Well it's been quiet a long time since I've been here. Came here in the spur of the moment and was seated quickly at the bar. Service was good, checking to make sure everything was good periodically. I used to come here all the time with my family many years ago and it has gone downhill ever since. They have since gotten rid of their physical menus and switched to QR code menus, which makes me question the accessibility of the establishment. The service has overall been the worst part of the experience. Hardly anyone checks on you, drinks empty with hardly any refills, our chef at one point just disappeared at random and never came back leaving the work to his coworker. The unfortunate part is although I appreciate that the establishment is diverse, if you sit at the bar, you have the unfortunate experience of having most of your orders be wrong due to the lack of understanding English. At one point we got a mystery hand roll that wasn't even close to a Twister hand roll. So far this is the best testing sushi joint in Sparks that I have found. There's not a lot to choose from without going to Reno but living in Spanish springs I don't want to drive 30 min to go to dinner. I'm glad we tried this place - the manager was very attentive and the waitress was quick to get us drinks. The manager even brought us the chefs special roll in addition to our order since I asked what the popular rolls are and let us take home the leftovers (for all u can eat that's rare!) They had high chairs for littles and lively music and my 18 month old had a blast! They even found ketchup for her so she would eat her dinner - and we discovered she loves Miso soup! I recently went to Tha Joint Sushi and Grill. I had not been there in years; since the opening. I was not impressed with my first visit and had not been back. I decided to give them another try, and I'm glad I did. They were kind of busy and it took me awhile to be served at the bar; even between orders. Would leave a zero if I could honestly. The owner of the Restaurant is disrespectful to his employees, theres a difference between strict and outright rude. I will not be coming back after tonight. Service was slow and the owner was yelling at everyone for everything, even making several employees cry, the food on a regular day is okay and service a bit faster but never have I seen an owner so disrespectful. I absolutely love this place!!!!! The funny thing is I hate sea food! Been going here about two years now and I'm not a sea food fan. So it was absolutely amazing when I found out they had vegetarian sushi. A bunch of different ones and they're all delicious but THE WANTED is the absolute best one!!!!! My favorite sushi roll there. Staff is always nice and respectful. The food is also AMAZING! I usually go for the all you can eat which I think they have everyday until 4pm. And all you can eat is not available on weekends. It comes with unlimited sake (which i absolutely do not care for at all but maybe you will) They have different flavors of sake. At the end of your meal or more like buffet I would say lol you get to pick a dessert. The unlimited sushi and sake and one dessert comes all included in their daily all you can eat lunch special. This place is absolutely one of my top favorites places to eat when in town. Can wait to go next month after my movie date! Highly recommend this place. Wow, what a fantastic Five Star Dining Experience at Tha Joint in Sparks off Los Altos Pky. We were welcomed and seated at the sushi bar, the place was electric with lots of customers for a buzzing Saturday night. Loved the atmosphere and the service was outstanding! It's honestly sad to see this place go downhill. We've been eating here on occasion for many years, however, tonight will be the last time. I'm wondering if others aren't feeling the same as it was very slow for a Friday night however, the service even at that was horrible and the food was mediocre, but I think the worst thing that we realized was how filthy it was and when I say filthy, I'm not exaggerating. As we sat at a table and chairs near the window and looked at the barstools it was absolutely disgusting. This place in general needs a serious deep cleaning. And I mean everything!!! you could even see old food under the cabinets. Almost a half of an avocado, toothpick, I just can't believe how it's been let go. Had to get my bill adjusted 2 times was charged for items I did not order, when the new check came out still over charged finally had to fix it my self after waiting another 15 minutes. All You Can Eat: Their AYCE sushi is my favorite in Reno/ Sparks. Their house named roll is really good, Tha Jall Bait. Tha Highway is to die for. Tha MC is a great cooked roll. For veggie lovers Tha Vegan and Tha Tempura Veggie rolls are great. You can order Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck style nigiri which you have to try if you haven't yet. I'm an especially big fan of their mussels. Sashimi Combo: This is a great choice if you are trying to avoid rice. The serving of fish is very hearty and filling. I feel like I got more fish than if I had done AYCE. I might have asked for more ponzu sauce but you only need that if you really like to drown your fish. Ambiance: Ambiance leaves a bit to be desired. The TVs are blue from being on so much. The tops of the soy sauces are cracked. There's some work needed to make the interior really shine, but I can say that I've