It was an insurance claim. The job is still pending. I have had some bummer experiences with people's treatment of me while being really kind. When you think of slimy car dealerships, this dealership fits the bill! Had my engine replaced under the KIA extended warranty and when I came to pick the vehicle up, my windshield was cracked almost from side to side. The excuse was "it came in that way" and when that didn't work, he said it "must have been from the hot and cold" (August weather). Placed calls and left messages and after 2 months of frustration, I went up the ladder and finally got a return call to only hear that damages to my vehicle on company property weren't covered. There were other things like hearing a different answer anytime I called on the progress of the replacement, never an honest response. Take the time to find a different dealership and save yourself the frustration. read more

The service department make excuse after excuse as to why nothing is done. The general manager is too lazy to call back when you leave messages. On Saturday I called Olathe Kia because my car was having trouble starting. I spoke with Julie and she said I could bring it right in. I was there an hour later. I checked in and got my diagnosis in short order. Then it was repaired , washed, and I was out the door. The service could not have been any faster or Thank you Julie and Olathe Kia for a job well done! I'll be back in a year to buy another car and look forward to another great experience. I roll into Kia late afternoon on a Friday . Ryan received me and without hesitation says " no problem we'll take a look". I went to the waiting room and maybe 10 minutes later he had the diagnosis and says " we can fix it right now". Yay! In short order I was back on the road! One of the worst experience I have had at any Kia dealership. (Shawnee Mission Kia is another worst experience) I say any as I travel a little with my car and have experienced a few dealerships around the US for repairs or general maintenance. I made an appointment for a recall on my 2013 Kia Optima. I made the appointment 7 days out. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment. The service guy told me it would take 3 hours for the work. The lower front grille on my car had become a little loose. The tabs that hold it in place just needed to be adjusted. I asked while the car was there if they could do that. He said they would look at it. I waited an hour and a half. When I got a call - even though I was in the waiting room at the dealership - telling me that they didn't have the testing equipment to be able to do the recall. Then I was told they would have to replace the front bumper of my car to be able to tighten the lower front grille and it would be over $1,000. First, if I made the appointment a week earlier, why would you not realize you don't have what you need for the recall? Or when I check in? Or what took an hour and a half to realize you don't have the equipment? And the tabs that hold the lower grille on are there and fine just need to be adjusted - don't need to be replaced and especially the entire front bumper!!! I guess when you have as bad of service as this place, you make up things that need to be fixed or replaced so you can try to make money. read more

Terrible experience here. I test drove 2 cars and decided I was interested in 1. I made an appointment to come back the next day. Went home and crunched the numbers and spoke with my banker and was pre-approved. I was planning to trade in my car and also researched how much it was worth- on this dealerships website as well! When I got there, they got presented me with the finances. The business manager said he would give me $1,000 for my car, a 2013 with 100,000 miles, but has zero mechanical issues and has not been in any accidents. He was disrespectful and treated me like I was stupid for a lack of better words. When I told him I was planning to put $10k down, his demeanor completely changed. I walked out and went to a different dealership that offered me $5200 for my car and was way more professional. read more

My friend went to 3 Kia dealerships and had the same bad experience at all of them. She ended up buying her car at the Olathe Kia dealership and they were dishonest, misleading and I would advise anyone thinking of buying a Kia to think again. As of today, my friend's tags have expired and she is having to threaten to get her title out of them, after the deal they said she had to pay extra to get her key fob, and their staff has been incredibly rude on the phone. My expectation of customer service from any car dealership is not very high, but their treatment of customers is degrading, manipulative and the experience with Olathe Kia is really unbelievable. Recently purchased a Lexus 2007 LS460 from Kia Olathe. I am based out of California and purchased it online. The overall purchase was dealt with utmost trust on the team there considering this is a Kia dealer and would be truthful in providing all the information. After enquiring multiple times on the details of the car, I was told that everything in the car is almost new condition, tires are good, no replacement of any part, and the overall color of the car is original. Nothing needs repairs. They did not even inform at the beginning that there is only one key for the car. I paid the price and shipped the car on my own. On receiving the car in California, I was surprised to find that there was a big noise when I move the gear into reverse and drive. Took the car to the Lexus dealership and got a shocker. They quoted that the control arms needed replacement (I think this is regular for these cars). The Differential needs replacement to take care of the thumping noise. The front shocker is leaking. Even the tires has less than 1/32 thread left and at a stage where its absolute risky to drive it and needed immediate replacement. They would not pass the smog test in California. They quoted a whopping $23K on repair cost (which I understand is high at a Lexus dealership) Called the dealer multiple times and left voicemail but didn't get any response. Finally spoke to someone who said that they cannot do anything. At the end, I am highly disappointed and running around corners to get the car in a decent shape for driving as need to get all the jobs done at a economical cost (not the Lexus dealership quote). This seems to be an experience one would get when you purchase a vehicle from an auction where you can buy cheap cars. This is totally not warranted when one purchases a car from a so called trusted Kia dealership. A caution of advice for anyone who purchases any used car from this place is these guys would just sell you a car without even checking if the tires are worn out and put you at risk. Unfortunately I am so far off that there's not much I can do other than sharing my painful experience with all so they can learn from it. Not sure if the dealership would ever do anything on this. read more

