My granddaughter suggested we both get the Spiced Tuna Rolls ( I do get confused when ordering sushi and the # of pieces) so that worked out well.Six pieces each. The food was excellent. The fried oysters and octopus salad special was superb appetizers! Great flavors & sauces. The sashimi was delicious. Top notch sushi/sashimi/etc! Everything was "perfect" and had some of the best Tuna in years for my main (Tuna Lover Dinner). Figured it would just be an "on the Main Street/lunch place that also has dinner hours" but the service and the freshness of the fish/detail was great. This brand new sushi spot in Downtown Toms River has some of best and freshest sushi we have ever had. Cozy little spot, beautifully decorated in Japanese decor, featuring tables, a sushi bar and one of the nicest owners I've ever met, named Wei. He not only welcomed us and made us feel right at home, he described each dish in detail and you can see he takes so much pride in the quality and originality of his dishes and it's backed up by just how delicious everything we ate tasted. To start, Wei brought us over a complimentary appetizer, Seared Pepper Tuna, topped with greens and a mango chutney. Well like I said, so fresh and tasty, we were definitely off to a good start. Next we tried the Avocado Bomb appetizer, a dome of sliced avocado filled with spicy tuna, spicy crab, tempura flakes and topped with a delicious sauce. Well this was not only unique but just simply amazing. For our main course my wife and I split two of the best sushi rolls we have ever tasted. The Naruto Roll, tuna, salmon and whitefish wrapped with cucumber and served with a ponzu sauce and the OI Roll, shrimp tempura, avocado inside, spicy tuna on top with spicy mayo, eel sauce and crunch, both were so fresh and delicious. My wife, who loves eel, also ordered two pieces over rice and yes, you guessed it, they were fresh and delicious. Well, after all this great sushi, it wouldn't be right if we didn't end things with a great dessert and what a great dessert. The Crepe Cake is a must try. So light and creamy, definitely one of the best desserts you'll ever eat This first visit here couldn't have been better and since we live in the area, it will definitely be one of our go to sushi spots from now on. read more

Went for dinner last night. The service was not good. The girl spoke minimally and never checked in on us once in btwn bringing out our food. The worst part i couldn't get passed was that she was wearing black latex gloves the whole time. I was so grossed out by this. She served food, handled payments, and cleaned and cleared other tables without once changing them. Ordered the noodles which were oddly flavored and mushy. Spicy tuna was tasteless. Like uncovering a mosaic, each piece is a work of art expertly prepared with incredibly fresh ingredients. I had their miso soup, a takoyaki appetizer, and a California roll. Aromatic and beautifully plated, it was flat out amazing and delicious. The service is great also. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and obviously genuinely passionate about their craft. They guided me through their menu, offering me the best of what they had, and gave me various tasting samples as well...yummy. Had lunch at Oi yesterday and wow was it amazing. I moved to Toms River from NYC a few years ago and this place rivals some of the best places I've ever tried. The menu is smaller than some but I think this allows them to focus on the quality of their food, which you will certainly notice. The restaurant is BYO and located right in downtown Toms River, so excellent location. Please do not confuse it with the previous sushi restaurant that was in this location! This is a new restaurant, opened only a month ago, and is well worth the visit! As someone who has had wayyyy too much sushi in her life, you can trust that this is some of the best sushi I have ever tasted!
