I went to Oki on a rainy Saturday afternoon to enjoy some ramen. I immediately noticed how interesting the restaurant was decorated, this surprisingly caries over to the bathroom too. It is very unique but I enjoyed seeing something different. They had great mid 2000s music playing as well which was fun. The restaurant isn't huge but they have both indoor and outdoor seating options which is nice. The menu and ordering was all done through the QR code on table so we didn't have the chance to interact with the staff very much but everything came out quickly and correctly. We ordered the Oki Curry Ramen and the YAKISOBA noodles, both with fried chicken. Both dishes were delicious and I would recommend either depending on what mood you're in. The curry ramen was a little different than traditional ramen and was like a Thai/Japan fusion dish but it tasty and had a good kick to it and the different topping completed each other well. The yakisoba noodles had a great salty and sour flavor but since there wasn't a broth the chicken felt a little dry so we asked for a side of spicy mayo for dipping. A solid Japanese restaurant in the city, definitely worth a try if you're in Georgetown and are in the mood for a warm bowl of noodles! One of my favorite restaurants in DC. Maybe even my favorite! I eat here like once a month at least which is really saying something considering I really try to mix it up when it comes to trying new restaurants on the reg. My must order every time is the Oki Curry Ramen (Curry and coconut milk broth. Garnished with shallot, pickled cabbage, fried chicken and crispy noodle) I sometimes order an extra side of fried chicken but only if I'm feeling extra hungry. I like that if you order to go, they package everything up separately so your noodles don't absorb all the broth and the crispy noodles don't get soggy. It was heavenly. The perfect drink to have on a hot evening. I probably should've ordered more than one. The ramen was delicious! This is probably the first time that I've ever had an entire bowl in one sitting. It was a tad salty, but not so much to be turned off. I didn't eat much of the pork, but that's because it's a little difficult for me to eat with just chopsticks (I need more practice), and the soft boiled egg was the perfect topping. We went on a Friday afternoon and even though the restaurant itself is small we had no problem getting a table. The decorations/ambiance is so fun, bright and festive, even the bathrooms are decorated in bright crazy colors and decor. You can't help but smile while you are there. The food was amazing! We started with chicken potstickers which came with a peanut curry broth and Shishito peppers with bonito flakes and thick ponzu dipping sauce, both were delicious and I would absolutely order again. I had the Spider Tom Yum Ramen which was spicy and full of lemongrass flavor. The soft shell crab was perfectly fried. My friend had the Miso Ramen with jumbo shrimp which was equally delicious. I went to Oki Bowl for dinner and got the Karaage Bowl. It was basically 20% chicken, 10% toppings, and 70% rice. The chicken was pretty good, but I certainly would've liked a bit more complexity to the dish. Plus, I don't want to be paying $17 for a dish that's mostly just white rice. We were seated in a cute little outdoor alleyway next to the restaurant (the interior is also uniquely and nicely decorated). The service speed was decent and our waitress was attentive... maybe a bit too much. We arrived kind of early around 5:30. After having been there for maybe half an hour, the waitress started checking up on us seemingly every 5 minutes. As a naturally slow eater, I did not appreciate this. Then, about 45 min into our meal, she returned and placed the check on our table without us even asking and while I was still eating my rice. I don't think the restaurant was even that busy, but in any case, this passively aggressive way of basically kicking us out was not appreciated. At least they could've told us that they needed another free table and asked nicely for us to finish up. Overall, Oki Bowl is fine if you're a speedy eater, but slow eaters beware! You might be subject to the same mild passive aggression. Good thing I only had rice left in my bowl anyways. read more

I stopped by for dinner with my friend and was happy to see that there was limited seating-all indoor seating and social distance and limited capacity precautions being taken. The interior is an absolute beauty, I love the color and the ceiling art! I tried the Oki Curry Ramen, which was so tasty- I had never had curry broth in my ramen and so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised, try it if you'd like to be adventurous with your ramen base flavor! It came with some onions (a little less of which I would have preferred), crispy chicken, and fresh cilantro. The ramen portions are very generous! The staff was very respectful and tried to answer questions when we asked them. However I had noticed that our waiter's face was very stern, and sometimes seemed like we were disturbing a little by asking for further clarifications from the menu. My friend and I stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon based on a recommendation we got. It was conveniently near a museum we wanted to go to. It looks like a hole in the wall type place on the outside, but once you step in you'll think you've been transported to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory or the like. The interior is small but super vibrant and cheerful, contrary to the exterior. It wasn't busy when we came but it definitely filled up fast later on. You order through a QR code and it places your orders under a tab. It's convenient and saves you a lot of time flagging down a waiter, but can seem like service is lacking. Our orders came out pretty quickly after we ordered. My friend ordered the Miso Ramen Bowl and I ordered the limited edition Sakura Ramen Bowl, which is a dry noodle dish with shrimp tempura and veggies. We thought the flavors seemed very bland and it was a bit overpriced for what we got. Also to add on any toppings, it would cost an extra $2-4. We did think it was interesting that they had a fusion type menu though. I don't think I would go out of my way to come again unless I just happened to be in the area for something else. read more