I try to be a big supporter of Olathe businesses. I was interested in the Kia Sorento so decided to come here. I parked close to the Sorentos and walked around for about 10 minutes and not a single sales rep came out to help me. One of the Sorento's doors were unlocked so I hopped in and started looking around. You would think that this would prompt someone to come over and speak to me, but no one did. I was about to leave and finally one poked his head out of the front doors and came over. Let me preface this by saying that they were not busy at this time. So I asked the basic questions, the guy was real nice, I did a test drive and they did not have all of the models available. Turns out they were really limited on their selection. Was not too impressed with the whole experience here so I left. I hate it when customer service is poorly handled. read more

Went in to this dealer to buy a car- we were a sure deal. We test drove a car, knew within 15 minutes that we were sold. This was at 11:30 am. Said "we'll take it", then were sent to financing. Salesman did the "4 squares" on a piece of paper, had us initial it, and we waited. Until 6:00pm...at which time they told us to drive down to the Subaru dealership down the street because they were too backed up. I was pretty agitated at this point but what the heck the light was at the end of the tunnel. So we drove down there- finally within an hour (7:00 pm) were greeted with the paperwork and the price was different, the interest rate was different, were were being sold on the "zillion coat" which they said "well we already put it on there, it's too late". Guess what, the salesman had gone home so I couldn't challenge him on the "4 squares" pricing, interest etc. that we worked up. I said "salesman told us that we were approved for .9% financing" the new "deal" had us at 8%. I said "no way", and without making a phone call...he said "ok, I can go to 5%". Nope, I want the deal that I was sold on, promised, and have been waiting for. I was so tired and disappointed, we walked out. Next day went to Toyota and within 1.5 hours had a brand new 4 Runner and I've never looked back. This dealer lied to us, changed the deal at the 11th hour, and either preys on people to make bad decisions because they are tired or is simply too unorganized to make a legitimate car deal without the salespeople being dishonest. Remember we were a sure deal; my wife was so disappointed that I left but I'm not big on this type of business. Try somewhere else that cares about making the customer happy. read more

Sigh! I managed to total my nice 2007 Toyota Corolla a few weeks ago, so I needed a replacement. I went online and did a lot of comparison shopping and it ended up being a choice between a Kia Forte, a Hyundai Elantra, another Toyota, or the surprisingly impressive new Chevy Sonic. I ended up choosing the new 2012 Kia Forte -- the cars are all pretty similar but in the end the Forte has a bit more oomph on the road, is roomier (good because I have some tall friends), quiet, and has a number of extra luxe touches the others didn't. It also has all the safety features I wanted and I was able to get them to knock off a few hundred for a rear-view backup camera. (The Kia and the Hyundai are made by the same company but the Elantra seems to be more popular now so there were a few extra goodies on the Kia, which tipped the balance in its favor. The Kia styling is a bit boring compared to the Elantra, but that wasn't the big issue for me.) By inquiring online I got a $1000 discount and no haggling, which I hate. They had just the model I wanted in stock. I ended up buying a new car because the prices for low-mileage, recent year used cars were almost as much as the new ones! I worked with Luke Stuart, a nice young guy who was very helpful, well informed and un-pushy. The camera had to be installed but was done very quickly and the car was ready for pickup when I got my check from the insurance company. So all in all I'm a happy camper. I've had the car a couple of weeks now and I'm very pleased with it -- it drives very nicely and has been very economical as far as gas goes. BTW, the car came with a free 3 month subscription to SiriusXM, which is actually quite fabulous! Terrific sound and a very wide choice of music, from current pop to 40's Big Band and classical, plus all kinds of news channels (even the BBC and the CBC) and French music from the CBC in Montreal! There's so much to listen to it's tempting to think about moving into the car! :) Somebody said to wait for the very end of the trial period and Sirius starts sending offers of deals to keep you signed up, so I'll see what happens! But it's going to be very nice to have on some road trips I've got planned for this summer! read more

