The brewery is a little lacking in terms of interior design and decor but service and beers make up for that. My bf and I got a flight of tasters for all 9 beers on tap. I don't like IPAs because they taste extremely bitter, so I was happy with Tiki on the Beach, Spa Water Saison, and Surf Shack Akala. The owner is very friendly and knowledgable about his beers. This time we got a flight of 4oz beers of varying flavors including the Saison Kau Wela (hoppy), Tiki on the Beach (fruity), Spa Water Saison (refreshing), and Citrus Breeze (fruity). Such a hidden find just off of Main! I love trying local breweries and this is as local as can be. When I first walked up to the store, there was a table right in front so they are only open for outdoor currently. I was browsing the menu when someone came out from the store to greet me and talked to me about their different beers! They also mentioned that they live around the Alhambra area, but make their beers more south of LA. Super friendly service and answered all my questions!! Onto the taste, I wanted to get three different canned beers so the server offered some samples so I could try them before I bought them! I think my favorite was the Spa Water Saison since it was so light and crisp. The IPA was also really great with a clean hoppy flavor that came through very well! First thing I thought when I came in was that it felt very homey. It was hawaiian themed as the name implies. Not as much of a bar vibe, but it's okay. There was music playing in the background which was nice. The place is small (hence it being a microbrewery), but it's also not too crowded. Staff are very welcoming and informative. Service is fast and great! It's located right off of Main Street and 1st Street, behind 38 degrees. There's plenty of street and parking structure parking. They have 4oz, 12oz, 16oz pours in house. And 32oz, 64oz growlers to take home. Decently priced beers and growlers. I got a 32oz twist top growler for less than $4. Along with the tasters, you get pretzels and extra cheddar gold fishes to snack on. They even give bottled arrowhead water if you need some. I tried Tiki on the Beach (one of their most populars), Surf Shack Akala (a great sour), Hill Street (very good hefeweizen), and Acorn Ambition (coffee amber ale). We just had the best customer service ever. The waitstaff was very attentive. They made sure we had enough tables and chairs for our party, even when people arrived late. They refilled the water without being prompted, and made sure we could order more beers without having to hunt around for a waiter. The beer itself was delicious! I had the two different blonde ales, and both were excellent. (Review based on 3.5 stars) Ohana Brewing Company is located down on 1st street, off of Main street, in front of The Granada LA and right behind 38 Degree Ale House & Grill. Ohana Brewing Company is also across the street from Gen Korean BBQ House and close by the parking structure. My husband and I, along with our little girl dog, stopped by last Saturday afternoon around 2:20 pm. We were greeted by Andrew and given a paper menu right away and told of the featured specials available for the day. Most tasters (4 oz) cost $2, but there a few that cost a little bit more. Each person is limited to a total of 6 tasters now (it used to be 4). We tried a few that included Saison Kau Wela, Grande Vista, Limit By Limit, Spa Water Saison, Black Coral Stout. My husband liked all of the beers he tried and I thought the Spa Water Saison was unique because of the cucumber and ginger flavors. We made some small talk with Andrew while we were here for about an hour. It was pretty much empty for the majority of the time we were there. Andrew seems pretty shy, but appreciate his efforts. We found out from Andrew that Ohana Brewing Company brews their beer in Los Angeles. They do not have a tasting room there because of the lack of space and the lack of parking. So they eventually found this place and opened a tasting room in Alhambra. Andrew told us that they will fill any growler, regardless of the brewery name on there (but will cover the logo). But will not fill any damaged growlers or growlers that may leak CO2 (because they cannot be properly sealed). Although the beers here are good for the most part, the reason for my 3.5 overall rating for this place is that this place does not have a bar or brewery feel. It is really bright in the room and very small. Please note that this tasting room is standing room only (there is 1 unisex restroom and was clean on this visit). I would suggest tinting the windows, playing some music (not too loud that it is hard to talk to the person next to you), lower the lights a little and decorate the place a bit more with the ohana Hawaiian theme (without making it an overkill). By the way, Andrew told us that they are now licensed to do full pours and will do so soon. They also have plans to remove the carpet (hopefully they will also consider doing other changes to give it that bar/ brewery feel). Also want to mention that well behaved, leashed dogs are allowed. My husband has been spoiled by the craft brew scene in SD so we have been slowly working out way through all of the breweries in the SGV. We should have come here sooner. This place is very small, but in a location near many food places and easy parking. A major plus compared to LA or Pasadena. Their beers