I was craving some BBQ so we stopped in here on a Saturday night. Small place right on the main highway, but friendly staff and they made us feel incredibly welcome. Food was VERY good and the cornbread was absolutely delicious! Also recommend the sweet potato waffle fries. I ordered the 3 meat sampler and of the 3 (pulled chicken, pulled pork, brisket) the pork was probably the best. My only other call out (and interpret this however you want) is that the restaurant was completely out of ribs when we arrived (about 8pm). While some people see this as a negative and lack of preparedness, I'd like to think of it as a positive that shows they truly care about quality and put care into their meats (like only a certain amount per day)... Searched for something different to eat while in Williamsburg and this place came up. After a couple of hours of shopping at the outlet and having to drive for another 3 hours wasn't sure if this restaurant was going to be out the way but it is a short distance from the outlets and with the extra drive. I initially ordered 2 meats individually but then it was recommended to order the 2-meat platter which included 2 sides; ordered brisket and pork belly. The pork belly reminded me of being in the country ordering thick cut bacon. The brisket was chopped instead of sliced (wished they had given me the option) but nevertheless it was good. Also ordered 12-wings. They seemed a little over cooked not sure if it is due to frying and then grill but the sauce (sweet & spicy) made them edible. I will add a little water to them to reheat and wrap in foil; that should soften them up some more. The old fashioned coleslaw was to die for, which I had ordered a large. The cornbread as my second side dish was good after putting the honey butter on it. Nice BBQ spot. read more

We stopped in on our way home. I was craving BBQ and we have had their food truck before, but wanted to see the full menu! I was starving, as usual and I do love BBQ so we started with the pickles app and drinks. I decided to try the 4 meat platter while my husband got the taco sampler. I really enjoyed the platter. I decided to go with ribs, pulled pork, pork butt and brisket. It was all delicious. I personally like my brisket a little more smokey and charred, but it was so tender. All the flavors and BBQ was wonderful, I added both BBQ sauces on the table and was a hog in heaven! Kevin had the taco sampler and his favorite was the pork butt taco. He upgraded and had his fries topped with Queso, I will definitely do that next time. It was delicious! The pickles cut through the fat and all went together wonderfully!! Came on labor day weekend, wasn't too packed and the place was clean. After we did all our day tripping my party of 5 (3 adults, 1 teen, 1 kid) were ready for some lunch. We ordered from an array of items off the menu but since my party decided to chow down before I could even take photos I don't exactly remember their orders. As far as their food went the fries with the garlic Queso was amazing, would do again. The pork belly appetizer was the best pork belly I've ever had! I ordered the pick 3 tacos and thank goodness I chose the pork belly taco because they were chefs kiss. I will say their corn bread with honey butter was just ok. Very dry/crumbly and the butter didn't taste like honey butter. We'll just have to try a different side next time we're in town. Our waiter, Juan, was nice and our food came out in a timely manner but we had to ask for our drinks to be refilled and waited longer than we'd like but I blame it on us being in a corner that's not visible easily. They were were supposed to be smoked and flash fried but they lacked taste. Collard greens were bitter. Cole slaw was missing salt or sugar or something. Came in after reading some of the reviews. Definitely was NOT a disappointment! Food was delicious. I had 2 smoked meats (Brisket & St Louis Ribs) my sides were poblano mac n cheese and cornbread. Ribs were tender and fell off of the bone. Flavor was perfect! I'm not a huge mac n cheese fan but it was good enough that I finished it all. The cornbread was heavenly. The brisket was slightly dry but the sticky patches sauce gave it the flavor needed for me to finish it up and still enjoy it. My husband said the flavor was good on the brisket but agreed it was a little dry. Sides were a good serving size. We came back the next day to try something different. I had the taco sampler (pulled chicken, chopped prime brisket & green chili brisket) I enjoyed the pulled chicken taco the best. All 3 were flavorful. My husband had the pulled pork and absolutely loved it! The service both days was fantastic, Cameron & Juan were polite and super attentive. Right sooo...took a drive to Williamsburg from Virginia Beach