttons next to the button holes the whole way down the shirts. It looks like buttons were pressed against the shirt and melted a bit, leaving a glossy plastic residue (see photos). I brought the shirts back in. The owner said she'd try to fix them. When I went back to pick them up, the owner explained that she wasn't able to get the stains out. She denied responsibility for the damage stating that she doesn't have any equipment that could have caused those marks. I told her that the shirts were fine when I dropped them off, but she insisted that she couldn't have caused that damage and suggested that I must have done something to them. It's incredibly frustrating to be told that I'm to blame for this damage, when it's so obvious that they did something to them to cause this, especially since I've been a customer for years. I eventually told her I'd be taking my business elsewhere in the future. I've tried to get the stains out on my own with no success. Both are ruined and one of them was a custom shirt I got while in Thailand, so it's not easily replaceable. My real issue is the owner's complete denial of responsibility for ruining my shirts, then blaming me for it. read more

Hoi is amazing!! I had an alteration for a bridesmaid dress needed. It was about 2-3 sizes too small in the bust area and Hoi was able to make that adjustment beautifully. Worst alterations ever. Brought a gabardine Burberry jacket which needed the sleeves slightly shortened. Instead of bringing it up from the shoulders they simply folded the sleeves, did a shoddy job stitching it off, and argued about the number of buttons that were present in the jacket until we proved them wrong. We also asked they keep the four buttons on the sleeve (should have been a non-issue since any tailor worth his salt would have shortened the sleeves at the shoulders on this jacket) but of course these dummies cut two off and lost them. Brought it back, showed them the sleeves and they tried to say nothing was wrong but conceded stitching the buttons on over the lining was shoddy. They tried to say it was our fault and we should've known better when we SPECIFICALLY stated what we wanted done when we dropped it off. If they don't have the skills they should have been candid and we would have taken it to someone who does. Took it to a trusted tailor who has previously done work for us to correct it and everyone there was shocked at the loose threads and crappy job. Do not recommend. Especially not with expensive clothes. read more

I had to get something altered in a short period of time and was panicking when practically every place I called told me it would take at least 3 weeks. Magic Touch was recommended to me by a friend and they were the first to say "no problem!" The seamstress was out by the time I got there, but the girl up front let me use the changing room to just pin it myself (thanks to seeing my mom and grandma do it all the time). I had my fingers crossed the entire time since my timeline didn't allow for any mistakes. Luckily, it came out perfectly. The price was also super reasonable, with no upcharge for what I would consider a rush job. Overall, definitely my lifesavers. Would recommend to anyone needing alterations. read more

They take good care of my dry cleaning & laundry, yes laundry not just my dry clean only items. I barely have time to do anything so any article of clothing that looks too delicate for me to hand wash goes to this business. My fiancé is now using them too! Before working from home, their curbside drop off and pick up was the best thing for me since again, barely tome got anything but now I can walk on my lunch break. I just came from this place. I returned my pants because the hem they did on it was significantly uneven. The owner called me asking me to show her the other pants that were hemmed correctly. She blamed the manufacturer of the pants for the seamstress hideous job of cutting the pants unevenly. Seriously???? Your employee damaged my pants by cutting it unevenly and YOU want me to blame the manufacturer for creating uneven pants? How DUMB is this? The owner's lame excuse is that they don't check the original length of the pants, just cut equally from the bottom! Really such a DUMB excuse. To make things worse she refuses to pay for the pants! I'm a firm believer that customers will talk about a business if the service is awesome or if it's horrible. Unfortunately, for Magic Touch Cleaners, and me as a customer, this is a review of the horrible kind. My husband and I have had quite a few instances with them where clothes weren't cleaned and had to be redone, but this latest screw up is a major problem. I decided to share my specific experience with you so that you are aware of how Magic Touch Cleaners doesn't stand behind their work or how they feel about the importance of their business's customer satisfaction... especially when they BURN things. About three weeks ago, my husband dropped off the hood for mt snowboarding jacket, which is outlined by a thick SYNTHETIC FUR piece. The tag on the hood specifically reads "DRY CLEAN ONLY", so we obviously did. Four days later I picked it up, brought it home and was shocked to see the ENTIRE FUR PIECE WAS CHARRED. THE WHOLE THING was burned at the edges and the fibers towards the middle were practically melted together. The thing was no longer fluffy as it should be, but is now more like a big long thick cotton ball. Bottom line here is that it looks like THEY JUST THREW IT IN THE DRYER AT some point in the process and burned the freaking thing. Naturally, my husband took the hood back to the shop to see what in the world happened and how they were going to make this right. Our hope at this point was to get some sort of reimbursement/compensation to cover fixing/replacing the fur piece on the hood and be done with this ordeal. We were given the run around for several more days with phone tag as apparently the only person who could resolve this was the "manager", by the name of "Nassi", which I suspect was the owner, but who knows. Once we finally spoke and she got to see the hood she was adamant that they followed the instructions on the tag (despite the evidence of the ruined hood) and she wasn't sure what happened. Her way of making this right was to basically offer me some ridiculously low amount of money that wouldn't cover anything. But what pissed us off the most was that after several weeks of back and forth and some completely unnecessary negotiations she had a check ready for us to pick up, but wouldn't give us the check until we "gave her the hood as proof". First of all, this wasn't the deal to begin with!!! According to her, "Unfortunately, that's all I can offer you and I tried to work with you but you don't accept." And that was that... (as of 3/16/17). Needless to say, we said "keep the damn check" and took our ruined hood home. Naturally, we are both furious for my ruined jacket and decided to share our experience with you so that you're aware of how Magic Touch Cleaners treats its customers when they screw up! I would recommend against using them. If you live in Little Italy like we do, find another place that cares about its clients. read more