are less hoppy, which is what we like. Their most hoppy beer is their saisons and everything else is lighter and easy drinking. We tried almost all but two of their current menu. Their Hefe is nice and light, feels like you can drink it forever and their standard blonde is a bit hoppier but smooth. I was extremely surprised by their coffee amber ale which does not have the heaviness of standard coffee stouts. It was like cold brew coffee compared to standard coffee with cream. Love this place. Small, family owned business that makes craft beer. Does it get any better? They have a number of brews on tap at all times, and they come in varying sizes which I really appreciate -- 4oz, 12oz, 16oz pint. As someone who gets bored with a full pint of the same brew, I really enjoyed being able to sample with the 4oz pours, and order a 12oz pour for something I enjoyed. Price point is great as well. Tasting room is small and uneventful but... the beers are on point! Tasters are all $2-$4 for a 4oz pour. Tried most of them. They have some nice fruit-forward ales which seemed to steal the show. The Bunny Team was... hoppy (love that name... well done!) and also one of my faves. In the end I opted for a pint of their Tiki which was awesomely fruity and smooth but not sweet. Discovered this random little gem years ago on Halloween weekend. We were on our way to a Dia de los Muertos event nearby and we were walking the blocks to waste time before admittance, and I'm so glad we did. Upon entering it looks pretty small, there were just a few high tables, but no chairs. I get the ambiance but after a while, you want to sit! The place has a few decorations up, and they have a few rows of jerky bags that you can purchase. We did end purchasing 2 bags to take home and we ate half of the bags on the drive home, haha. The people there were SUPER nice and friendly. They engaged with us (we were the only party there at that time) and they shared their story and how long they had been in the area and they even gave us a few samples of beer to try so we could decide what we wanted. I could share but I really encourage you guys to go and meet them and get to know them. It really made it feel like this could be a "where everyone knows your name" type of spot. That day we went with a matcha beer, which sounds weird but it was amazing! I ended up drinking that the rest of the time we were there. I'm only sad that we didn't get some to go. Now, as good as the beer is, I have to admit that I was originally going to give this place a much lower rating...that was until I learned that most everything I disliked about this tap room goes back to the city of Alhambra's overregulation: no bar stools at the bar and full pours are off the table. All of this lends itself to a sterile atmosphere. However, the beer was good, and the guys behind the counter did try to inform of the brewery's story. I bought a t shirt which is fantastic cool. They say you learn something new every day. Today I learned that the reason they don't have chairs for their customers is because the city doesn't allow them to. Nor do they allow TVs. BOOOOO to think I liked Alhambra... Anyways to the beers. So I heard about their Honeydew Sencha IPA and something about a green tea beer... and guava. All things I like so of course I had to come back and try it before it got rotated out. I didn't know they were all IPAs (not my choice of beer) and as such I was a tiny bit disappointed. I didn't want to get much so I went with the Honeydew Sencha and the lychee green tea. The Honeydew was probably the one I preferred. Both had a beautiful smelling nose but were a bit light on the flavor. The lychee green tea was a bit heavier on the green tea flavor and the Honeydew was a bit fruitier. Typically drinking IPAs are a struggle for me but these were pretty good considering. Need to come back for the guava. As usual people working there are very knowledgeable and friendly. read more

This interesting little micro-brew tasting bar is an unusual find on this side street in Alhambra just off one of the main drags. It is tucked in between two wonderful hot spots. Ohana B.C. itself is but a small tasting room for local brews. For a small fee you can taste a set of six home brewed beers - from light - to thick and black. Then - with a little buzz going on, you can buy a liter or more of the brew that you like best - and lug it around with you for the rest of the night ;-). There are also gifts and other beer oriented nick knacks to buy. The beers are pretty much worth the price - but if there is a weak link for me at this fine little place it is that the price is fairly high for a take-home jug. Ohana is a pretty solid brewery and one of the few breweries in the san Gabriel valley! It's located close to main st in alhambra so there's plenty of parking all around! The space was definitely something else in a past life and hasn't quite grown to become a brewery yet. There's a few standing bar tables but the carpet and fluorescent light really threw me off. It'd be really nice with non-carpet floor, more of a dimmed yellow lighting situation and more of a brewery vibe. I randomly walked in here on a Tuesday night, and was happily impressed with the selection, the service, and the taste of the craft beers! MATCHA light beer?! WHAT!? I had to tell my gf right away, the one that loves matcha. I'm taking her this week, in fact. In case you have a kid with you, they have nice snacks for them. And if you go with adults, you have little snacks too. I found out that they brew their own beer, but off-site. read more

