Came here on a Sunday afternoon around 4:30pm. Was greeted immediately upon entering and seated at a high top table near the bar (by choice) so we could watch the Football games. They have 4-5 flat screen TVs around the bar (no audio) but at least you're able to watch each play. They have a drink menu and I ordered one of there specialty cocktail my boyfriend Victor went with an Old Fashion. The bartender Juan was our server and did an awesome job mixing our drinks and tending to our table. For starters we ordered the Fried green tomatoes, I must say these are very different from the fried green tomatoes we're used to however they were very tasty- served with bacon and roasted red onion jam and pimento cheese. My boyfriend went with "The Big Hal" w/ a side of garlic Mac cheese and I ordered the smoked brisket and pork chili served w/ cornbread and honey butter for entrées. We also decided to try their smoke and fried wings. Everything was delicious. I have not ate a good Mac and cheese from a restaurant in a really long time and todays side orders of poblano Mac n cheese and garlic Mac and cheese did not disappoint. They had super friendly staff, well kept dining area, I would definitely return back again. They seem to do a lot with pork belly as you find it mentioned on their menu multiple times in different dishes. We ordered carry out from old city and was not impressed at all. When I opened the brisket I was given 1 piece that was inedible. It was a piece of fat and not meat. The corn bread was burnt and fell apart when it was touched and my wife ordered Mac and cheese and it came in a container the size of a Dixie cup. The fries we ordered were completely soggy with grease. I would not recommend this to anybody, especially for the price we paid for this. The brisket was the poorest quality meat I had ever eaten, 80% fat. I literally thru away 3/4 of the brisket because it was ALL fat. The 1/4 that was left was mixed fat and meat and had a good smokey flavor, but man was I pissed..$18.00 for this brisket..really? On to the sides. the beans were tasty however the mac n cheese was a big dried up ball of yuck. Might have been the last portion from that batch. My wife's meal was a little better. The organic chicken was tasty, but very dried up. Even with sauce, couldn't save it. AT 14.50 another one bites the dust. The fries were soggy(which I understand carryout on fries is not an easy thing to pull off) She like her greens. It seems as though our first and only try at this place was not good timing maybe? So with all meat terrible I had hope for sides: Collards tasted grainy like they had sand or some grainy substance in them, Beans were under cooked white beans with kraft bbg sauce. This place is amazing! They really smoke their meats and it shows! The brisket was moist and had so much flavor. My husband had the wings and they were large, smoky and flavorful. This place can easily be a five star restaurant. We went tonight with my two daughters. The meal did not get off to a good start as it took close to 15-20 minutes to get waters and probably double to get our beers. Now for the good. The wings were awesome. We got them naked with buffalo sauce on the side with ranch. The buffalo is really really good, like I want a spoon to eat it good.