specifically to come here. Sat down and the waiter said "We have the best barbecue in Virginia." Whoa buddy. Whoa. That's a big claim to be making. I was skeptical. BEST barbecue? Yeah right. Says who? I ordered the three meats to put this claim to the test. I ordered the pulled chicken, prime brisket, and pork belly. My thought process being this - usually when a place does brisket REALLY well, the chicken falls short and is dry and texturally gross. Plus pork belly is fatty and if not done right can be like pork jerky. I ordered collards because again, they can be tough to get right. I don't want bitter collards, I want flavorful, yummy collards. And beans, because they seem to be a good precursor of whether or not the barbecue will be good. My husband got one of their seasonal specials, the prime brisket dip, because he likes to say "au jus" 180 times like we are eating at some Michelin star restaurant and we have to speak French. It drives me crazy. He ordered the sweet potato fries as his side. My 12 year old ordered the Organic Fried Chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce and blue cheese. She ordered regular fries as her side because she is 12. My youngest ordered the kids chicken fingers. I didn't take a picture because I assume you know what chicken fingers look like. She had fries as her side because this is about as adventurous as she gets. Alright. My husbands meal first. I heard a "oh my god, these are amazing" as he consumed his first sweet potato waffle fry and then, "Are these laced with crack?!" I just sat in horror, "Umm...are you okay?" The waffle fries are apparently insane. Then he took a bite of his sandwich and I put on some 'ear muffs' and prayed he wouldn't say "au jus". Apparently this dip sandwich is the best he had ever had. And the au jus was amazing (there, I said it, happy now?). My 12 year old said her chicken sandwich was "really really good" and in 12 year old speak that either means that it was really, really good or it was an answer to get her parents to stop asking, "how is it?" I'm going to go with the former and continue to believe I am not the annoying parent that I actually am. Now, my test. The prime brisket was...oh my lord - amazing. So I figured the chicken would be dry, but...it wasn't, it was delicious. The pork belly? Spot on. The collards? SOOO good. They were perfection. The beans? I couldn't stop eating them. I ate them until I couldn't breathe. The sauces are basic, but good. They have 3 and I can't remember them all off the top of my head, but the tomato based sauce was my favorite. My youngest really liked the vinegar (she put it on her fries). I'm going to give it to them, this is the best barbecue I have eaten thus far in Virginia. We were all looking forward to this place as we are a family of bbq lovers. The fact that they have tacos on the menu as well only heightened the excitement. After eating here, I'd say that it is definitely tasty although nothing really blew me out of the water. I got the pork belly banh mi as I thought it was a really interesting concept. It definitely tasted good. I added vinegar sauce to it and really liked how that worked. My biggest issue was that it was not a particularly large sandwich especially given that it was on the pricy side of average. Their fries were good as well. My son said they were the best fries he's ever had. I would not go near that far, but they were good nonetheless. My other son got the ribs and they were probably the best food I tried here. Nice and smoky. My wife had chicken tacos. Not a particularly exciting choice, but I wasn't eating it so what do I know. Anyway, the food is 4 star and the service was very good. My big issue here is that it is expensive for what you get. When you are charging premium prices at a BBQ joint you better be serving huge portions or jaw dropping meat or both. Preferably both. Stopped in on a Friday night while visiting family in Williamsburg after hiking Shenandoah. This was my first swing at Virginia BBQ. Overall impression was good with no serious issues. Food- Meats had a mild smoke flavor, but were a little weak. Brisket was tender with a little bark, pulled pork was flavorful and moist, and ribs had good flavor but were oversmoked until they were falling apart and kind of mushy. Sides were solid, but just average. I really liked the Mac n cheese as it was rich and creamy, but the beans were just ok and a bit sweet with some undercooked bits. The key lime was good and tart, not too sweet. A little more body to it would be good. Service was pretty average, a little slow at times, but polite. Pricing was competitive with most places I have been around the country. If I lived in the area I would give this another shot and see if the experience was any different. read more
