Ogopogo Brewing is doing great things in San Gabriel! It was over 100 degrees out so I pivoted from usual dark brews and went with a whole lot of summery feels IPAs. I tried~ *6.9% Sharlie, a hazy IPA. *8.5% Mothman, a DDH hazy IIPA. *10.5% Yacumama, a hazy IIPA with pineapple & coconut notes. ~I liked them all! They were all nice and refreshing on a scorching day. I brought my laptop to do a little work while I sipped and the staff was really nice about directing me to outlets. I actually had my first drink on their patio outside but it got soooo~ hot so I was thankful for all the indoor seating. Clean bathrooms, beers can be bought in cans for purchase and I saw some people just dipping in to grab & go. They had a couple of dedicated spots which filled quickly and then I reckon other parking may be a bit harder to find. Prices are good, staff is great and most importantly beer is cool & inventive. The pandan IPA was tapped out when I came in but I will surely be in again to try more. read more

This brewery has SO much potential, but it isn't truly meeting it. There is so much that can be done so it could have a lot of foot traffic. Located in the industrial area of San Gabriel, Ogopogo highlights their ube beer and food. Sad to say, they do not make a pandan hazy IPA anymore, which was my main reason for coming. I had no idea! We parked in the faded parking lot in the front of the brewery. The parking is unclear as for the opposite side says no parking. We walked in, and felt very cold, since it was a rainy/cloudy day. They had their doors open that led towards he outside seating and the front entrance, so a breeze was going through. On a Sunday afternoon, it was not busy at all. We took a small look around the brewery and didn't see anyone. The beertender was actually hidden towards the left and wasn't near the register. She didn't say anything nor greet us. In fact, I don't know if she said anything at all. We ordered out two beers and went to sit down. I found out that she was counting her minutes to leave and another beertender took her spot. We sat in the back where the music wasn't as loud so we can do some work. I ended up going back up to order their hot dog happy hour: a Boeman and a hot dog for $10. I then ordered myself a hot dog for $5 in addition to a Hazy IPA. the second beertender was a tad nicer than the first. She explained to me the discontinued beer, which I didn't know about. The hot dog was pretty good for the cost. It's bigger than a hot dog you'd get at a stadium and it was definitely half the price. They had ketchup packets and offered onions as a topping. As for their beers, it was decently priced with the haze I was expecting. They had a bigger crowd of people starting at 6 when we left. The parking lot was filled on both sides and people created their own lot with their cars. It's just odd how no one really comes throughout the day on a Sunday. They could offer more foods, snacks, or incentives to get people coming, but I didn't see any of that. The workers seemed not to care too much either, so that's a bummer. Again, lots of potential, but the care needs to be put in. I probably won't be back. read more

Wow, never knew this was in our backyard this whole time! Local brewery that has award winning beer, put this place on your radar because it's on the up and up. Dog friendly, outside patio, many tables for hanging out, it's a favourite third space. I come here anytime I want a quick dranky drank mini-mental get away. Free parking, beers are super affordable and most importantly tasty. My all time fave is their Haliya, an ube coconut beer. It's shockingly purple colored and has a smooth sweet flavor. Everyone that I bring this beer to, have positive thoughts about it. Friday night trivia is pretty fun too, starts at 7pm! Sometimes it's tough as you're playing against parties of many people, but it's the journey not the destination. read more

They offer an ube beer called Haliya ($5 for 10oz), where you can even add boba in it for extra. It's a chill spot to grab a drink after work or hang with friends. Ube beer?!! I'm not a fan of beer, but this was not bad. I like the vibes here and how spacious it is. Trivia nights every Friday is fun, but they should have speakers at various angles because it's tough to hear in the corner near the patio entrance (all the other tables were taken by the time we got in just before 8pm.) Would be interested to try their food. Since they have a kitchen now, you aren't allowed to bring in outside food unless it's Mon-Wed when their kitchen is closed. read more

