Their potato pancakes were dry and tasteless just awful!!! I ordered to go they charged me and forgot my goulash. I paid cash so I just said forget it bc I did call them and they offered to have me come back at their expense but honestly I wasn't impressed. There were ants crawling all over the bar while I was waiting on my food as well. This was a No for me. I've been to Europe and I know this was not quality. Made an online order...said it would be ready at 6:50 PM. Got there at 6:50. Walked to the bar and no one knew what the hell I was talking about when I said I had a take out order. The lady behind the bar had for ask the other waitresses to figure out who took my order. Took about 15 minutes before someone told me it was "almost ready" and to wait at the bar. Didn't get my order till 7:35. "Here's your order" .. with no apology for the almost 45 minute delay. Ordered the pork shank as it was supposed to be tender and "fall off the bone " Hardly. It was so tough and the outer part was dry. I ended up feeding it to my dog and just ate the mashed potatoes and mushrooms which was not great. I'm used to fluffy mashed potatoes and this was dense and needed salt. It was tasteless. My husband had the chicken schnitzel and said it was okay but the sauce was sour and the potatoes were not great. Also ordered the knights snack and it was basically a pretzel, some cheese and sausage. Nothing to write home about. All in all...not happy with service or the food. He was only fiddling around with glasses, heard the waitress tell me to wait, in front of him no less & I didn't say I was in a rush (what are you reading???)... I said I was ignored for 20-min. I said if those are in a rush, this isn't the place to visit. Since I visited on 2-days, I stand by that experience. And, what do you mean say something? On the 2nd day, I waited 20-30 min for my food to arrive from the kitchen, overcooked & dry. You're also highly priced for the quality & quantity of food, in my experience. We had an absolutely phenomenal experience dining experience here. This restaurant is truly German authentic in decor and food & drink selections! We had the greatest most lovely and informative waitress, ever (something like the name Diane, I think). She described every dish we asked about completely and with great enthusiasm. She helped us choose 2 different and excellent alcohol-Free beets, as well as two fabulously delicious desserts. The prices on everything are reasonably moderate, as well. The wait to be seated wasn't long but took about 5 min to get a drink order (water). I did not like the LED wall fixtures in the back room at the high top table. Quite bright and glaring compared to rest of lighting! I ordered the Black Forest Pork Schnitzel with red cabbage and spatzle(?). The Pork was very tender, everything was hot and the red cabbage was outstanding as was everything! Ordered a black coffee and Black Forest cake after the meal! I would definitely come back if I were staying more than overnight! I would recommend it to anyone loving German food! read more

