Long story short is: the cut is not too bad but took way too long! !!!! It says service hour is till 10pm, we walked in at 9, they said no more walk in after 8pm. Disappointed. I made appointment the next day at 7pm, all the students were busy, I have to wait about 10ish mins which is ok. I got a long hair cut which cost $19, she said coz my hair is long, it was like half of my back length. The wash felt like didn't rinse clean enough, and it took 2 hours my service ( wash, cut n dry)! 2hours! Too slow n too long! I have never had a haircut takes that long! Took my daughter and I to get our hair flat ironed and styled for a wedding. Got my hair done by one lady (not going to mention name) who totally messed it up. It looked awful! My daughter got her hair done by April who was amazing! She did a beautiful job! While I was waiting, another student saw that I looked upset about my hair and kindly offered to fix it. I went on Friday and I had them bleach my hair and color it and my hair turned green the next day. My hair looked awful I had a line all the way around my head and then had some spot where they did not put the bleach.I had to go someplace else the next day for someone to go back and try to fix my hair and get what I wanted. I love this school, the instructors know their stuff as do the students. I think what these other Hellers don't understand is that IT IS A SCHOOL. If you wanted the perfect service go to a professional salon. These students are learning and you sign a waver stating you understand that a student will be doing your hair... I went here today to get my hair hilighted and cut. MY HAIR LOOKS AMAZING! The girl who did it did an amazing job and the prices are so good! If you're going to have a few things done here in one visit, be expecting to be there for awhile. Not because they aren't good, but because they're students that are providing the services and they're still learning/getting better. Be patient and you'll have a wonderful experience. I took my 10 year old daughter to this location to my stylist Amy Boone. My child is of the ethnic background and wanted her hair straightened and trimmed. Amy spent almost 5 hours on her hair to ensure everyone was happy. She took the time to explain to us the process in which she was doing and how we can maintain it at home. Beginning with the consult, then shampoo, and cut, she is great. I've scheduled another haircut with her in 6 weeks. The instructors were great, however, Emily needed little assistance. Want a specific haircut? Good luck with that. Bring a photo, point out a student with the haircut you want and you will get whatever they decide that doesn't even come close. Expect supervisors to oversee the students? Good luck with that, they are too busy smoking (clothes full of it chocking you when they get close), stuffing their faces, placing food orders, hanging out with others, Students will beg for help only to be ignored. Supervisors will not hesitate to tell customers to shut up if you chat with students, that they don't like the hair style you chose, or where you part your hair. Finally find someone who can do a haircut you like? Well don't bother asking for them again because even if you are promised, you won't get them. Student already graduated that you liked, good luck asking for a reference where they went, won't happen. There is NO specific methods of haircuts, you can be there three to four hours and end up leaving with a chopped up mess with one side grossly shorter than the other. My autistic kid could do better! I have tried this place over and over, but finally give up! read more

I have been a recurring customer for at least 2-3 years, and usually come in every 2 weeks for service. Because it is a school, I know that there would be possibilities of not getting it right every time. For the most part, I've been satisfied with my experiences, but recently I've noticed a downward spiral from appointments booked on the wrong days (even though my appt card said differently), having to wait because appt wasn't scheduled properly, and being shocked with the constant inconsistencies and increases in cost for services. My most recent experience was not having the color take (I have gray roots and the color made my roots look ashy blond),and having to have it reapplied (this actually happened the last 2 color appt visits). I made sure to mention this because I didn't want to have to sit through another re-application after a long day...but it happened again anyway. Each time in the past I noticed that my color formula wasn't consistent and each time they said that they would change it. The last straw was after being asked to pay for my services (before they were complete), I was hit with an additional fee due to them having to redo the color, and was told that I couldn't use my loyalty points because it had been discontinued since before Christmas!! Keep in mind, my credit card had already been run and I wasn't told of the additional charges until I received my receipt. I always tip generously, and didn't let this circumstance change that. Not saying that I won't be going back, but I'm saying that I'm looking for a better customer experience. read more

