I ordered the fettuccine Bolognese and it was rich, hearty, and full of flavor--perfectly cooked pasta with a delicious meat sauce. My husband had the mushroom veal, which was tender and beautifully prepared in a savory mushroom sauce. Both dishes were excellent. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic with soft lighting and classic Italian music, and the service was warm and attentive. House salad and fresh bread were a nice touch to start. Escargot to start and share a Caesar. The Chicken dish again and i had the home made Italian Spicy Sausage over Penne in a Red Sauce. And both of us are Sans Alcohol due to meds. We recently had dinner at Strawberry Lodge in Strawberry, Arizona, and it was truly one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we've had in a long time. We started with the bone marrow and ravioli appetizer, and both were absolutely incredible. The bone marrow was rich, buttery, and melted in your mouth, while the ravioli was packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. For our entrées, my husband ordered the spaghetti with calamari, and I had the pasta with white sauce and shrimp. Both dishes were outstanding--fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The only reason I'm giving this two stars is because it's beautiful inside and the service was nice. We had a 7:45 PM table on Saturday evening. There were three of us. Two of us had pasta. One of us had chicken with lemon sauce. The two pasta for calamari, spaghetti, and Bolognese sauce with fettuccine. We had bone marrow to start. The bone marrow was teaming with parsley and raw onion. After scraping it off, it was delicious if very little for the price. That was one of the better things we had. The chicken with lemon sauce was soggy, and it was supposed to be breaded and crispy. The pasta noodles that came with it had Parmesan on them and oil but not much else. The price did not reflect what we got. The Bolognese sauce was good, but the fettuccine noodles were so soft too soft And the calamari spaghetti was probably something that should've been sent back because it was extremely fishy. I've never had fishy calamari. My son's hazelnut cream cake was OK and my cannoli was OK even if the ricotta tasted like cream cheese and it's a very small cannoli for nine dollars. My son's strawberry lemonade was good. The espresso martinis, whip cream, and without cream for both overly sweet, but reasonably priced. I had a taste of the only Kiante they sold by the glass, and it was not something I would ever drink it lacked any type of structure or body to the wine. All in all the $270 bill was not reflected in the food that we received. We really wanted to like this place but we're not sure that we'll be back. I would rather go to Duzas or Fargos. read more