I enjoyed their rotating seasonal options -- super fresh and well-balanced. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, happy to make recommendations if you're not sure what to try. It can get a little crowded at peak times, but that just adds to the lively atmosphere. Parking is a bit tight, but once you're inside, it's worth it. The short story: I've never had a beer here I didn't like--or at the very least, respect. The lineup is inventive but still tips its hat to the classics. Into a crisp lager, traditional IPA, or juicy hazy? They've got you. Feeling adventurous and craving something exotic or globally inspired? Also covered. Honestly, if you're a beer fan, this place is a no-brainer. And if you're not a beer fan... what are you doing here? Go drink a Fresca in shame, you weirdo. They've got food, too, though the menu is on the smaller side. Definitely check kitchen hours (weekends for sure), and sometimes there's a food truck out front. The in-house eats are simple but solid--flat-top sandwiches, a few snacks. The turkey melt? Surprisingly excellent. The pretzels? Straight out of the freezer, the kind you could score at a movie theater--so maybe skip those unless you're also craving overpriced popcorn. The space itself is bright, modern, and spacious. Music's low enough that you can actually talk without shouting, and seating options abound: indoors, outdoors, or on the covered patio. Plenty of hangout zones depending on your mood and the weather. Just a heads-up: it's tucked at the end of a cul-de-sac with limited parking, so you'll probably end up on the street. But hey--you're about to down a few pints, so the extra steps count as cardio. You order at the front with the friendly staff, grab a taster a sampler, a snack and a board game, find a seat and after making your drink choice enjoy your brew. They have a good selection of beer. Although they have a small food menu, the food was fire! I tried the turkey melt and quesabirria. Both were tasty, especially the melt. They paired well with my drinks. The service was efficient. Everything came out on time. The place is nice and decent in size. 4++ Great brewery that feels located a little off the beaten path (coming from someone who is not really familiar with this particular area. There's a good selection of beers on tap and the beertenders were very friendly. The space itself is really nice. Feels like it's been open for onfly a few years at most. Really great place for groups or just to catch up with someone. A buddy of mine knew of this place and he was getting out of a conference in the area. I also happened to be in the area so we decided to meet up here. Ordered a couple of the IPAs and sat down at one of the plentiful seats/ tables. There were some interesting bottles for sale, but at this point (or the time of my visit) I just had too many bottles at home. Thank you to my daughter for taking me here. Had a good beer for dinner and craved more. My wife wanted me to hit a supermarket and go home to drink... My daughter and I wanted to PARTY! We won, lol. Quality/Quantity - Had and sampled the following: Haliya - Ale with ube and coconut, the flavors were very pronounced, in a good way. Too bad I do not like these flavors in my beer, next. Drudge - I started my night with this as I was working my way up, lol. This was okay. Sharlie - Hazy IPA, this was so smooth and drinkable, too smooth. My favorite of the 3 beers. Mommy Long Legs - I believe a Hazy Triple IPA, again drinkable. I think I ended the night with this... Yakumama - Similar to above but even a stronger/higher alcohol beer. I chose not to get this as this was going to be my 4th beer and I wanted something slightly lighter. Atmosphere - Cool space. Both indoor and outdoor. Got here for Bingo night, unplanned. But Major (that's his name) was so welcoming and engaging, we decided to play. And because we won 3 games, I ended up drinking 3 beers, lol. We only came here for 1 beer, but bingo kept us here until closing! Clean unisex bathrooms, I especially liked the beer label wallpaper. If I had a man cave, that would be my decor! Limited parking, but not an issue for a Thursday Bingo night. Service - 5 stars. Both Major and the bartender were cool, inviting, welcoming, etc. Price - $25 + generous tip. This is one of the few breweries located in the SGV! I love coming here bc it's so local. There's limited parking in the back. There's a lot of seating inside and much more outside. This is nestled in the dead of an industrial area. The interior is spacious and seating is limited, but there's additional seating in the patio area. Unfortunately, there are no heat warmers if it is cold, so if it's busy, bring a spare jacket. The brews is at an average price and not too pricey. The taste was good and each brew they offered had its' own identity. This brewery has a lot of potential. It appears to be family and dog friendly and tailored to just meeting and grabbing a drink. The food is very limited to hot dogs, pretzels and sandwiches. There's two TVs inside the brewery that has old TV shows playing. Although their business model isn't tailored to entertainment, such as games, juke boxes, karaoke and etc, this is just a spot for people who are in their 40s and above to just sit and hang out. If you want unique beers and seltzer, drop by for a cup or two or to taste the menu. After the tasting the brews, unfortunately there was nothing left for my group here. It was quite meh. This brewery can offer more and make a profit out of it, but just misses. I'd prefer a more lively environment and getting to know the locals at a dive bar. read more

This is such a fun spot to grab a brew and play trivia! My coworkers and I visit here to let loose. It does get packed on Fridays so if you can send someone ahead of time to save a table, at least you won't be standing. Trivia is so much fun and, so far, no team has been a sore loser. If you're looking to nibble on something there is a food truck taking orders. Parking can be tricky so I would recommend carpooling. Other than that, the brews are tasty and the prices aren't terrible. If you need can to go, some of the more popular brews are available in cans. I love that there is an Ube beer. read more

OGOPOGOOOOO What a fun name! Came to this specific location for the first time last Friday for trivia night and it was so much fun! The trivia host was great and I love that I knew some of the answers because I usually know NOTHING like Jon Snow. Beertenders were great too! I specifically like the Ikuchi and Haliya, Mango Cart was great too. Tons of inside and outside seating, and they allow dogs indoors. Parking was confusing but I think we were allowed to park in other business' lot when they're closed.. unsure but we didn't get towed when we did that so should be fine! read more

I finally got to check Ogopogo off my brewery visit list when we came for a surprise party for my buddy Gabe. I've always been a fan of their beer since the days of them doing tap take overs at Dog Haus in Canoga Park. I love the set up they have a spacious outdoor patio area with lots of seating, inside a bar area to place your order with some seating areas as well. They have trivia nights, and food trucks certain days of the week. Been here twice, one day for trivial night, and most recently for Bingo. Staff here are super cool and friendly. I like Bingo a lot more since the host, Mayor Reyes, is very interactive and talks to patrons playing. He sprinkles in a bit of standup here and there for the laughs. I've tried two beers and my personal favorites are the Harmonia and Haliya. Harmonia is basically an elevated mango cart, and a lot more fruity. Haliya is their ube coconut ale and somehow they made it work. This is a cool place to kick it and unwind with peeps! On Fridays, they have food vendors. Great small brewery that is very close to me. Never too crowded. I have never seen any drama or fighting. Beer is tasty. Staff is friendly. Always a good food truck on most Fridays. This place is a really chill cool spot If you wanna grab some drinks with some friends or significant other. I went here with my significant other and this place was perfect for a date night. We ordered the ube beer and a seltzer (highly recommend the ube beer) we hung out in the outdoor patio and it was nice and intimate as there weren't too many people and was just a overall nice ambiance. While the brewery itself gives off a very industrial, brewery feeling; beers from ogopogo feel very much like mythical creatures that you never really see outside a normal brewery. Ube and coconut beer? Done. Pineapple and coconut IPA? Done. Yuzu rice lager? Done. Cinnamon Vanilla & Coffee Stout? .. okay that's a little more tame. The beers here always feel pretty well balanced and light on the palette, and nothing has really disappointed me, even the to-go cans. The staff were kind and open to our questions. It's a chill ambiance to have a drink after work. I ordered the harmonia beer which tasted like a mango cart with more mango infusion.