This is a new beauty college and we tried it the other day. It's an ok place. I had a pretty good experience but my sister didn't. The girl that worked on my hair, Lilac, did a very a good job. I had her cut my hair and redo the layers. She kept double checking with me of how short I want my hair. She made sure of how I want my layers to be. Right before she finished she kind of convinced me to have a few long strands of bangs. I almost didn't do it but she had her bangs the same way and I liked it. This is the first time I have bangs in almost 10 years. She was pleasant, made nice conversation, funny and knew what she was doing. When the teacher came by to sign a sheet, the girl had her check my hair. On the other hand, the girl who worked on my sister, Kelsie (we think), didnt do a good job. She did everything she was told not to. She wasn't double checking, asking how short she wanted certain parts, having the teacher check her work, nothing. She kept cutting here and there. When she finished, my sister looked at her hair and was shocked. Her hair was verrrrrry short, much shorter than she wanted. My sister kept asking her 'why is it so short, why did you take that much length off ', and the girl said 'well it's shorter because I dried it'. Needless to say it wasn't a happy ending for my sister. She was very upset. The girl basically took off right away. My sister wasn't upset at the girl or mad at her. We know the students are learning and that's ok. But when someone asks for 2-3 inches to be taken off but instead 6-7 inches are cut, it's a given that you don't trust students again. I would give the place 4 stars because I was happy with my hair. But since the other girl didn't do that great, I'm going to have to give it 3 stars. read more

Stay away. Coming to this place I thought that instructors would have a disciplined and orderly class. It was anything but this. Joking loud talking and laughing. One of the girls would not shut up it was obvious she was on drugs. Had scabs and sores all over her arms. Hair was not done correct the first time so came back and was just given excuses as to why it was not. Second time it was not done correct either. And to top it off one of the gay instructors came out to the parking lot yelling at us that we had not paid. Little did he know it was a redo and there was no charge. We bought all the treatments, shampoos and conditioners they recommended. It is obvious they push this stuff which was ok for me for the money we saved coming to this school. BUT we really DID NOT save because in the end we ended up going to a real salon and getting it done correct. As you can imagine I will not be back. read more

Been here a few times, and it's been great. These ladies are all so sweet and friendly. Zita is a sweetheart! The prices are incredible, and they really do a great job. I've only gone for haircuts so I can't speak for the more complicated hair treatments, but my haircuts have looked great! Be prepared to spend a little more time than usual there as they are after all students in the process of learning. But overall, I'll be going back! read more

I went here for an education, and it was a huge disaster. First Phase is wonderful, Ms, Lincoln was an angel to me and taught me so very much but after that it was all down hill. The 'powers that be' decided to cut our classroom time down to 4 hours a week, and in said four hours, NOTHING was being taught. The class degenerated down to a bunch of dancing and hip hop dancing. I could not find a teacher when needed, it took forEVER to get anything signed off on and clients were annoyed by this as you can imagine. Asking the teachers for help was pointless, the only person even CLOSE to willing to elp was Ms. Shroen. I had several clients come to request me as a walk in only to be told I was with someone when they could CLEARLY see me through the plate glass with a mannequin! I also hear several of my friends try and book me only to be told I wasn't a student there, didn't know me, and busy! All lies! The dispensary doesn't have any product worth having in it, because the students steal it all when you aren't looking. My locker was broken into several times and personal items were stolen and mind you I had a LOCK on it-- it was simply cut off. No one in the office was willing to do anything but shrug at me. If you are looking for a school, then go somewhere else. read more

I love this place. For a great price I can get my hair cut, nails done, pedicure whatever beauty treatment I need. The students are nice and there are always teachers around to make sure the job is done well and/or to answer questions. I recently had a series of face peels done for an amazing price I've always been treated well and came away happy. I'd recommend going here for sure and in fact have sent many friends and coworkers here already. The only issue I have ever had is finding that favorite student and then sadly they leave so always ask them before they graduate who they recommend. read more