So my co-worker who was also an old college mate actually stopped by this spot on a Friday night 8/12/2022 as it was on his bucket list to try out for the longest time but didn't have a chance until that day. For me, I didn't know that a brewery had opened up in Alhambra as that's not usually what comes to mind when I think about visiting Alhambra. The very first things that come to my mind when coming down to Alhambra is the Edwards Renaissance movie theater and all the Asian restaurants in the area, not a local brewery. In any case, I'm actually kind of happy that a local brewery opened up in Alhambra as that gives me just one more reason to stop by Alhambra just a bit more than other parts of town. On the menu, the beverages most fell in the $7-9 range for up to a pint for some beverages and for a couple of them, up to a 12 ounce tulip cup. They also have 32 oz growlers and whole kegs (whose amount I haven't confirmed just yet) on sale but we weren't there for that although the more I think about it, I'm open to the idea of getting a keg for a possible party further down the line. For me, I really liked the Ohana Pacific Ale, No Sleepy Time and Long Term Investment. All the other one's were ok--decent for what they were--but not really my cup of tea, so to speak. The menu will tell you a bit more about each alcoholic beverage so I won't elaborate too much here other than the Ohana Pacific Ale is basically your basic blonde ale. If you're coming from drinking mass produced domestic beers most of your life, this is the introductory beverage that I would recommend. No Sleepy Time is the star of the show in my opinion. This tastes like a dark roast coffee, nutty, and has a nice dark cacao taste in the finish. It's also quite clean-tasting, despite it being a stout. Generally speaking, stouts have been predominantly heavy tasting with a full body in the mouth feel. This is not one of those types of stouts. It looks dark--about as a dark as a typical Guiness but its mouth feel is more like a light to medium body. It doesn't taste 'thick' is what I'm saying but it's not like drinking straight water either. Definitely some 'body' or 'texture' if you will and the carbonsation is fairly light compared to the other beverages on the menu. The Long Term Investment is a nice bridge into the world of IPA's and I've had a lot of IPA's since I got into the world of microbrews and craft brews from these indie shops and brewery that have popped up and are being sold in the larger alcoholic retail chains like BevMo and Total Wine. IPA's are known to have that classic, bitter 'hoppy' taste. If you've never had it before, the taste can be quite off-putting and as a result, most people steer clear of these craft brews since the use of hops is qute predominant but not all of them will have this strong and bitter hops taste. The hops taste is like any other unfamiliar flavor that you may or may not get used to. I like to use coffee as an analogy as drinking it black is an acquired taste. Coffee in and of itself is quite bitter but once your taste buds have become acclimated to the bitterness, you start noticing new things from different brands that you've never noticed before and it's a wonderful thing. Having said that, between the Rhino's Ruin DIPA and the Long Term Investment, I would recommend the latter for starters, if you just want to tread lightly into the world of IPA's. All of the super high alcoholic content so far as IPA's are concerned are drinks I would only recommend after you've had sufficiently tried the rest of the rainbow, so to speak. What's super high, you may ask? Anything in the 8- 16% ABV would be high for me (when compared to the equivalent wine which generally hovers around 10-16%). Most mass produced domestic beers hover between 4-5% so doubling that number would, to me, mean it's pretty high in the Alcohol By Volume (ABV). They take credit cards. Enough said. Service is friendly and they'll stop by your table once your done to ask if you want more. They also hand out these small cups of snack pretzels and gold fish crackers, which is nice. There's only 5 'high' tabletops with two stools for a max of 10 outdoor seatings at any given time so keep that in mind. You can absolutely just stand around each tabletop but that street tends to have a lot of foot traffic so definiltely plan your visit accordingly. Ordinarily, I would talk about ambiance and other related things but you're literally sitting outside on the street with no special sort of dividers or 'designated zones' to separate the outside world from the brewery so if that's a problem, this brewery may not give you the type of experience you were imagining in your head. All in all, I'l definitely be back in the future. It's a nice, small, quaint spot to drink with a friend. Do show up early as seating is limited and it's not fun just standing and blocking the street as again, there's a lot of foot traffic on that street. read more

I had their 4oz taster and the selections I had was light beer. I really enjoyed the Tiki, there is a hint of tropical fruits, not overwhelming. It's a little hole in the wall as there tap room but it's good enough for a drink. Recommended read more
