Met up with a group of friends for a night out. First time here. Food was delicious and service was great! My husband and I had the Schnitzel "jaegar art" and the Schnitzel & dip appetizer. That mushroom gravy on the jaegar art dish...so good! We split 3 desserts at the table... Chocolate German cake, plum cake, and apple strudel. All came warm and served with ice cream and whipped cream. Hard to pick a favorite. Can't go wrong. Wish they had a sampler version for that reason (yum!) The only negatives were is it was hot in the restaurant and there were no refills (canned soda). Not sure if it was where we were sitting or if there was an AC problem? We came here on a Friday night. Almost all tables full. We did find a table and were quickly greeted. The 2 servers did a nice job going between all the tables. Most of the menu is either veal or pork schnitzel. They have a few other choices along with a daily special. Luckily we love schnitzel! I got plain schnitzel served with German potato salad. I also ordered a side of red cabbage. Wife got schnitzel with pepper gravy and bread dumplings. Kids got schnitzel and fries. Schnitzel was fried up perfectly and tender. I got a side is spicy mustard to dip and that was excellent. I really liked their potato salad. It had great depth of flavor. The red cabbage was sweet and savory and hit the spot. I was very happy. The bread dumpling reminded me of stuffing. If you like stuffing you will like those. Kids loved the fries. They had a nice seasoning on them and could tell they had just been fried. Everyone had a great meal. Some things to know ahead. Soda comes in cans so no free refills. If you pay cash you pay menu price, otherwise a little more for card. Fantastic spot for authentic German food! The restaurant is a small, intimate space - not very crowded on a weekday night though I can see it being busier on the weekends. I had the potato leek soup, pretzel appetizer, jaeger schnitzel, and apple strudel all of which were excellent! Everything is served piping hot and freshly made - the schnitzel and spaetzle were particularly good. Fairly large portion size and I still devoured it all! My friends and I went here this Thursday and honestly it left much to be desired. The menu is extremely limited. If you don't like pork, you have slim to almost no options. I ended up just getting the pretzel and mustard sauce but couldn't even finish that because the pretzel was just too salty. The beer menu was basically obsolete, and I ended up just getting whatever the closest wheat beer they had. The beer itself was good, but I just wanted something else to go with it. The waitress was good, she came to our table many times and was patient while we continued to look over the menu and make a decision. We got there right at their opening (4:30PM) so they were not busy. There were a few people who came in during our time there. The owner swung by to check on things. Tried a new meal and a new beer. Awesome selection of German beers. Especially for a small place this is spectacular. The beer was a Salvatore Paulanor Double Bock. Amazing. Paired perfectly with the Schnitzel Frankfort. I had a side of red cabbage to go with the spatzle that came with the meal. Considering this is my first ever review, I have nothing but positive things to say about this restaurant. Starting with the German cuisine in particular, I ordered the cordon bleu which is a French dish with a great German twist. The meat was extremely tender with thick and dense cheese throughout its center. The environment was very relaxing and enjoyable for a family experience. The customer service was also excellent. Our server was friendly and extremely efficient and met all criteria a great server should have. Absolutely delicious homemade German food in a cute setting with wooden chairs and a ton of German decor. Everything from the German rolls to the spatzle to the schnitzel was fantastic and really gives you a great example of German cuisine in FL! You know it's a real Oma and Opa in the kitchen. We couldn't decide if the plum cake or German chocolate cake were better! My fiancé said it was his childhood in every bite. In the Bay Area, they are average in food. But in Brandon, they do have the best German food around that area. They do get a lot of local support especially their lunch special is attractive. We got schnitzel Berlin and schnitzel Jaeger Art. Both are fried pork with sides. The Berlin Schnitzel is come with pepper corn sauce, red cabbage, bread dumplings. But I think the Schnitzel Jaeger Art is better. It is top with creamy mushroom sauce and spaetzle. However, both breaded pork are not crispy on coating. Taste is there, I feel they are in hurry to put pork out and not fried it longer. Coating also can be improved with more tasty spices in it. Overall is good. Popular for lunch. Sadly, won't go back. Unfortunately, we were given a gift certificate this past Christmas for a nice date night out. The gift card was put in an envelope so we didn't even think about looking at the specifics. After a decent meal (Not many other German options available around here), we took the certificate out to pay. It expired THREE months after it was issued (paid for in cash March 2024). The owner with red/fiery hair was extremely rude and abrasive to us. She loudly said "NO, I will not accept this". The meal was decent. A tad bit overpriced but when you only have 3 seated tables at 7:00 PM on a Friday, you have to make up for it somewhere. We could tell the server was incredibly embarrassed by the owner's behavior. Not only that we won't be back, I would never recommended a place with a stingy owner with a horrible attitude. There is enough family owned businesses in the area to support. Sadly, great concept with a great location. Unfortunately, ownership is running this place to the ground. The server was great, but the owner couldn't care less and was money hungry. Based on other reviews (which I looked at before posting this) the owner will have some sort of smart remark back. It will just reconfirm what this review is all about. Take your money elsewhere. OK to be fair first visit here years ago was less than impressive. After moving down to this area years later we have decided to give this place another shot. We started off with a pretzel. It was definitely faked to perfection plenty of salt. We also that two schnitzel meals. One was prepared for me without egg because my food allergy and had a bacon gravy. It is miraculous! The other schnitzel meal was prepared to perfection as well. In addition the other member of my party ordered