Hello all, first thank you to all my followers, let me tell you, I moved here from living in Hawaii for 18 years, the food is Amazing for the most part, but, now that I live in the mainland where do I go for a good poke bowl? Haruki sushi that's where, it's in Vacaville and next to Jack and the box, the food is so good, I've been here a few times and it's busy but never full, always room at a table. Ambiance, is Japanese fish on the wall kitty cats waving at you, the whole kitten kaboodle ( see what i did there) Anyway, it's a nice place to come enjoy a great meal with the family or a date. The food, oh man let me tell you, my two grown boys treated me to dinner, I had two ordes of the ahi poke salad sounds like alot but when you taste it you will shake your head yes, and nobody is asking you questions. Just in your head celebrating with a yessss! The seaweed salad is out of this world, it definitely satisfied my poke cravings. As a family we had Dragon, Dynamite, Sumo, Dancing Spider and Fantasy rolls. Sounds like alot but man it's sooo good, we all know how to use chopsticks but about halfway through my Asian wife gives up and asks for a fork, lol (I got scolded for adding that) I asked my boys 3 times which was their favorite, they said they loved them all. I asked if you could only have one which would it be, they said the Dragon roll, The spicy edema had great flavor. The service, the service was friendly and ready to fill your glass as needed. Sorry the pics aren't the clearest -- we ordered to-go and ended up eating in the car. The restaurant was pretty full, which was actually cool to see for a Saturday night! We ordered the Lion King roll, the Las Vegas roll, and a couple pieces of nigiri. Overall, everything tasted nice and fresh. The Lion King was my favorite -- perfectly baked with great flavor. Definitely the standout for me. The Las Vegas roll was good, but some of the fish was a bit chewy, which is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. The staff was friendly, and our order was ready in about 20 minutes, which isn't bad at all considering how busy they were. For a spur-of-the-moment Saturday night sushi run, it hit the spot. Picked this place as a halfway meeting spot for lunch with a friend. It's in a shopping center right off the freeway and a hidden gem. The restaurant space is open and clean, and the staff friendly. We were greeted and seated right away. We shared orders of edemame (served warm) and chicken karaage (nicely crisp and tender with a slightly spicy sauce). We both elected the Make Your Own Bento Box - Mine was sushi focused with a dragon roll, spicy tuna roll and Alaska roll - all very fresh and tasty. My friend went sushi free with chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu and mixed tempura - it Al looked delicious and she throughly enjoyed it. OH. MY. GOSH. It's the second time dining in and I love it here. Prices are amazing and everything is super fresh. The Hawaii roll is my favorite and they slice the lemon very thin, not like some rolls with large chunks on top that are all rind. My friend got the fantasy roll, also incredible. But the MAGIC FIRE BALL? I hate mushroom, with a passion, and this was the most delicious thing I think I've had ever. It's listed as a new menu item and I hope it never goes away. Great happy hour option! Plenty of parking in the lot, place was clean, service was prompt. The staff seemed very friendly. The restaurant is on the smaller side but feels very cozy. When we arrived the place was relatively packed and people seemed to be enjoying their food. We tried the chicken karrage, which was very tasty. The chicken was cooked well, with a nice thin batter, and came out fairly quickly. I enjoyed the spicy mayo dipping sauce it came with as well. I just wished the portion size was larger. For rolls, we tried the caterpillar roll, vegas roll, rainbow roll, and the dancing spider. All were good, well-portioned, and the fish melts in your mouth. Driving home from Sacramento. We decided we want Japanese for lunch. I remembered my first visit here, so we stopped. Got here at about 1:00, place was packed with 4 people plus our 3 waiting. We were seated and began enjoying some great food. I had sashimi and Blue Fin Nigiri. The Escolar was really good, never had it before. The roll and Bento Box were delicious. Lunch with co-workers and I got the 3 selection lunch special. It comes with Miso Soup, Salad, Rice and a large choice of selections. I always try Chicken Karrage when I get the chance, along with 3pcs each of Hamachi and Tuna Sashimi. Everything was good, but I really wanted to mention the Karrage. I lived in