My initial review was a 5/5 but recently dining in Hinatas, I ordered the same roll as always, Mafia and Scallop special but my rolls looked so different. The scallop special I used to get is not baked in a tin foil nor did it have jalapeños on it. Mafia wasn't drastically different but it wasn't the same. Service has also gotten slower due to short staff maybe, but they forgot my Thai tea the entire meal until I mentioned it and as I said I no longer need it they still gave it to me in a to-go container. (No point) Asked for extra hot water many times and waited but it never came either. This was a medium rare steak that was prepared a bit under (the outer ends were spot on for medium rare). Great options for cocktail and prepared well. Service is consistently good, servers are not shy to check in and strike a conversation. Food was average - nothing of note one way or the other. The service was awful from beginning to end. It took 20 minutes to get waters and another 15 after that before someone came by and take our order. Time between ordering the food and receiving it was average, so the kitchen seemed to be more on point than the table and bar service. We've been to numerous hibachi grills. In my opinion, the food was just OK. We ordered the Hibachi dinner. It came with soup and salad, the entree and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. The soup was only half full, the salad dressing literally dripped off the lettuce because it was so watery, the entree was seasoned (but not very well) and ice cream was only half a scoop. We called in a to-go order at 6:24 pm and they said our food would be ready in 25-30 mins. I come in at 6:48 pm to pay and pick up. After taking my payment the waitress walks to the back without saying a word and brings out food puts it on the bar counter then disappears for 15 mins without giving me any update on my order. All the employees were just walking past me not even asking if I were helped. It's 7:15 pm so I ask where my order is and that it's been awhile. After asking about my order I see the original waitress bagging that same food into a bag but it's been sitting for lord knows how long now. So they give me cold food thinking it's okay and I'm just fed up with them and ask for a refund but they even deny to give that. So after a couple of mins of arguing with them I just grab the cold ass food and leave. Moral of the story, their customer service is trash! read more

We had a dine in experience for Fathers Day. It was really nice and the food was delicious. We had a small mix up with ordering in the very beginning where some things were unclear. When you order one item, for example, fried rice, it is only indicated for the person ordering. Of course you can always share but the waitress was adamant that it was only one serving. If you have a party of 5 and you all want chow me in then everyone would have to order that. If one person orders then they will only serve that person. We came to Hinata for the hibachi for my co-worker's last day. We reserved a table for 5:30pm and we were seated beforehand in a private room with the hibachi. Drinks and appetizers were quick to come out and since it was between 3-6pm, the we got Happy Jour prices on select drinks, sushi rolls and appetizers. For the hibachi, we each choose our main entree (each entree includes miso soup, salad, 3 grilled shrimp appetizer, grilled vegetables, fried rice and scoop or vanilla or matcha ice cream). Henry was our chef and he did a wonderful job with his cooking skills and jokes. We got to experience fire, Henry squirting sake into our mouths, Henry flipping pieces of egg into our mouths and fire juggling at the end of his service. There were quite a few out of our crown of 10 people that have never experienced hibachi dinner before, so they thought it was a lot of fun. The prices for hibachi $33 to $75 depending on your entree selection (most items were under $40). The flavor or the food was good overall and not overly salty. I had the Hibachi Steak (New York Steak) which was cooked to about medium well (I asked for medium), but was still tender and juicy. The grilled shrimp and grilled chicken (tasted my co-worker's dish) were good as well. The hibachi itself was great. Our cook, Sean, was the highlight of the night--fun, energetic, and amazing with the kids. We tipped him directly because he truly made our experience. Unfortunately, the service was the complete opposite. Our male server was blunt, inattentive, and disappeared after dropping off the check, leaving us unsure what to do. We had to go to the front and wait again just to pay. What really crossed the line was the server confronting me about the tip, saying it "wasn't enough" and trying to explain their internal tip-splitting policy--as if that should influence what I choose to leave. Even after I explained we already tipped the cook, he was still upset and said he'd take it to management. It's clear the chefs are great, but the service (and possibly the management behind it) needs serious improvement. read more

I've been here a few times so I thought I'd finally give them a review. What I dislike is how every time we walk in it takes forever for us to be greeted. I get that they're busy, but they walk around purposely avoiding eye contact. Okay so we finally get seated and we're just sitting there. No menus, no water, no nothing. I get up and grab us some menus. It takes another 10 minutes, and me flagging someone down, for us to order drinks and appetizers.