Oki is an underrated hidden gem! I love my ramen and I honestly haven't found a place that beats Dakiya in Chinatown, but this spot is definitely one that I'll go to in conjunction with Dakiya! This option doesn't seem to allow for modifications, but the server was very helpful and I swapped the house sauce for soy sauce on the Mushroom Bowl to make it vegan. She correctly warned me the flavor wouldn't be the same without the house sauce (contains oyster sauce): it ended up being a little bland and salty. I would not recommend this restaurant to vegans, but I think my omnivore friends would enjoy trying it. read more

Next came the main dish, & I love the galanga ramen. Sweet, coconut broth, fried kale--and do NOT let it fool you--this is INCREDIBLY filling. The portions here are HUGE when it comes to the ramen. Oki Bowl is a great hole in the wall restaurant on the north side of Georgetown! The decorations in Oki Bowl are adorable and cozy, definitely a strong date night location. But with Oki, I've been coming here since like 2016. They used to have a location on M St which closed so the Georgetown one is their only location now and I visit at least twice a month, sometimes more lol. I always get the Tom Yum ramen. Sometimes the Spider Tom Yum if I feel like have crispy fried soft shell crab. But the standard Tom yum is just fried prawns. The SOUP in the Tom yum is the best ever. I don't eat pork, and it was pretty hard to find ramen I wanted that didn't have pork in the broth/didn't involve tonkatsu and didn't offer a swap on protein. The few vegetarian options didn't interest me... then I found this place! On UberEats, it advertised as coming with hard boiled egg, but I was very pleased to find it was in fact a soft boiled egg. Came with the broth in a separate container so I could add it myself, not everywhere does that. Twas appreciated. The ingredients were nice overall, but it was very fishy. I LOVE seafood, particularly crustaceans, but I don't like, "fishy," taste. It didn't taste like it was spoiled or anything, it just tasted so fishy, permeating the entire broth and even the noodles, that it did throw me off. An option to adjust spice level would've been nice--I would've liked it more spicy. Even though it was too fishy for me, I was pleased and I will try more from them. When you walk in, you are greeted by a colorful, eclectic, arrangement of ceiling decorations that resemble something you'd see at a Mexican restaurant. Not wanting to lose the last table, we asked the person in charge if we could sit down as long as we started ordering food for the table. He reluctantly agreed to sit us even though we were still waiting for our friends but noted that since we had been so patient, he would make an exception (thank you!) We ordered several appetizers for the table which were pretty tasty. The ramen was good, although not the best ramen I've ever had. The noodles were a little dryer than I would have liked and the broth wasn't my fave. Great place to come eat overall, and I give it an A+ for service. My siblings and I walked in on a Sunday for lunch and was surprised by the food. We got the shrimp shumai to share and thought it was great! I had the Tom yum ramen and really liked the flavor of it. Would definitely come back for the food alone. I thought the option to order via the app was interesting. Ate here for a quick dinner with friends and even though the food was probably three to three and a half stars, I bumped it up to 4 for the following reasons: 1. The inside, though small, is oozing with funky atmosphere. All kinds of crazy things to look at on the walls and ceiling. Arts and craftsy! 2. Definitely an Instagram worthy interior! The noise level isn't too loud. It was super hot today and the restaurant didn't have good ac but they had fans that helped. The food came out pretty fast, it was a good portion -- it was hard to finish. The broth wasn't too salty or too bland which was really good because other places usually have salty broths. My other friend who's visited before told me their other ramen wasn't the best but I liked the miso ramen. I'm not sure if it was just today or always, but there were two workers when we got there, one who went into the kitchen as soon as we came in and one that was serving us.