These people are crooks. I was a first time buyer , a broke college student and was taken advantage off. They were eager to get me into a 2014 for Fusion. I ended up falling for it and the transmission went out not even 3 months later. I understand that Fords are not covered by Kia however I was told that the warranty it had would cover the transmission and when I called the ford they advised me that I would have to come out if pocket $6800 for a new transmission. I went back to Olathe KIa and told them my situation and they acted like they didn't want to help me. The fact that they were that eager to get me into it meant that it had problems before I bought it and were trying to get rid of it. I've learned my lesson and will never be back. I'm very disappointed with this place and would never recommend them to anyone. read more

When I called the next day I hand to give all the same information again and was transferred around the store. I was never able to get my question answered. When I have taken my Kia in for recall parts to be fixed. I have had a terrible time getting the work done in a timely manner and the communication from the team is not good. I would not trust them to fix anything on my car. I would not recommend going here unless you want to be frustrated. read more

They did fix a flat tire I had at the last minute and were professional. However I found it frustrating that I asked for the 30,000 factory recommended package service three times and just got an oil change. I finally gave up asking and just took the oil change and will go back to Shawnee Mission Kia, where I normally go for service. I have moved to Olathe and hoped I would find confidence in this dealer like I have with Shawnee Mission Kia, but it just wasn't there. I'm not saying their service was bad, it wasn't. Just that their knowledge in preventive maintenance didn't seem as strong as others I have been to. read more

Update: 11/28/17 - The service since purchasing my 2016 Optima has been terrible. The service department does the absolute bare minimum and after having my car for one year, I had to get new tires because the car was not aligned correctly. The receptionist is beyond rude... to the point that I HATE calling. As much as I am not a Missouri fan, If I ever buy another Optima, I will go to the Missouri side and I will drive the extra time to have my car serviced to avoid this place. I expected more from a Johnson County dealership. This was without a doubt, the best car buying experience that I have had. Went in to look at the 2016 Optima's and left two hours with a new car. George was amazing... low pressure, respectful of what I was looking for and even programmed my phone to my car before I left! Great experience all around! read more

Update 11/03/2018: Shawnee Mission Kia has been servicing my Sorento ever since my first update and they are wonderful. Unfortunately, they were booked solid for 3 weeks when I needed my oil changed, so I went back to Olathe Kia. My appointment was for 9:30 am. The bays were half empty, but it still took them until after 10 to pull in my vehicle. I didn't leave until 11:30. An oil change took two hours! I hate this place. Buying a car is rarely a pleasant experience, however the sales manager at olathe kia went above and beyond to ensure we will never step foot on the premise again. They wasted 4 hours of our time being slower than molasses just to get our stuff together and show us the expected payment and price we were looking at. I won't get into every detail, but there were some things about the Internet discounts that I apparently misunderstood and the manager made sure that I felt very stupid about it. At the very end when we said we could not commit to the price as it was above our budget and we would like to think on it a bit. We said "we will hang on to this paper to think it over" and he replied with "nah, I'll keep it". Then he proceeded to immediately stand up, crumple up the sheet of paper up and walk off. It was shockingly rude and I have never felt quite so disrespected in my life by someone in that sort of position. No have a nice day, no hand shake and a hope you come back. Just a big f*** you and walked away. I should mention that we promptly went to Shawnee mission kia and bought the exact same car for $1700 cheaper. read more

Wow never take your car here for service. I bought my car from Lawrence Kia because of there bad Yelp reviews. And I should of stayed away from service. Had an appointment for 11:00 am for a oil change and it took two hours and twenty minutes to do a ten minute job. I avoided buying a car there and should of took it to another place for service. Also they do work and charge you for that you never asked for. Twice now they have rotated my tire on there own and charged me $25.00 each time. I have never rotated tires in my life. Amazing Kia lets them sell cars or use there name. Poorly ran business for sure. It's a shame I have to give them 1 star. read more

Do NOT deal with these ppl! I went to this dealership looking for the Optima Ex or LX and wss greeted by a salesman named Tom. When it was time to make a deal on the car I gave him permission to run my credit. I ASKED TWICE how many points does this ding on my credit before you run it? Salesman Tom said "oh , only two points don't worry". After they were not willing to come down on the payments we left the dealership. Guys, I received an alert from Credit Karma and they ran my credit through 12 different LEANDERS!!! YES 12!!! THIS DEALERSHIP RAN MY CREDIT DOWN SINGLE HANDEDLY TO 629 (pissed ). DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR SS unless you intend to buy! Hope this saves some one else's credit and time. read more