I don't give five star ratings. I start with 2.5 and add or subtract based on the experience. "Reservation Required" threw me off at first. However, after getting there I could understand why. Warmly greeted to a cozy dining experience with a cool ambiance. +.5. My chair felt a bit wobbly. -.5. We were taking selfie photos together but couldn't quite get the angle we wanted. A staff member very respectfully let us know that they were willing to take one for us. +.5. Since we had never been there before, our server went through the menu and let us know what the specials were. I still can't say the name of what I got the way she did. "Chicken pizza" is the best I can do. +5. Bread with dipping oil came out. The oil was lightly flavored background to a very tasty seasoning. Both were amazing! +.5. My wife ordered the lobster ravioli special and I ordered the "chicken pizza". Chicken pizza as I call it is a chicken breast tenderized and thinned out, cooked and then smothered in a red sauce with plenty of cheese melted on top. Oh so good! +.5 The dish comes with some pasta but server gladly noted to swap that out for some additional vegetables. Admittedly when my food came out, the swap had not been made. No hesitation, the server picked up the plate to take it back to the kitchen. As they went into the kitchen another server was bringing out the corrected plate. Mistakes happen. It is what you do with it that makes the difference. +.5. The vegetables were a blend of zucchini with some bell peppers. They were cooked to perfection in my opinion, tender with just a touch of crunch left in them. Simply but nicely seasoned. +.5. My wife's ravioli and sauce were flavorful. The lobster taste came through. Nicely done! +.5. For desert we had the chocolate hazelnut cake. While this style/flavor isn't my favorite, we got it for my wife who loved it. It was good even if not my style. And the presentation with cocoa powder sprinkled over the plate made the presentation very appealing. +.5. Our servers were attentive during our meal and kept our waters filled. +.5. At the end of our meal, a to go box was quickly arranged for and our server took some time to just chat with us. Very pleasant and friendly. Small town relaxed vibe if it's ok for me to say it that way. +.5. Adding all that up would make a 7.5 star rating. I am limited to five stars. This is such a gorgeous hidden gem. I would never think to go there if I was just driving by but it was such a nice surprise. Everything tasted so fresh and full of layered thoughtful flavors. I ordered the Pollo Gorgonzola and I will be dreaming about that meal for a while. It was such a different taste that awoke my taste buds and was so enjoyable and satisfying to eat. My mom got the Pollo Limone and it had such an amazing white wine and lemon flavor. Both of our chicken meals were extremely tender and they come with a small salad. I wasn't sure what to expect in such a small rural area, but it came highly recommended & the cozy atmosphere, great food, friendly service was all AMAZING. It definitely surprised us! We had some house salads & bread to start. The dipping oil for the bread, as well as the dressing, was so nicely flavored. Mushroom Ravioli was so delicious, probably the best Ravioli I ever had. So when you see this place from the outside you would never imagine what you are about to experience on your taste buds. It actually looks like a place in old school NY inside. The bone marrow was amazing as well as the ossobuco. The staff were very attentive and the drinks were amazing too. If you know, really know Italian food, you will be delighted with this place. This was a cute little place in Pine! You have to make reservations, I'd say a week in advance. The place is small so I can see it fill up quickly. The atmosphere is great, with old 50's music and Fran Sinatra. It was dark with candle lights. It was really cute! I got the tortellini. The cream sauce was incredible. So rich, but in a good way! My husband got the chicken Alfredo and said it was really good! The portions were good sized, we brought home leftovers. They had a variety of desserts but we were so full! We came up from the Valley and found this AMAZING Italian restaurant. The exterior is non-discript with no major signage. You might miss it if you are diving by too quickly. Reservations are suggested. However they will make accommodations if there are cancelations. Upon entering you see a full length bar and the dinning area is nestled in the back. The ambience is romantic with white linen table cloths, servers are dressed in all black and fresh flowers and table side lighting round out the quaint interior. Food was amazing. We stared with the escargot appetizer w toasted bread. It was buttery and flavorful. The entrees come with a small side salad and spaghetti. I had the veal Marsala with mushrooms, with zucchini and bell peppers. The hubby had the veal piccata with capers. The wait staff was prompt and friendly. Very accommodating if you have dietary restrictions. We were too stuffed to have dessert. But I'm sure they would have been divine. It has been awhile since my wife and I have been on a date night. I used that as an excuse for taking the 15 minute drive to Strawberry to try this restaurant we had heard so much about. It turns out the Strawberry Lodge is as good as we have heard. The restaurant is tucked inside a larger, two story building on the corner. Don't expect to see a huge neon sign announcing it's presence. In fact, you pretty much need to know where it is before you get here. We walked into a dimly lit, nicely furnished bar area and checked in with the hostess. I'm going to take a wild guess and say this is a family run establishment - and you will be treated like family. After we had a handcrafted cocktail at the bar, our hostess escorted us to our table. The dimly lit room was quite busy with patrons giving us an indication of what we had to look forward to. The decor is Italian eclectic and relies on the natural rustic construction to lend a certain authenticity to the room. Once seated, I took a few minutes to order a bottle of wine from their small but well thought out wine list. We started with a nice bruschetta. It came out in a timely fashion and was well presented. It was as good as any I've had in the valley. The bread was well toasted and the balsamic drizzle was homemade for sure. In unhurried fashion, we also were served a nicely dressed house salad of fresh romaine. Julie had ordered the veal piccata and it looked delicious. I don't normally eat veal but I might try this sometime. Julie said the veal was tender without being overworked and the lemon sauce with capers was the best she had had anywhere. I tried the Fettuccine Bolognese and was not disappointed. The pasta could very well have been crafted on premises and the traditional sauce was creamy with a velvet texture and enough meat to be satisfying without overwhelming the dish. We finished the evening with dessert, of course. I had the Tiramisu and Julie had the Limoncello Cake. Julie said the cake was moist and refreshing. I would say the same about the Tiramisu. I do have a couple of suggestions that I hope the owners will take into consideration. One, while I can appreciate the limited choice menu, it would be nice to have just a few more items to choose from. Sausage and Peppers and an Osso Bucco would be great additions to the menu. I know nothing about regional Italian cuisine so I could be blowing smoke here, lol. A second has to do with the bar. It could use a nicer (and mor extensive) back bar that goes with the rest of the room. And, I'm not so sure they have anyone who could be called a craft bartender. While my pre-dinner martini was adequately prepared, I have to wonder if she could have managed other traditional cocktails like a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned. Also, I ordered a glass of Taylor Fladgate Port with my dessert and was presented with an unnamed Cabernet...I was still relishing the rest of the dinner so I didn't bother to say anything. All in all, a great dinner with wonderful ambience and a great staff. The chef, by the way, took the time to come out and check on us and thank us for dining with them. My wife and I live in Payson. She is a foodie and great cook. I will enjoy simple but good meals including leftovers. We treat ourselves to Strawberry Lodge a couple times per year and have Never been anything but amazed with the simple but high end quality meals. I had the Italian sausage special with pasta in a light olive oil sauce that blew me away! My wife had a terrific pasta special as well. We were silent the first 10'minutes. "How on earth can this chef assemble these amazing authentic meals up here? True love of hospitality and cuisine. Family members celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary at the restaurant just after Christmas. Myself and another family member attempted to arrange and pay by phone for the couple to receive two nice glasses of wine delivered to their table. Collectively we spent 55 minutes on the phone attempting to arrange this. It was a very special anniversary for them as one member of the couple had just gone through pretty serious brain surgery and is a walking miracle. The host who answered the phone during several attempts to arrange the delivery kept telling us the server was too busy to help us. There could have been a good tip involved but "they were too busy to serve". Don't believe I will ever eat there. read more

Food is authentic and handmade! great portion sizes, fabulous flavors and so cute inside. we then came for New Year's eve with friends. Oh my gosh! 2 choices, 5 course meal plus champagne for $100 each. Prime rib was literally 2 inches thick and cooked to perfection.Lobster Ravioli with lobster tail was the most lovely thing ever! I came with my husband for our anniversary and dinner at this restaurant was the cherry on top of our trip to strawberry. The ambience was romantic and sweet; I loved the music since it wasn't a restaurant that played too loud for me to hear myself talk. The chef was stellar. We got to talk to him and he was such a pleasure. Kylie served us and she was the sweetest towards us. I can't even begin to rave about the food. For the appetizer, we got their special which was mussels in a white wine sauce. We couldn't get enough of the sauce; we kept dipping our bread into the leftover sauce. My husband got a lamb special, and it was seriously the best lamb we'd ever had. I got the veal with artichoke and mushroom, and there is not one negative thing to say. This was our first visit to the Italian eatery. So let me say I am just giving an honest review of the restaurant: They have done a nice job in fixing it up and are still working on the lodge rooms. The menu is one single page. 4 to 5 appetizers (no calamari), The Entrée dishes (no Eggplant Parma, or Lasagna or Spaghetti Carbonara). All our dinners were very good. Deserts were very good. So yes it is very good, but it's a bit of a sticker shock on the prices of the meals. But you pay for quality. read more

I had the veal and it was one of the best meals I have had in a very very long time. The staff was very friendly and on top of their game.