My appointment was at 12:30, I didn't leave the salon until 5:30! My girl wasn't allowed to do what would work because her instructor liked doing it a different way - which took HOURS. For a simple bleach and highlight job. They wound up having to do my hair a second time just so it would look right! Negative. Not worth the discount, tried them 4 different times. Twice they booked me and upon arrival told me they couldn't see me, without calling me. I live 30 minutes away, driven an hour in traffic both times for nothing. Once I got highlights put in and they looked like tiger stripes, a good inch from my roots. I called the school director, whom 3 weeks later, still has yet to return my call. Their policies on customer satisfaction are weak, and some of them are very unprofessional. I got a wax from someone who said they were licensed yet back for updates to it, and she hurt my face! She waxed the same spot several times, making it very red, and what she said she couldn't get, pinched me continuously with the tweezers. I get it done near my house for $2 more, and 30 minutes less so I learned my lesson there. The one good experience I had was when I got the GK treatment (even though she burnt my scalp 5 times!). However, my husband also got a cut at the same time and his stylist went way too short and really struggled with achieving an even length. Pretty much if you want anything other than a simple cut and dry, or have less than an hour minimum to wait to be seen, save the headache and go somewhere else. I won't return, ever! read more

Am Ok with student practice..as long as instructor is nearby. Was very satisfied with my AGEsmart facial and the eothetician student whose skills were obvious. I went into the Ogle School yesterday for a simple haircut. My appointment was at 2:30. While sitting there waiting for my stylist the male receptionist was dancing with a student right in front of me. After he was done with his twirling he went to the back to find my student. He came back confused and it appeared he didn't really know who he was looking for. I believe he asked another employee who "so and so" was so he could go find her. After getting the description he went to look for her. About 10 minutes later l am taken back to begin my haircut. The student introduces herself and then doesn't speak to me again the entire time until I leave and she tells me "it was nice to meet you". I WAS THERE FOR TWO HOURS!!! I sit down and my student asks me what I would like and I said I like my hair the way it is and I just want my dead ends trimmed off. She says OK and goes to get her instructor. The instructor comes over and wants me to look at pictures and select a haircut and I said I just want my ends trimmed. So the instructor explains to the student what to do. The instructor was a horrible communicator. I could tell my student didn't have a clue as to how to cut my hair. At the other academy's I have been to the students know their stuff before they are allowed to work on the floor. So off we go... she is set free to start cutting. After about 30 minutes of trimming the back she goes and gets a different instructor to tell her how to do the front. The instructor starts asking me several "hair questions" and I explain to her that I know nothing about cutting hair. That is why I came to them. I am super annoyed by this time. This instructor proceeds to give the student totally different directions from the previous instructor. My student was still very confused. By this time my hair is dry because she has been cutting on it for over an hour. It hurts as they tug the comb through my dry hair. She continues to call on her instructor to assist her throughout the haircut because they did a poor job of explaining to her what to do. At the end the instructor finishes it off for her. The instructor asks her what else needs to be done and she says that she needs to get my hair wet so she can blow dry it. I should've just walked out at this point!!! Two hours later my hair is done . The student didn't have me facing the mirror as she dried my hair. When she took off the cape I stood up and walked out without even looking at my hair. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME!!! This place is dirty. Spider webs in the windows, dirty floors, one of the students brought her supplies in a old rolling suitcase that set close to my feet. The students are snoozing, reading magazines, texting, etc. I have been to other academy's and they are nothing like this. Students not working are practicing on each other or studying. I give this one star only because I cant give it less. I feel sorry for the students at this school! The instructors are horrible and unfriendly. They need to learn how to communicate effectively in order to teach. These poor kids are wasting their money and not being taught to dress, communicate, and act appropriately for the working world. okay so this morning i went to straighten my hair like every other day and my straightener was turned up to about 500 degrees and literally burned off about 4 inches of my hair, so my solution to the serious mishap was to get it fixed and soon. so i called Ogle and was given and apt for 2, showed up at 1:45 and was seen at about 1:55. my stylists name was Ramalda and she was awesome! she immeadiatly began going over my options on how to fix this. the only option i really had was to cut 4 inches off everywhere which was not my plan but that was my fault. we also decided to do an all over color as well as the cut and style. she was very attentive, sweet and also an older student who knew what she was talking about, so i felt comfortable. also before we decided on a color she grabbed her instructor Scarlett (who was also a sweetheart) to get her opinion and the "okay". the only thing to complain about if anything is the time i was there, but its understandable in my predicament, my hair was FRIED! so all in all, Ramalda did an amazing job on my color and my cut. just this morning i was in tears over my hair, and now i couldnt be happier, guess it was time for a new do anyway. =) read more
