We were looking for a quick, easy bite and some caffeine before we moved to our next location. Splitting a ham & cheese on fresh sourdough, then each getting a bevvie(he likes a cup o' Joe in the afternoon, but I had a delicious spiced Chai with whole milk) was a perfect little snack to keep us revved up. What a lovely way to chill out, or be productive! Parking is free on the street, and also in a lot on the opposite side the square. I love that they also support other local, small businesses and artists with some of the items they have for sale. I couldn't resist a bag of kettle corn for just $6 and then read the label that it was produced in a fully licensed local, private kitchen. Lic and expiration date, as well as ingredients and location of manufacturer were clearly stated on the packaging, making me feel real comfortable about my purchase and support of local businesses. How cool to have a business that provides space for other, even smaller businesses! The matcha flavor was barely there and it tasted a bit watered down. My drink also tasted a bit grainy, which was unusual. While I finished it, I can't say I enjoyed it. My husband ordered a black coffee and thought it was good though! When I came on a Saturday morning, the line was long but it moved quickly. Service was standard. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way for this spot, however, if you're looking for a quick spot before hopping on the ferry, I'd avoid the matcha and stick to the coffee!

When I saw "fruits" listed as a side, I politely asked what kinds they offered since I like some fruits more than others. The cashier had to ask the cook through a window multiple times. (Understandably, there seemed to be a language barrier, which I didn't mind at all.) Eventually, they told me it was watermelon, pineapple, and cantaloupe. I said great, but I'd prefer not to have cantaloupe. Just the watermelon and pineapple, if possible. At that point, an older man (not the cashier, wearing a black shirt) chimed in from across the room and said, with attitude: "Then get something else." Completely uncalled for. I wasn't being rude or demanding, just making a simple request like anyone might when ordering food. With so few food options around, I was hoping for a more welcoming experience. Unfortunately, the attitude I got from that interaction made me feel unwelcome, so I left and I will never be returning.

I also asked for a recommendation, and the barista suggested their Biscoff coffee. That one absolutely blew me away! They even added pieces of Biscoff cookie on top, and I instantly fell in love with it. For dessert, we tried their mango sago. I honestly don't even know everything that was in it, but wow--it was so good. I could've easily eaten the whole cup myself The only thing I wish they had is a few food options, because I'm sure they'd be just as great. Their location can vary since they pop up in different spots, so I recommend checking their Instagram before going. I was a bit skeptical at first, but once I arrived and saw the owner roasting his own beans outside, my concerns were quickly put to rest. Overall, the coffee shop is great. The baristas are always friendly and helpful, and even though the place is often busy and packed, their customer service never falters. As for the drinks, I can only speak to their espresso and basic coffee, but in that area, they do not disappoint. While I don't think the roast is quite as good as Beacon, it is a very strong second in the area. Whenever I'm in Oxnard, I don't hesitate to stop by Dolce Vita for a great caffeinated drink.

It's definitely a favorite with locals, but the line moves quickly, and the patio is dog friendly , so it's worth the wait on weekends. Strong coffee without being bitter whatsoever, it tastes like good quality espresso. And it wasn't too sweet, I got it half sweet with the vanilla, and it was nicely balanced. I wish there were less sweet specialty coffee options so I could try something more unique but it was still good!