always felt like the environment is clean. Service: Always prompt and polite. They are okay with a party that has one person doing AYCE and one person doing single rolls. Just help them out and list the rolls you got al la carts on your chopstick paper to help them out. I wasn't even sure I wanted to write this review. Because even in my one star reviews, I find something good to say. Unfortunately this experience has not one positive word. This review isn't so much for other diners, as it is for the management. So I go in last night July 12, 2025, for my birthday. My wife was taking me out. We walk in, and there's a gentleman in a sports jacket directing traffic. He asked us if we wanted a booth or a table. I see the restaurant is completely packed except for one table in the corner, I point to it and say I'll take that table. Right then another couple walked in behind us, and appearing magically behind our guy is a small Asian girl who asked the couple how many in their party, they answer two and she leads them straight to our table without talking to the gentleman we were talking to. They walked right around us. Now this is one of those moments you can go Karen, or you can just go with the flow. He saw how upset my wife was though, and he knew it wasn't OK. So he went back to talk to the other hostess that did that. I implored him not to, because I knew what would happen. This was going to be a used car sales deal, "let me talk to the boss"and come back with some contrived story. Which is what happened. He tried to say they were there before. They were not. But, I am a "go with the flow" kind of guy so I talked to my wife into going to the sushi bar even though we were ordering entrée items. A young man came by and asked if we were eating the all you can eat sushi? I told him no. Then I called him back over to ask him if that included appetizers, he said it did not. I said OK then. 20 minutes go by, no one even looks at us. And the sushi guy, I'm not gonna call him a chef, saw us sitting there for 20 minutes but the only thing you could do was check out my wife every chance he got. We were texting back-and-forth how obvious he was. At this point I put a five minute timer on my watch, and when it expired I was leaving. We did get a water and Coke from the kid that sat us down. At the four minute mark, my wife flagged somebody down and says "hey we've been here for 20 minutes." The girl says, "oh my goodness I'll get your server." Another five minutes goes by , and we are done. So we tell the sports jacket guy to ring us up for the Coke we are leaving. And he acts completely astonished, dumbfounded even by the acts that have happened. This is inexcusable. I liked this place, but I have noticed that it has gotten too busy for its size. And when you have critical errors like this, that cause people to miss their special days, well then you're not serving the customers at all. It took us over an hour to find another restaurant that had what we both wanted and finally get food. It pretty much ruined my night. No one should be doing that. And shame on that waitress, what were those her friends? Because it was suspicious as all hell. Sorry, not one positive out of this review but maybe a lesson for them if they read it read more

Great sushi "joint" right here in Sparks! There aren't many restaurant options and we're so happy we have one that is delicious. It is your common sushi place and they do offer some non sushi items as well. All you can eat sushi (AYCE), is $27 for lunch and I believe $36ish for dinner. You can also get brown rice upon request, I loved that! We opted to set at the bar area, where kids are also welcome, and the rolls were made in front of us. The sushi chefs were great about asking what roll we wanted next. The deep fried rolls take longer so keep that in mind if you want one. It's definitely worth a try! Service can be hit or miss depending on the server you get, but is overall pretty good. My only complaint, with as much money as this place has got to be raking in, please clean this restaurant up. I've been to Tha Joint a couple times now since relocating here. Overall I think it's a decent spot, affordable, and I'd eat there again, but it wouldn't be my first choice. The restaurant is a standard sushi bar, and could be more neat/tidy. Their service is pretty speedy, and I enjoy their rolls aren't super large. I prefer smaller roll sizes, not overloaded with rice, which can be common with AYCE. All that said, the rolls all kind of have the same flavor profile, and most have imitation crab. I also prefer when the chef serves sushi with the accommodating flavor adds. Examples like; ponzu with albacore (binnaga/binchou) or a thin jalapeño with halibut. read more

I popped in for dinner with a friend the other night. We arrived just in time before their dinner rush. It filled up, and the line for seating and wait area filled up just as quickly as the dining room filled up. We were there for approximately 2 hours, getting our fixes and all of our cravings satisfied. The Joint is a family favorite! Appetizers like their ceviche with wonton chips are a deciding factor at times. Service was hit or miss here, but last visits here are all a solid 10 out of 10 for service and food. Their prices have gone up, but that's just everywhere in general. It won't be long until we're back for our next fixes. It's definitely cleaner than other sushi joints I've visited.