If there was ANY way to score with a negative start that is exactly what I would give. This is my second experience with Olathe Kia, the first was not great but is was acceptable. This time, is was absolutely the WORST Customer Service experience I have in a very long time. My daughter who attends College close by broke down and we had the car towed to Olathe Kia. Initially I called to tell them it was on the way there and to give them some background about what was going on. He told me they were booked that day and the following day and hoped to get to it Friday. I said that was going to present some issues as my daughter was going to need a car. He then said I mean if I have a technician that is standing around doing nothing I will see if I can squeeze it in. I said well if you are booked solid you shouldn't have any technicians standing around now should you. I was to be notified when the car arrived. That never happened. After repeatedly messages left for the first 24 hours my daughter (not me) received a call claiming that the battery was the issue. The cost of diagnosing the car to determine that? $185.95? Are you kidding me? Most automotive places will diagnose that for FREE. I understand that they cannot do that, but my local Bob Sight Kia who I prefer to have my vehicle serviced at only charges $39.99 for the same testing? So here is the catch if I buy the battery from them then there is NO diagnosis fee. But if I come and pick the car up and get a battery elsewhere then I owe them $185.95? The fact that I had to call multiple times and went all day without even so much as a return call is unacceptable. The operator or switchboard person became familiar with my voice and finally told me, there is only two of them back there today so that is probably why you haven't heard back. This place is the WORST. Do not take you car here unless you plan on spending a lot of money and you have all the time in the world to wait for a response from staff. read more

I purchased a used 2004 Kia Optima from this dealership. It was a one owner car with only approximately 50,000 miles. When it came time to start using the air conditioning, the air conditioner didn't work. So I had to pay to get a new one. Then before it wasn't even time to get the oil changed the engine went bad. I had purchased the car for my 15 year old daughter but it wasn't drive able. Would never recommend doing business with this dealership. read more

After we purchased the vehicle, they went out of the way to make sure any issues were fixed and the vehicle was thoroughly cleaned and detailed. Financial office worked with the bank to get us the best deal, and then days after we'd left, called us back to let us know they worked even harder to get us a BETTER deal than the great rate we had before. I have bought my car here a couple of years ago, At the time it wasn't a horrible experience, I did walk out there regretting my decision and felt like I was pressured a bit, but whatever that's my problem. But that's not why I'm giving them only 1 star, 0 if I could. I went back 2 years after that and the used car sales man was named Brent. He treated me horribly!! I would never EVER recommend this company. We did all of the paperwork to get me into a new car, we were waiting on financing, I had my 3 children one whom was only 3 months at the time he told me it would take a while to hear back from a bank so he started helping other customers and completely started to ignore us, my Youngest started crying and Brent had taken off with my keys to my current vehicle, so I was left there waiting with my crying 3 month old and my 2 oldest children for over an hour!!!!!! Finally I had them call him over the pa to return my keys, he didn't even apologize, I was so mad. He made me feel horrible, I was upside down in my loan by a grand and just had a 3rd child and I needed something bigger. If he had been honest in the very beginning and told me it probably wasn't going to happen, instead of keeping me waiting and taking off with my car keys " because they needed to appraise my current car" I have never felt so angry. I cried on the way home because how I was treated. TO make it worse they kept sending me Daily emails about coming in and talking to Brent about "getting me into a new vehicle" I wrote back to tell them I would never come back to their company and told them all about my experience, after about a week I finally got a generic apology. If this is how you treat customers I want no part of it. And since then I have told anyone who is looking for a car to stay FAR FAR FAR away from Olathe Kia. I go out of my way to tell people how horrible this place is. read more

I've had 2 great experiences with the service department over the past month. You'd expect me to be irritated with the need for 2 experiences (and at first I was), but both have turned out great! The first was when my car jerked around & the check engine light came on -- they got me in THAT afternoon, and had it fixed by closing! 3 weeks later my car started leaking antifreeze, and I got really frustrated (just turned 90,000 miles, and I thought "here we go - everything is going downhill). Turns out another mechanic I used had overtightened the plug, and that caused the leak. Not Olathe Kia's fault, but they swapped it out for FREE. That leaves one very happy customer!! read more
