Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Came here to get quick bite for my sushi crave. I ordered salmon, belly, tuna, amberjack, and eel sushi. Also order salmon skin hand roll. The fishes are fresh and sushi rice was cook perfectly. I usually eat ayce but sometimes eating at non ayce can revive the taste of high quality sushi in my taste buds.

Passing by Ventura, we tried sushi at Okumura. The staff were friendly and recommended the Chirashi Dinner when I wanted to make my own hand rolls with less seasoning than typical sushi rolls. Fresh ingredients are key. It's a cozy spot for an early dinner, with a pink-purple sunset outside

We thought that the prices were very high for what you get. One premium hand roll was $20 and the belly sampler was $30. We got enough to taste their sushi and meats, not really a full meal and it was still $80. All the fish was very fresh and tasty. Service was good! And they were very attentive. Ambiance is good for dates and friends. This might be more of a special occasion type restaurant. Or a splurge night.

My family and I had a great experience. From the moment we walked in, the owner was friendly and welcoming. The food was fresh and delicious. Our crispy albacore roll was one of the highlights, and the Philadelphia roll was another favorite. We also ordered the rock shrimp as an appetizer and it was perfectly cooked and really flavorful. It's always nice to find a solid local sushi place that feels warm and inviting. We'll definitely be back again.

Great little find on the Ventura Blvd row. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Very reasonable sake prices and an ice bucket is provided to keep it cold. We started off with the spicy salmon crispy rice. Perfectly warm and crispy rice. Love it when salmon is an option. Decided to try the belly sampler plate. One piece each of albacore, salmon, yellowtail and toro belly. Melts in your mouth. A couple of cut roles. You never see black code in a roll, so we were super excited and were not disappointed. The win win roll was very tender and the gold flakes were a nice touch. The Flaming cracker roll had great crunchy flakes on top! Booths are very spacious. After so many restaurants where the cram the tables on top of each other, it was so nice to be able to spread out and not worry about encroaching on someone else's meal. Great night. Adding Okumura to the rotation!

My go-to sushi spot has always been Dojo in Van Nuys--it's amazing--but I was hoping to find something closer to home for weeknight dinners after work. I decided to give this place a try, and I'm so glad I did. The service is outstanding, and the food truly exceeded my expectations. We ordered the gyoza, halibut carpaccio, red snapper carpaccio, garlic edamame, ribeye skewers, California roll, spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll. The gyoza were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside--full of flavor. The garlic edamame was also a standout. The way they mince the garlic and season the edamame is spot on. The halibut carpaccio was incredible--perfectly balanced between acid and salt. But my personal favorite was the red snapper carpaccio. The grapefruit paired with the acidity and salt created the most amazing flavor combination. The ribeye skewers are another must-try. They're grilled to perfection--always medium rare--and served with a green sauce that's absolutely delicious (I'm not sure what it is, but it seriously enhances the flavor). Their sushi rolls are fresh and consistently good. The only small quirk is that their shrimp tempura roll doesn't come with crab by default--but they always customize it for me. I just order a California roll and add shrimp tempura. It's perfect that way. All in all, this spot might just become my new weekday favorite.

The service is very slow, the food is soso, and they come slowly, not busy during lunch time on Saturday so you can tell this is not a popular place. While there are only a few customers, the waitress still miss our order so we end up canceling them. Not coming back. Not recommended to anyone.

This place never disappoints me. We may come here once every two months, but whenever we come, the fish is always fresh and tasty. The service is excellent and quick. Their white fish sampler is my favorite dish! And it has a pleasant ambiance!

Small house salad - you can see it's over dressed

This sushi restaurant was a high recommendation by a friend so we stopped in last week and had lunch. I have to say that I was surprised by a few of the things I ate. It has become my friends favorite sushi place and he's become a regulars regular. So as soon as he walked in we were seated at what appears to be "his" table. The service was great and I think even if you weren't a 'regular' it would have been good. Lunch wasn't busy so our sushi came with every extra thing we ordered. I started with a simple salad. Which was actually overdressed but it's a salad no harm no foul. We had the creamy rock shrimp which was a nice start. We then moved to a delicious mix of carpaccios. Tuna Salmon Kanpachi The tuna was good with gold flakes and all. But I can eat salmon carpaccio as long as the clock turns. The sauce that the kanpachi is was scrumptious. We tried three rolls and I'll rank them least fave to fave: Yellowtail Deluxe - it was good but for me a little too fishy. My friend loved it Crispy Albacore Crunch - it was simple and delicious. Plus I'm a sucker for drizzled eel sauce Garlic Lemon - I didn't think it would be anything to write home about but look at me writhing about it. Perfect blend of flavors We finished the meal with standard salmon nigiri and a fish I just recently tried in San Diego, Amberjack. Just love that fish. I'm sure everything there is pretty good so if you're looking for a new sushi spot in the valley that's not in sushi row. Give this place a shot. It's not inexpensive, but it is not expensive. I would say it is worth the try.

The restaurant was clean, the service was fast, and the price was reasonable. The fish tasted fresh, but they might be heavy handed with the sauce. Hand-cut rolls were larger than I thought, for the $8 it costs, and the other rolls were even larger. There's a sushi bar to face the chef, booth seats for couples, and tables that can be combined for larger parties. Parking is available in the back lot.

We ate here a few times. It is more like 3.5 stars but I can round to 4 because most of the sushi was very tasty and the fish was fresh. But I would deduct 1 star for service. The most recent time we went we did the omakase and the empty plates were not cleared in a timely manner before the next plates arrived. You do get a pretty good amount of food for the first tier omakase. 4 appetizer carpaccio plates and 14 pieces of sushi. Could have come with a snack for desert but it didn't. That's ok. I would deduct half a star also as the uni was somewhat bitter. Fresh uni tastes almost sweet like ice cream. Fish was fresh, above average but not spectacular. The presentation is good, they add some gold flakes to the nigiri which is something you don't usually see.

    Tasty rolls.,

The restaurant is located in a strip plaza, so there's plenty of parking, though it can feel a bit narrow, so be cautious. The restaurant has plenty of seating, but I've seen people waiting outside to be seated, so it does get busy. Every time I've been here, the place is nice and clean, and they have a TV with games on at the bar, creating a pretty chill vibe. I typically order a variety of sushi. When I first came, I ordered my usual rainbow roll, blue crab roll and garlic shrimp roll, but then I started letting Chef Tom surprise me with a variety of nigiri, and he hasn't disappointed. The sushi is always fresh and delicious and on weekends, they have halibut, so if you like that, it's only available then. The cut felt sloppy, and there was even a bone present, which made it hard to enjoy at all. More concerning than presentation was the overall freshness -- it had that slightly off, fishy edge that you just don't want when you're ordering salmon, especially if you normally love it. On the brighter side, the Hubba Hubba roll actually delivered. Balanced, flavorful, and easily the best thing we ordered. That said, the experience took a weird turn when the waitress cleared the plate while we were still actively eating from it. It felt rushed and a bit dismissive, especially for a restaurant at this price point. The vegetable gyoza was an easy skip. Dense, difficult to bite through, and oddly bland -- not much else to say there. The Big Daddy Roll and 911 Roll were fine, but nothing stood out. The fish didn't taste especially fresh, the rice felt a little past its prime, and overall everything leaned more "okay sushi night" than anything memorable. At the end of the meal, I just wasn't convinced. Between the inconsistency in freshness, a couple execution issues, and the pacing of service, I'm not sure I'd return -- especially given the price. One good roll in an otherwise uneven experience isn't quite enough to bring me back, but I'd be curious if this was an off night or just the norm. Casual spot with premium pricing.
