The Peppermill is our favorite place to stay in Reno and on our last trip we decided to try Oceano after eating at some of the other restaurants there. Boy, are we glad we did! The ambiance is beautiful. The huge video screens featuring breathtaking scenes from around the world make you feel immersed in each destination and create such a relaxing atmosphere. The service was outstanding. My husband ordered the all-you-can-eat sushi and absolutely loved it. I had the Caesar salad with Dungeness crab and it was incredible. The crab was fresh, delicious and they were very generous with it. We are heading back to the Peppermill next month and Oceano is definitely at the top of our list. Highly recommend! read more

Although we arrived a bit late, almostb9 pm, we appreciated that the staff welcomed us though they advised we might need to rush the orders a little. Our souls kids love the sushi all you can eat deal, so our gang of 6 took it. Our server promptly brought us drinks and food. To be honest, I was skeptical with sushi all you can eat, but once the food arrived, my concerns disappeared. Just looking at the ginger and wasabi tray, I could predict that it would be delicious and fresh. I've read and heard about this place, finally made a stop here. Started with sourdough bread and butter, both were amazing. Enjoyed that with the Justin Cabernet. Delicious. I ordered the small fish and chips meal. Came with cole slaw - maybe the best I've ever had. For $48 (20% off $39) you get so much amazing sushi options, miso soup, seaweed salad and yummy gelato all come included. I ate so much nigiri my favorite pieces were the yellowtail (hamachi) it was melt in your mouth buttery, the donald duck salmon and the charred tuna (tataki). Some of the nigiri pieces like the red snapper, mussels and my second salmon order were a bit on the tough and chewy side. One unagi was super fresh and hot and buttery but the other was not as fresh and lukewarm. The rice was lackluster too not high quality. The hot night rolls was yummy and hefty- too much imitation crab on top. Overall I would say Oceano is great value and a nice ambiance inside and good for Reno locals to try! read more

Husband and I come here often. The last visit wasn't so great. Only because i have been dieting (glp) so I can't eat much. I did choose to do all you can eat sushi and was ok with paying the price even though I knew I wouldn't eat that much. I ordered one roll, my favorite here. The royal flush. It came out without the macadamia nuts. Ok, whatever right and I ordered one order of nigiri. I had 4-5 pieces of the roll left and got charged all you can eat AND for the long roll. Wth!! So way overcharged and wasn't even told or spoke to that she was going to do it. Fast forward to today. I ordered just a roll. Learned my lesson. Ordered the Bora Bora. First time trying this dish and it was absolutely worth it The couscous was perfectly creamy, the vegetables were fresh and beautifully buttered, and the swordfish, salmon, and shrimp originally came out grilled. The first attempt was just a little on the dry side, but what impressed me most was how quickly and professionally they fixed it. The second version came out SPECTACULAR The fish was soft, juicy, and full of flavor almost poached style with a light lemon cream and white wine sauce that tied everything together perfectly They also serve incredible in-house made sourdough bread with house-made butter, and honestly... their sourdough and clam chowder rival some of the best I've had in San Francisco. Service was perfect from beginning to end, and the beautiful ambiance with Hawaiian seascapes playing across the large TV screens made the whole experience feel relaxing and upscale at the same time. This is a beautiful restaurant and, unlike most restaurants in casinos , close to the door and parking lot so you don't have to wander around for half an hour to find it. I LOVE that. I'm allergic to shellfish but they have lots of fish choices too. For some reason I got a new York steak and am so happy- steak makes great leftovers. Good sautéed veggies that were not mushy - yay. I LOVE Oceano and I went there for lunch on a cold rainy day to get clam chowder and a salad. The server had a large party to tend to but 4 times he said to me over his shoulder "I'll be right with you...". It was getting ridiculous. He finally took my order. My food was good. Ended up getting chowder and a lobster roll. Then I go to pay and put down my player's card for my locals 20% discount. He says "Oh, no...not at lunch.". WHAT? Since when? I couldn't believe this and then just days later, I was driving north on 395 and the "Peppermill billboard says 20% off for locals...all day...every day." Policy change? Change your billboard. A favorite restaurant to go to in Reno just rubbed me the wrong way. I love them and they ripped me off and served me poorly. Bummer. read more

Due to construction in their parking lot and limited parking, we decided to dine here instead of leaving and risk not having somewhere to park upon our return. It was a Friday evening and everywhere was busy. We came by a little after 8pm and was quoted a 30-40 min wait time and I opted to be on their waitlist. Lucky for us, our wait was more like 15-20 minutes. The interior is bright & modern with 2 large screens on opposite sides that display travel destinations and locations. Seating was either in booths, at the bar, or tables with chairs. The noise level in here gets pretty loud due to the acoustics. We were seated and given menus on tablets. Water was given pretty quickly but the bread took a tad longer. Our waitress was friendly, explained the menu to us, and answered any questions we had (despite her being busy). My only critique re their AYCE is that it has one price for adults only. They don't have a separate price for children. She also kindly told me that their portions were big, so that was very helpful. I have not dined here in a number of years and their portions prior used to be smaller. Items ordered: 2x cup of clam chowder- Good flavor and plenty of clams Fish and Chips- Delicious, perfectly seasoned and battered and not dry! One of the best fish and chips I have had in a long time and it was a very pleasant surprise. Shrimp scampi- Delicious generous portion of pasta and shrimp. Chef's Mixed Grill- Loved the presentation and flavors of veggies and protein. The couscous had way too much parmesan and was literally stuck together. Def did not enjoy that texture or taste of the couscous. California Roll- I love that this roll has real crab and tastes so much better than the Ca rolls made with imitation crab. Visited: 10-5-25 I didn't have the Sushi so I can't comment on that this time. I did order the Chicken Scaloppini piccata and the Chef's Mixed Grille. The chicken piccata was great!! it also came with mushrooms that made every bite enjoyable. Rich creamy sauce with thin crispy pieces of panko chicken. I probably wouldn't order the Chefs Mixed Grilled again (Contains: Prawn, Halibut, Salmon, Sea Bass). You get a nice size portion of each fish and I'm no stranger to these three choices. For whatever reason the grilled fish had an extremely fishy taste (probably old) which made it not enjoyable at all. The only thing edible was the prawn and you only get 1. A very nice all you can eat sushi experience, indeed! For locals, Oceano is about the same price as any other all you can eat place (with 20% locals discount), but the quality is superior. The rolls here are LARGE so be mindful when ordering. I had the Summer Heat roll and it was fantastic - one of the best rolls I've had locally - but after the roll, I was pretty full. I had a few nigiri and then some edamame and that was the end for me. The salmon and yellowtail were excellent and my boys really enjoyed the included gelato at the end of the meal. This is mine and my husband's favorite all you can eat sushi place in Reno. Their Nigiri pieces are generous and fresh and that's typically what we order at all you can eat sushi. Tonight we had probably the best service we've ever had here, our waitress was very attentive and professional. The manager even stopped by to see how things were. Our waiter "Jaxon" was as perfect as could possible be. Food was pretty darn spectacular. The halibut that was served to my seat mate was an impressively large cut which surprised us. Not sure why, but it was beautifully larger than expected and beautifully prepared. My go to here is the Dungeness Crab salad and it was fab. I ordered extra crab but that was simply decadent.