spatzle and said they were good. So why four stars instead of five? In the time of coronavirus, my fiancé and I have been trying our best to support small businesses. When she told me there was a small German restaurant in Brandon, we definitely had to try it. We placed the order by phone around 4:45pm and was told we could pick it up around 5:15pm. Pretty quick. My fiance ordered the sauerbraten, her favorite meal. We've been lucky enough to have had homecooked sauerbraten in Germany so our standards are pretty high for this dish. I ordered the Jager schnitzel with spatzle on the side. We also ordered a pretzel with mustard. We arrived a little after 5:15pm and our meal was just being packaged up. The restaurant is located in a plaza off just east of Kings Avenue in Brandon. There are a few other restaurants and small businesses around. The plaza looked mostly closed except for the Taste of Berlin. We got our food and headed out. My fiance warned me ahead of time that while similar, German food from the north is different that what I am used to, which is Bavarian style. Our meals were both hot and fresh when we got them home. We started with the pretzel, which was a lot smaller than we thought it would be for $4. It was nicely salted but a little on the crunchy side. It was ok but the mustard that came with it was amazing. I need more of that mustard. My jager schnitzel was big, very tasty, thin pork, fried with a thin breading. The mushroom sauce came on the side and it was really good. Lots of mushrooms and a lot of sauce. The spatzle on the side was also fresh and soft. It was pan fried like it should be, with the noodles a little crispy and brown. The sauerbraten my fiance got was pretty good as well. The dark brown sauce and tender beef was plentiful and tasty. We both agreed that our meals were good and we would definitely want to go back when this place opens up for the full sit down experience! We drove over an hour to try this place...and it was totally worth it! This is a smaller restaurant and it wasn't too busy for a Saturday night which I was happy about. Between my boyfriend and I, we had the goulash soup, potato soup, rolls, jagerschnitzel with Spätzle, bread dumplings, sauerkraut and German coffee. Had to update my review and give them that extra star because this place provides such delicious and authentic German food! This is a very small but clean, cute and well decorated establishment showcasingl ots of German decor which I enjoy.They open at 4:30pm; we arrived a few minutes after 5 yesterday (on a Friday) and were the first patrons there but they were filled up fast by 6. Food: Pork Shank Special- I got this which was $26 now but well worth it because it is huge and absolutely delicious. I have gotten this many times and it is always so tender you can just pull the bone right out (HIGHLY RECOMMEND). Bread dumplings- one of 2 sides that came with the pork shank but I paid $1 extra to substitute Spaetzele which was fantastic. Sauerkraut- 2nd side that came with the pork shank and all I can say is WOW, definitely the best sauerkraut I have ever had and I could eat a bowl of this alone as a meal with nothing else. They also have the best red cabbage I have ever eaten in my life but I definitely enjoy the spaetzele and their sauerkraut the best! Still so surprised they charge $1 to trade sides since all the sides cost the same amount of money on the menu at $4 each but I will still do it and pay the extra to get what I want. Boyfriend got the Bratwurst which comes with 2 sausages, mashed potatoes with their delicious pork gravy and saurkraut. I tasted his bratwurst and again BOMB and definitely the best bratwurst I have ever tasted, will get this for myself next visit. Only downside is they allow no trading of sides at all on the sausage plates even if you pay the extra dollar which again I don't understand since the sides are all the same price on the menu and I would much rather have Spaetzele with the gravy than mashed potatoes. We did not get the Schnitzel appetizer this time but we have before and it is amazing with great dip sauces and the extra touch of the delicious fried parsley it comes with makes it extra special. I have been to every German Restaurant in the whole area and even went to Sarasoda and Sun City and none of these places even compete with Touch of Berlin. We have been going to Touch of Berlin for 13 years and the food is amazing, I order Cordon Blue with Pork gravy, and it is to die for, and the French Fries are wonderful. My husband gets Broth Wurst, and he just loves it. I have been stationed in Germany, so I had the food over there and this is as good as what I had over there. I won't go to any other German Restaurant anymore because I will never find another place as good as Touch of Berlin in Brandon, FL. The owners and waitress staff are like family to us. All I can say is Yum! All were served on a bed of greens. Entrees, my sister Thad the duck special with orange sauce accompanied by pickled red cabbage ($28) so tasty. The orange sauce did not overwhelm the task of the duck. The duck was fresh, not gamey. My sisters friend and I ordered the Jaeger Art ($17) served with schnitzel. Very good! Not dry. Not over breaded, perfect! We topped off our dinner with German chocolate cake ($6) a la mode (add $2) and pastry with plum ($6.50) a la mode (add $2). Been to this restaurant several times in the past, and its a good local German spot to keep returning to. We were seated immediately and told the soup and special of the day. The appetizer and food came out pretty quickly after ordering and our waitress was attentive throughout our meal. We had the pretzel appetizer which was so so delicious, even though a little smaller than I anticipated. The sweet German mustard dipping sauce was unique and perfect. The menu is basically pork schnitzel 20 or so ways, and we were happy with our entrees. I decided to try the special which was chicken schnitzel with green pepper and sauce. I would say this was good yet the sauce leaned more toward average. My husband had the pork schnitzel with caper cream sauce, and I did like his better. The breading of the schnitzel was tasty on both entrees, well seasoned, not too crusty nor dried out so we were very happy with that. The homemade side on the dish, potato Spaetzle, was good too! What I really liked was also the personal touch of (who I assumed is) the chef coming out visiting each table to inquire of the meal. You don't see that personal pride around much anymore especially in smaller busy restaurants. So the answer to the magic question is... yes!