Japan from 1997-2004 and fell in love with Karrage. I've never been able to get anything close to as good in the US. This was very close. Moist, seasoned, and fried perfectly. And the people are really nice. That's a great combination for a new fave. I was delighted when I waved off the wasabi paste and asked for real wasabi relish and the gentleman smiled and brought it to me. To me, that says that they care about the sushi and it's not just a mill. I did order the combination lunch, as this was my first time here. Teriyaki Chicken was tender - but it was drenched with sauce. You don't need to use half-a-bottle of sauce for a few slices of chicken. The salad that comes with the combination was also drenched in dressing. Otherwise, the soup was tasty. The spicy tuna roll was standard - nothing stood out one way or the other. The nigiri, on the other hand, was fresh and flavorful. They know how to treat their fish so they can highlight their offerings. This spot offers a great happy hour menu. The happy hour starts at 2:30pm, so it makes an inexpensive lunch choice. There are some beer and roll options on the HH menu. I would definitely recommend HH because the regular prices for the rolls are overpriced in my opinion. The service was good and the quality was equally good, but for lack of ambiance in a strip mall, the prices are on the higher end. I ordered the caterpillar roll, and upgraded to actual crab, the helicopter roll and a Blue Moon. The rolls were good, but I was disappointed that the crab that I paid extra for (I did not want the imitation crab,) wasn't pure crab. The crab seemed runny, like it was mixed with a mayo base, or perhaps it was just canned. It wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting. I will definitely be returning for HH. read more

Looking for another place for a great happy hour. We came in on a Wednesday around 5pm. It was happy hour: ) We were seated quickly. This restaurant is so cute and has a cozy atmosphere. Our server was friendly and quickly took our order. Ordered two rolls from the happy hour menu: A's and torched scallop along with an order of karaage chicken. Two plum wine drinks from happy hour too (?cant remember the name) The plum wine cocktails were most delicious!! The karaage: a very small appetizer (eight pieces) and had either a lot of fat or skin. Crispy fried it was served with a sweetish mayo sauce. - not quite the authentic Japanese kind I'm used to but it was good in a pinch. The rolls: A's was freshly made and was good. Also had some sauce drizzled on top-a little too much and too sweet for my taste but again...it was good. The torched scallop roll was well constructed and had what looked like the same sauces that the A's roll had. It was good sushi, but not very authentic Japanese. Opted for the grilled calamari, sumo roll, and the Osaka roll. My friend got the Amazon roll, another got the lunch special with two items (katsu and teriyaki beef), and the haruki special roll. The grilled calamari came out last. It comes with a light orange colored sauce. Delicious! I was full after two rolls and a plate of calamari. I enjoyed the flavors of the rolls. Both tasted fresh and the sauce wasn't overwhelming. The service was very polite. Forks available if needed. For four people it was around $120 after tip. Which isn't bad. That would average $30 per person. They have a great happy hour special. Certain rolls are half price. I'll very likely be back for happy hour! read more

I was even more excited to try it seeing how many people were enjoying their plates. I ordered the Karage and the stuffed jalapeños with tuna and cream cheese. The Karage was very good, and the dipping sauce had a nice flavor. I had to ask for a lemon wedge to squeeze over the chicken, but it was good. The jalapeños were good and spicy. Fried and tasty. I also ordered the 49er roll, Real Crab California Roll, and the Double Crunch Roll. All were good, the Snow Crab had a hint of fishiness that I particularly didn't care for. Other than that the other rolls were perfect. The young lady who took care of us was very good and attentive. Been here a couple times now, and food and service is always consistent and great. If I had to be critical of anything, I do always feel like I'm being rushed by the staff, regardless of whether there are people waiting for seats or not. Being prompt and attentive is one thing, constantly trying to get you to order when you've not even had 3 minutes to peruse the menu gets mildly annoying. The food makes up for this, however due to this, this place feels more like a quick-service/fast-food restaurant than a sit down dining establishment.