First things first. Those ratings need to be flipped. This is two stars and 4 $$$$. Waitress was great. Ambiance was okay. Table was small. Kitchen was slow (very very very slow). $18 entree was at most 2 ounces of beef with a tiny amount of sauce on the sauerbraten. Dining companion got cold potatoes without gravy and two out of three cold sausages for the same $18. Word of advice, if they do this to you, send it back and tell them to strike it from the bill. Don't let them have a second chance. Management doesn't care. Kitchen will send back the same food only too hot to eat the second time. We just left our left overs and ran for the door two hours later. Had to find something to eat for dinner In response to your response. Well I guess you win that argument. That makes it all better. If you've never had the complaint something is too hot before maybe you should examine that. Pretty simple to put a returned meal in a convection oven for eight minutes and send it right back out. Oh man this place is wonderful. The food is fantastic and service is super friendly. We had a great time. Expect a little wait because other people all want to eat here and they are in a smaller spot. But it was worth it. I grew up in Germany and this brought back some memories. The restaurant is in a shopping plaza, but don't let this little hole in the wall fool you. The moment you walk in it feels like you've been transported to a bier garden. Even through this crisis we sat at the bar and were greeted by guests (of course 3 feet apart) and the staff was ready to serve. The whole restaurant has an old German homey feel to it. I ordered the Cordon Blue chicken with mashed potatoes and Mac&cheese. Everything tastes fresh, homemade and well seasoned. I ordered a vodka & sprite, I was recommended by a guest to try the mermaid vodka "smoother than Tito's". Dare I say it was a smoother vodka. Love German food and finally got out to try this place. Went about 7pm on a Sunday night and were seated immediately. Our waitress came by fairly quickly and took our order for 2 pints of beer. It was delish and ice cold! She also brought us a basket of warm bread with butter...very good. We ordered the potato pancakes with applesauce for an appetizer. These were crispy and very good. Would have been happy just eating a bunch of these for dinner. I ordered the Hungarian Goulash with red cabbage and mashed potatoes. Hubby had the pork schnitzel with spatzle and red cabbage. My dish was good. Beef was a little dry, but tender. Potatoes were good. Cabbage I've had better in other German restaurants (a bit too vinegary, needed a little sweetness). Hubby enjoyed his dish and could not finish it all. Helpings were generous. The service was great, our waitress very attentive. The atmosphere felt German, for those of you who like ethnic restaurants to feel like the country they represent. I however found it a bit costly at $68.00 for 2 with tip. Oh my gosh! I have been wanting to try this place since I moved to Florida a year and a half ago. I pictured a plain strip mall restaurant. I was wrong!!! This place was comfy and full of character! When I walked thru the front door I was greeted by a man playing the acordian. (That's cool) I walked to the bar to ask for a "to go" menu. But the bar area looked so inviting, I sat down to look at the menu. I was offered a sample of beer by the owner. I tried 2 types. Ordered a glass and noticed everyone was ordering the saurkraut balls. So ...I had to order some. OMG!!! If you enjoy sauerkraut, you will LOVE these! (I need to figure out how to make these at home.) The other patrons sitting at the bar were waiting for a table. I really enjoyed all of their company. I would order a meal from the bar because the company is fun to meet at there. I can't wait to try the meals. I also can't wait to bring my German mother in law here. This is a fantastic find! My family and I made reservations on a Tuesday, only because we had seen on the website as a suggestion. They have bogo 36oz beers on Tuesdays and live music. I loved it when I walked in this resturant sitting in a plaza, to find a hidden castle inside. The walls had makeshift stones surrounding you from left to right with a suit of armor as an accent. There was a table waiting for us with our name on it as soon as we came in. As soon as we sat down our waitress greeted us and took our drink orders. I got a wheat beer that had an orange taste to it (couldn't remember or even try to spell the name). It was light in taste but also refreshing. We got a schnitzel with delicious mushroom gravey and and schnitzel bites that came with 3 sauces. Everyone different and worth trying. My second beer (bogo) was a nice and bitter pilsner called Radeberger. I know that one because if you've been around German beers you would have noticed it. Had dinner in 08/31/23. Bartender/owner doesn't know how to make drinks and was quite arrogant when questioned about the small pour and the price of the drink. He also appeared to be preoccupied with the locals at the bar. While the schnitzel was cooked o.k. the potato and spätzle sides were barely warm. Wait staff was courteous and prompt. While we had dined here several times in the past we would be hard pressed to dine here any time soon! read more

Wow! This place has amazing tasting food! If you are not certain what some of the authentic German made dishes are, then the friendly server will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I have tasted several items from this location and everything has tasted great! Prices are average for a sit down restaurant and affordable. The place can get busy quickly during peek eating times. This is a place I will eat at and take others to eat at for a choice different than all the American or Mexican places all over town. We're lucky to have such a skilled cook, making these dishes for us in this area. Some days they also have live music. Don't pass up this strip mall gem! read more

Wow what an experience! This place has such an atmosphere. The wait was incredibly long, me and my son waited nearly 1hr and 45 min just to be seated. When we ere seated we shared a table with another couple... never done that before but I was cool with it after waiting that long lol. I felt bad for them tho because they probably wanted a nice meal together and they had to share one with me and a 4 year old. With the long wait aside it was well worth it, because the food just blows up in your mouth with flavor. We shared the farmers pan and a bowl of potato soup that was a special to die for... I also had a house special dark beer that was decently very good. They had live authentic music that just added to the experience. They are located just off the I-75 in the home depot shopping center next to beaks outlet. As up above I do recommend coming on any other days other then Saturday or Friday nights, and try to make reservations if you can. It gets the 4 stars because mainly I go out to eat to eat and the food was all that. Although lacking the one star was because of the long wait, we could have been sat down much earlier but we were skipped a few times and I didn't say anything. First the good: The atmosphere gives the impression of an authentic German restaurant, the live music was definitely a plus and the beer was great. The not so good: My pork knuckle and my wife's schnitzel served with three different sauces were flavorless and in desperate need of salt. Our food did not settle well on our stomachs, and our server's personality was as bland as our food. The bad: In the time it took us to eat our meal, I observed the bartender down six shots. Each time the customers ordered shots the bartender poured one for himself and he joined the customers as they drank. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you open the door you get sent to a German Kneipe. I ordered the potato pancake chicken, it is under the entree section, the pancakes were flavorful and delicious along with the chicken that topped these pancakes. Other's at my table also enjoyed their food in which they had the medium pretzel, pork schnitzel wedges, and potato pancakes (these are found under the appetizer sections). The pretzel was very soft and had just the right amount of salt on it. The pork schnitzel wedges were very flavorful and we're the perfect combo of crunchy and juicy. Just like the previous pancakes, these were flavorful and delicious. This place will be in our plans for the next time we happen to go through Ruskin, FL. read more
