This spot is well known for their BBQ chicken and ribs. I come for the wings because they are cooked to order with their homemade honey BBQ sauce. I ordered extra ranch dipping sauce it's also made in house. There is limited seating but the staff is quick getting customers in and out. They were sanitizing the tables between customers. We placed an online order at Ol' Bob's on our return from a road trip. Both my companion and I ordered the chopped pork. On the positive side, we both received a huge serving of pork. However, the BBQ was somewhat dry and really didn't have much flavor. The BBQ slaw was chopped cabbage, with a touch of pimento and a vinegar base. It was a definite "meh" but was just good enough to make me consider taking a side trip to Lexington for the real deal. The fries were warm, but flaccid. The hushpuppies, which could have been very good, were overcooked. Overall, the food rated 2.5 stars. My biggest issue with Ol' Bob's was that online orders were not a priority. I entered the restaurant a couple of minutes before the specified pickup time. I let the cashier know that I was there and she informed the kitchen. The restaurant was busy and at least a dozen other Customers ordered from the counter and received their food while I waited and waited and waited. About 25 minutes after the specified pickup time, an employee informed me that everything in my order was ready, except for one hushpuppy. I had the option of waiting longer for my last hushpuppy or taking a dollar discount and leaving a hushpuppy short. I took the dollar and my 1-hushpuppy-short order. Since online orders don't seem very important to Ol' Bob's, I think the service rates 1.5 stars, but your mileage may vary if you order at the counter. read more

Kitchen is a bit slow but the Que is good. Only the second time I've been here but stopped at lunchtime today and had a very pleasant experience. Walked in an placed my order for the Jumbo BBQ Pork Sandwich with Slaw, French Fries and tea. They gave me a Styrofoam cup for my tea which I promptly filled with Sweat Tea and found a seat at a table and waited for them to call my number. Too a long time to call the number which I could not figure out because the BBQ is already cooked and chopped and how long does it take to make a sandwich. Maybe it took that long to cook the French Fries. In anycase, they called my number and I picked it up at the counter. The Sandwich was excellent. Good moist BBQ with plenty of flavor. Expected the slaw on the side not on the sandwich but that did not matter because it was good anyway. Fries on the other hand had a bit of an off taste. I suspect it's time to change the cooking oil. Place is not fancy. Just a dining area with tables on both sides, a counter where you order and the kitchen behind and what looked to be a drive through on the side. I just got back with my food from Ol Bobs and I gotta say I am very impressed. The pulled pork is delicious! So tender, juicy, and the slaw just perfects it. Only complaints I have is the hush puppies, it did not look burnt but it tasted burnt, perhaps its fried in the same fryer as the wings? Also the top bun got saturated in the vinegar from the slaw but nevertheless the pulled pork was absolutely delicious! Can't wait to return! read more

Not that bad but let me explain. First, I was not in a BBQ mood so I ordered the Mushroom Swiss. It was a very thick patty that was cooked well done. The small bun had been flattened and was pathetic. So it was difficult to eat and overdone. I ended up dousing it in the Golden Carolina sauce and managed to get 80% of it down. It's only getting 4 stars because I think I found the one thing you don't eat there and the sauce was good. They give you four to choose from which is pretty cool. Everyone can choose a sauce. I will try it again one day but for now I'll be eating Mushroom Swiss burgers at Hardee's. read more

Ive eaten at Ol Bobs many times sense they've opened and slowly over the years Ive stopped ordering certain items on there menu. They have become so hit or mis with their food its gotten to where I may never give them another try. Its just to expensive to order food and when you get home find its un eatable. Last 2 times I ordered their Big Ol Burger the outer edge of the burger was burnt and rubbery as if it had been soaking in Aju all day.. I understand that at times you must make food up in advance but it then has a shelf life that must be adhered to.. You Just cant sell a burger for Dinner that was made at Lunch and call that quality food... I truly hope Ol Bobs gets their act together because I love supporting local business but they have to perform to keep receiving my support.. read more

i quit going to ol'bob's about 4 years ago. don't remember why. went there today asked cashier if they hand paddied their burgers or were they prepaddied . he said they hand paddie all there burgers. their menu says cheeze burger 4.89 with lettuce, tomato and onions, yet they charge you .45 for a slice of tomato. i was eating my burger on the way home and noticed it tasted like shoe leather between two pieces of bread. i relized the why i quit going. read more

I live nearby so its convenient. The drive thru is great but don't mistake it for getting food quicker, its made just for convenience without having to get out of your car. Now, I have been dieting for 2 months, working 60 hr weeks and I woke up craving a giant cheeseburger! My sister suggested Ol Bobs, she likes it. Let me tell you...I have never been more disappointed in my life ‍ My burger had been pre cooked and sitting around so long that it was dry, the meat was multiple colors of grey and the cheese had turned a dark orange and was imbedded in the bun.
