This was a neat experience. I got there barbecue chicken and it was great. But their macaroni salad will make your tongue slap your teeth out. I don't know what they do different but it works. Quiet spot for lunch. Price point was decent and quick service Katsu masubi and Katsu were a little thin as per the style but ended up being more breading. Macaroni salad was excellent. Always in the mood for musubi, there's did NOT disappoint. It was plentiful and quite delicious! We also ordered the bbq chicken, which had really great flavor. The short ribs had an interesting flavor to it that I couldn't place, but it wasn't what I was used to. The lumpia was ok (I'm a filipino, so I'm a little bit of a snob when it comes to lumpia). The good ratings lured us in. Don't be fooled. The servers didn't know the food: macaroni salad was called mac and cheese more than once. The short ribs were like bubble gum and as thin as a tortilla. The katsu chicken was tasty, but appeared to be a prefrozen panko chicken breast. This is over priced and misrated. read more

Ohana means family, but WELA means HOT and that's what it is...it's HOT in here! Yes, it's summer in Ohio and there are definitely no Hawaiian trade winds blowing here. Twenty (20) minute wait in off season? I can only imagine what it's like when the Miami University students are in town. There are two families in this restaurant...and that's including mine. If you are in a hurry, you better e hoolohi (slow down)! Sadly,the menu is also very disappointing. I was fully expecting to see a Schwann truck parked out back or my childhood lunch lady donning a full hairnet in the back because the food was reheated Salisbury-steak circa 1986 bad. In fact, there's little authentic Hawaiian fare on the menu, besides SPAM. The most refreshing part of the experience was the canned Hawaiian juice, but at $2.50 a pop it's tempting to walk a block to the gas station and save 50%. Two stars because it's nice to see something unique in this college town. But, seriously, it's not good. I mean, not even one pineapple on the menu? Food was good. Got the BBQ mix combo. I love the macaroni salad. It's light without all the extra stuff that doesn't belong in macaroni salad. Rice was just rice. I added the teriyaki sauce that came with the meal to the rice. I didn't care for the spare rib, the meat didn't taste fresh IMO, but the chicken was excellent. This place was a 45 min drive for me so I picked up three meals. The loco moco was just bland and lacked any flavor. The Chicken Katsu Curry was ok but it depended heavily on the sauce for flavor which there wasn't very much included. Finally the BBQ Chicken came with Teriyaki Sauce which was fantastic, the problem I have with it is that the sauce tastes just like Bachan's BBQ Sauce (IYKYK). Was beyond excited to try this place after seeing on Instagram that they recently opened since there's nothing like this in the area or surrounding areas, and it far exceeded expectations! Got there right when they opened and the employees were excited to see us and recommend us dishes. The menu has lots of options, so anybody would be able to find something they enjoy. Everyone in my party got a different entree and we shared some lumpia, and we only have good things to say! Everything was flavorful and hot from the kitchen straight to our table. Staff even brought us some chicken katsu on the house to sample, which was also delicious. Walked away happy and with full bellies, all for a good price too! My daughter and I stopped in during her orientation for Miami! So glad we did! They give you a huge amount of food for relatively cheap price! The food was delicious. I've been to Hawaii 3 times and love the food! I got the teriyaki beef and short rib and my daughter got Panko chicken and teriyaki beef combo. We ordered some lumpia rolls as well. Food came out quick and it was around 1:30. I will be definitely be going back every time I visit Oxford! I wish they would offer kimchi as a side order it would be amazing to eat with the food. WOW! We found this little gem while walking looking for something to eat. The place is very clean and the service is great! Then the food....wow! I was transported back to Maui and could not stop smiling! Each of the meals we had came with rice and macaroni salad....even if you are not a fan of macaroni salad in general you have to try at least one bite! I promise you will love it! We came last Friday and loved it so much we came back tonight. We live about 40 mins away and plan on coming at least every other week if not more!
