This was my first time trying Yama Chen's and I think I finally found a new favorite sushi spot! They also added a nice touch by added face masks (which we've been using). In this order we got two miso soups, an earthquake, Superman, Yama, Hawaii, and a rainbow. When I tell you we licked our plate clean... we licked it cleaaann. But when I got my to go order home, I was like, "EXCUSE ME?" The portions are huge which is unusual for sushi. I ordered the king crab and shrimp tempura rolls and they came in this adorable to go box that was sectioned out with the 2 rolls and a complimentary side of edamame. Um, thank you! I love edamame! Finally got a chance to try this place out since the restaurant has been renovated and I am so glad I did. For starters, when we sat down we were brought a plate of edamame on the house which was tasty. My boyfriend had 2 bowls of the miso soup which he said was really good. We ordered a shrimp tempura roll and a earthquake roll and they also brought us a specialty roll on the house! I can't say enough good things about the food. It was so fresh and flavorful. The service was great too, very friendly and we got our food pretty quickly after ordering. When we were finished with our dinner they even brought us a little plate of cream puffs on the house! The waitress was nice and attentive, on top of that they gave us a on the house Candy Cane Roll. I'm already loving this place come visit some time, the price is around $12+ and it's worth the price for the items we got. The Yakisoba is quite flavorful with tomatoes popping along in your mouth. I am not use to tomatoes being in my Yakisoba, but I was still a nice take on it. I would prefer to remove the tomatoes and edamame next time around. The Candy Cane roll is a burst of crab flavor stuffed nicely and mmmm makes you warm in your soul. The Volcano roll was cooked just right and still nice and hot when it came out. We were given a complimentary edamame, complimentary candy cane roll, and a complimentary dessert! I recommend the fried gyoza as an appetizer. The sushi is great as well. For lunch, I had the pick two for $9.95 and got the spicy tuna and the shrimp tempura. It came with a ginger salad and a single gyoza. I left full and satisfied. For those not interested in sushi, they offer ramen and hot kitchen meals such as chicken teriyaki. Typical rolled are around $7, specialty rolls $12, and hot kitchen items $15. read more

Pretty nice little place. The staffs are super nice. They gave us free samplers and free desert samples! At the end, they gave use a free wooden cup with and set of fancy chopsticks and a wooden spoon. This is a pretty cheap place for sushi. My expectation for sushi and sashimi is very high so I wouldn't say this is the best, BUT; it 's good enough. We got the sashimi regular plate and an explosion roll (I think). Both were good. This place doesn't have all the traditional Japanese favorite dish, but it's has enough. If you are hungry and is in a rush for sushi, this is your spot. Don't expect upscale quality food, but they do have an upscaled services. I would come here again. They have Ramen too, so I'm excited to try that the next time around. Stay tune for that. read more

Dined in for lunch. We were impressed by the decor and were seated promptly. The menu is well illustrated and explains the various dishes quite accurately. The chop sticks, napkin, a plastic fork, and two toothpicks are delivered to each guest in a sealed sanitary envelope. The soy sauce on the table seemed to be of excellent quality. Although delivery of our food to the table took longer than I expected, our server, Crystal, more than made up for the delay by keeping our drinking glasses full and delivering complementary edamame, gyoza, and bite-sized pieces of strawberry cheesecake over the course of our meal. The house salad was better than most sushi restaurants in that it was made of mixed greens and a cherry tomato rather than merely being iceberg lettuce with some shards of carrot shaved on top. We enjoyed our rolls and I was impressed by the quality of the pickled ginger garnish on each plate. read more

When I took the first bite of my candy cane roll...... a feeling of joy spread from my taste buds to my brain. Not many sushi restaurants are open right now which led me to try YamaChen's. I'm glad I did! Currently, you need reservations because of the COVID restrictions. Unfortunately, I did not know this when my daughter and I showed up for lunch, however, they took down our name and had a table for us in 10 minutes. The lady serving was the nicest ever.
