a plate of sushi on a table

Not a bad dining option for a restaurant near the air force base. The staff are even ethnically Japanese. Problem is, the food is subpar. I got a sushi combo. The presentation was good. The fish tasted old though. It seems like most of the customers here are old retirees.

We came here to celebrate friend's birthday. We have decided on these items from the menu. - Sashimi 16 pcs chefs choice. - Vegetable Tempura - Beef Teriyaki includes soup, Sunomono salad, and rice. - Chicken Katsu served with tonkatsu Sauce. - Edamame - Agadashe Tofu I prefer my Agadashe Tofu plain rather than with a sauce. For my Sashimi, I favor thin slices over thick ones. Overall, the food is delicious and satisfies my cravings. The staff is friendly and courteous. The place is quiet, with cool ambiance.

*** Vegetarian Review, Part 2 *** Service - always friendly and attentive. They are a 5-star staff. Food - my original review hyped up their tendon donburi. I originally gave this place a strong 4-stars because of this dish alone. It was unique to Ohkura -- never seen it at another Japanese restaurant. They would substitute the shrimp with more vegetables and it was sweet, crispy, and so savory! Delicious. Well, this is no longer on the menu so I can no longer recommend this place for vegetarian eaters. They have other donburi items, but when asked if they can make the vegetable donburi that has been on the menu for as long as I can remember, they won't do it. So, for vegetarians, the only item to eat as a main dish is vegetable tempura, but let's be honest, vegetable tempura is really an appetizer. So, sadly, after at least a 15-plus years, this is most likely our last trip. Please continue to go if you are a meat eater as our meat eating family and friends really enjoy the non-vegetarian dishes. Thanks for the memories Ohkura.

Why oh why has Yelp failed us again? Went to meet my Davis friends because my homie was celebrating a birthday and wanted Japanese food so I looked on Yelp and found this tour star place. From the outside it's in a sketchy mall a couple of stores down from an adult shop. The roads are horrible so be careful of all the potholes outside because they are huge and will ruin your tires. Only people in the restaurant and they were slow. First off NOT real crab in the California roll. Secondly the fish isn't fresh. The sesame chicken according to my friend was inedible. So much for a good birthday lunch. Rice in the bento box was stale and the gyoza was over fried. The shrimp tempura roll was cold and the unagi in top was cold as well. Super salty miso soup and just horrible food all around. My beef teriyaki was super salty and dry. Skip this place.

Great customer service great atmosphere great food!!! We'll be coming back can't wait.

Food always fresh always Always fresh food fresh ingredients cooked really well great customer service.

After a couple of my favorite Japanese restaurants closed, I was looking for a good Japanese restaurant (within the area) to dine at. I thankful to have discovered Ohkura! The staff are pretty friendly and they give good portion sizes. I forgot what I ordered now, but I remember the beef being moist and super tender! I can't wait to dine here again!

Lunch Box #7 Sesame chicken & teriyaki beef with salad and rice

I stopped by this restaurant for lunch while I waited for my prescriptions to be ready at David Grant Hospital on Travis Air Force Base. I was alone and arrived at 12 pm, sharp. I was told there was a 20 to 30 minute wait to be seated, so I decided to wait. I was finally seated after a 30 minute wait. I noticed, they are hurting for help since only the one owner and looked like their son was serving the dining room and two thirds of their dining room was closed. They were only seating at five tables. I ordered their lunchbox #7 which arrived promptly and the food and service was good. They no longer have a daily lunchtime special like they did before the pandemic and the prices have risen approximately 40% so previously a meal cost of $10 is now $14, post pandemic, it's a little pricey and smaller portions than before. Soft drinks are $3.50, and after tax and tip for my lunch, my total was $24. So a little expensive for lunch, hence the four star rating.

Definitely something I'd order again. The place was a little small but clean, our waitress was really nice, and they were cool with my service dog, no issues at all. Everything came out to $49 and some change, which honestly wasn't bad for everything we got. I'd definitely go back. Good food, good prices, nice service, and those fresh oysters were definitely the highlight for me

Love the people too. I would give more than 5 stars if I could!

Haruki sushi that's where, it's in Vacaville and next to Jack and the box, the food is so good, I've been here a few times and it's busy but never full, always room at a table. Ambiance, is Japanese fish on the wall kitty cats waving at you, the whole kitten kaboodle ( see what i did there) Anyway, it's a nice place to come enjoy a great meal with the family or a date. The food, oh man let me tell you, my two grown boys treated me to dinner, I had two ordes of the ahi poke salad sounds like alot but when you taste it you will shake your head yes, and nobody is asking you questions. Just in your head celebrating with a yessss! The seaweed salad is out of this world, it definitely satisfied my poke cravings. As a family we had Dragon, Dynamite, Sumo, Dancing Spider and Fantasy rolls. Sounds like alot but man it's sooo good, we all know how to use chopsticks but about halfway through my Asian wife gives up and asks for a fork, lol (I got scolded for adding that) I asked my boys 3 times which was their favorite, they said they loved them all. I asked if you could only have one which would it be, they said the Dragon roll, The spicy edema had great flavor. The service, the service was friendly and ready to fill your glass as needed. Not big on conversation but I assume the language barrier had something to do with that. In all its a great place bring the famBam and enjoy, Price is 10- 15 bucks a roll. Worth every dollar Enjoy

There was a good crowd inside, but not too crowded. I ordered the two specialty roll lunch special. I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually good considering where it's located in the Bay Area. Luckily for me, I live nearby so now I have a go-to sushi restaurant now. what I like about the food was that it wasn't too salty nor too saucy. The miso soup that came with my meal was also perfectly seasoned meaning not too salty and just the right amount of umami. What I also like about it was that it was hot when it came to my table. The restaurant looks very clean and the waitresses are very friendly and polite. My only complaint was that the food took a little bit too long to come out but it's OK because they make good food not fast food and I was willing to wait since it was my first time there. so if you are very hungry, don't expect your food to come out right away unless the restaurant is empty. I would definitely come back and test it out for consistency, but so far it's a plus for presentation, taste, freshness, value, and store cleanliness.

We did the AYCE and I definitely got my money's worth. The service was courteous and prompt. The ambiance was typical for a K-BBQ spot- the open floor plan makes for a slightly louder place, but at least the music was not blasting so loudly that conversation was hindered. The menu has meat and other dishes that can be ordered a la carte, if all you can eat is not your thing. (Or if you don't want to have to grill your own meat.) We ordered: -Pork belly (regular, thin sliced, and soy garlic. All great, but the thin sliced has always been my favorite). -Marinated beef (tasty). -LA ribs (well marinated and not too salty). -Bulgogi and the Hawaiian bulgogi (the Hawaiian was good and I like the pineapple chunks to grill,, but preferred the regular because it was less sweet). -Shrimp (head and shell on, be prepared to peel and de-vein after grilling). -Marinated baby octopus (one of my son's favorite things he had there). Some highlights that will bring me back: -Sliced pickled radish to wrap the meat for a low carb option. -Glutinous rice paper to wrap the meat (nice and chewy texture, great touch to the marinated meat). -ALL of the banchan was spot on. Zingy kimchi, firm broccoli, not too sweet fishcakes, and seasoned bean sprouts were among our faves. -Last but not least, the crispy chicken wings. Crispy like Korean fried chicken should be with delicious sauces (we tried the sweet and spicy, and the soy garlic). Worth it to come back just for that. We will definitely be going back soon!
