I went to try their sushi for the first time with a new friend and we enjoyed our sushi rolls, shrimp tempura and edamame, and they even gave us crepe cake and egg rolls on the house! This place is great it's small and the service is excellent. The sushi and sashimi are amazing. We've never had to wait they gave us free egg rolls and free dessert. We ordered the chefs special which has 10 pieces of sashimi and a spicy tuna roll. So good and a lot food for two people. We also ordered steamed gyoza as an appetizer. We were full. Our previously favorite spot recently went under and we decided to eat at local places here in Suffolk, many nearby didn't meet the standard set by our favorite. Upon walking in to Ohana, it gives off a beautiful atmosphere with custom toasted wood furniture and comfortable seating, dazzling lights, and good music. Our hostess and server were absolutely lovely and friendly, as if we were regulars. The food arrived quickly, we were first given a edamame on the house, then put in our food orders; a appetizer "Crazy Shrimp Tempura" which was crispy, flavorful, and the sauce was delightful. We also ordered the "Boat Combo No. 1". It was a beautiful display and the taste was a match. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and decided that this would be our "go to" sushi place from now on. read more

Highly recommend!!!!! I stumbled upon this spot on yelp and didn't know it existed. This restaurant is fairly new. I remember another sushi restaurant at this spot before. I decided to give it a try with a friend and I'm sure glad I did. We walked in and it was a cute little spot. It was a weekday so there was no wait and was able to get seated right away. Upon sitting down they gave us complimentary edamame. The menu had a good variety of different types of sushi rolls, sashimi and kitchen items. We ordered the sushi combo which included 2 rolls and a salad. The kids ordered the fire chicken. The food didn't take long to come out. The presentation was pretty and the servings were huge and I wasn't able to eat all my food. We were also given a free rolls on the house. The sushi was excellent and tasted fresh and the fire chicken dish was huge. Enough for my two kids to share and it also came with rice. When we asked for the check they also gave us dessert on the house, mini chocolate eclairs. The servers were really friendly and attentive. They came to our table to check on us throughout the meal. This is one of our favorite Sushi places in Suffolk for the family! Let's start with the ambiance, it's a smaller sushi restaurant but it feels very friendly and gives you privacy in the seating options! I have never had bad service here! Everyone is friendly and fast, they also bring extra items (free) to the table while you wait! Edamame is a must here! When it comes to food there are so many options for the pickiest of eaters! My daughter won't touch anything other than the dumplings and chicken options so they are perfect! The sushi portions are generous and there are a lot of options! Drink wise there is also a variety which makes it nice depending if it's a kids night or date night! Ordered a sushi dinner. The fish was discolored, had a strong odor and poor taste. The fish (it could be tuna lol) in the roll was brown, it looked seared but wasn't. The fish wasn't really recognizable and we were unable to eat. Everything was soaked in "American sushi Mayo" to mask the flavor/odor. I wouldn't take the risk. Go elsewhere. Cute, clean, delicious. This is the best sushi place I've been to on the East Coast. The space is very clean, with an authentic and comfortable atmosphere. The service was wonderful, and we got complementary edamame while we ordered. We got the lunch box special and pork yakisoba. The Earthquake roll was divine and the yakisoba was really good too. Thai tea was well balanced and cheesecake was just the right size. They brought us edamame, cheesecake and the spring roll on the house !! First impression walking in is the beautiful ambience of this place. We honestly had no idea what to expect since we chose this place on an empty stomach and last minute. We were impressed with the stellar service provided by the staff and the attentiveness to ensure our cups were never empty. The portions were more than generous (as seen in my attached pictures). We ordered two rounds of the fried gyoza's (highly recommend!) and then two separate orders of the lunch special. I enjoyed the green tea and took a glance at the alcohol menu for future visits. They offer plenty of wine options. Needless to say we are more than pleased with the overall quality and service and felt it was well worth the price! ($50 for three people including two appetizers!) Hubby and I came here on a Wednesday evening. We arrived here around 6:10pm but needed to be somewhere at 7pm. The semi small restaurant was nicely lit and had pleasant music playing. When we alerted our server that we were on a time crunch she assured us we'd get it on time. We were then greeted with complimentary edamame. This is another yama Chen opened up in the the spot that was MoMo Sushi. The inside is all redesigned and has a bit less seating. The menu is the same as the others in the area. We came at a very busy time and food and service was pretty slow. But the waitress gave us complimentary edamame (they were cold) and a Candy Cane roll (free with $20 purchase during grand opening). The appetizers were a all disappointing. The fire chicken was not spicy, just crunchy chicken drizzled with siraricha and mayo. The tuna tataki was just tuna slices on top of seaweed salad. They don't have actual tempura sweet potato, it's just sweet potato fries out the bag. I could tell each roll was made to look pretty. They all had artistic sauce swirls and a flower on a pile of cabbage. Some of the rolls were better than others. But they have a limited selection of fish and the sushi rice was too sticky. The rolls were had fresh fish and were pretty big. None were sloppy or falling apart. For the inexperienced sushi visitors, this might be the place with its simpler selection of fish and many cooked rolls. read more

We had a spectacular dinner here for a feel reasons. First, the interior is so warm! The decor is very inviting and it's so different from the previous restaurant that occupied the space. We both went with a sushi roll combo for dinner, and the food was fantastic. What set this place apart from my usual sushi spot was the service. We came in an hour before closing and were heavily treated! We started off with complimentary edamame which was a nice surprise. An even better surprise was shrimp tempura on the house and later eclairs brought after our plates were taken away. We were so ecstatic about the treats and to to top it off, we were gifted with wooden chopsticks and a spoon set! The sushi was very fresh and we left extremely full. Our experience here was nothing short of amazing and I'll be sure to make this my new regular spot in Harbourview. read more

Came here right when they opened at 4:30 with my sister. The ambience of this place is like a spa. There's cute lights everywhere and the music is so relaxing i almost fell asleep. Our waitress was so friendly and very attentive. (i mean we were the only people there, but still) We both order the dark brown sugar boba milk tea and let me tell you, one of the best milk tea drinks i've ever had, and i've had a lot! the boba pearls were cut up into pieces and a little chewy but still delicious. but be warned. it is a pretty big drink. We shared the Earthquake roll which was absolutely delicious. Nice and fresh fish and great taste. We, also, both ordered the spicy chicken ramen. (It is originally the chicken ramen but our waitress said that we could get it spicy) Very hearty and comforting dish, especially for the colder nights. Very big serving. The broth was delicious, but not the best i've ever had. I would get it again though. Lastly, we got spring rolls on the house and cheesecake bites on the house as well which was so unexpected but very sweet. Would rate a 9.5/10. Highly recommend! read more

We really wanted to like this place but unfortunately not. After living in Japan we were hoping for some authentic sushi, miso soup, and ramen. None of them were even close. The miso was watery with no flavor. The ramen was tasteless with very little authentic flavors (and had tomatoes which is bizarre). And the sushi was sort of lackluster and over fried. It also took 30 minutes to get our food which was pretty surprising, and the water we were served tasted like chemicals. The service, however, was phenomenal. Our waitress was very attentive, she continued to check on us while we waited for our food, and tried hard to make sure our food was coming. She also made sure to tell the chef of an allergy so I didn't end up in the ER on a Friday night, which he made sure to acknowledge and ensured I was safe. All in all, we probably won't be back, but that is because of the food and not the service. read more

We were somewhat frequent visitors of the previous sushi establishment that was in this location; however, I would have to say that this first visit to Yama Chen's exceeded expectations. Ordering through their app was super easy and convenient. We placed the order hours ahead and found it had just been bagged as we arrived. In addition, they threw in a small dessert on the house. Who doesn't love a free dessert? We ordered 6 of the specialty rolls. Though I can't recall all of them, there was one that was deep fried that was amazing.
