My sister and I stopped in for lunch a few days after Christmas. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The service was excellent. The lady who waited on us was very friendly and she kept our glasses filled. We both ordered the Edgefield BLT which consisted of bacon, lettuce, fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese and their bacon remoulade on toasted wheat bread. So, so good!!! Celebrated my brother's birthday here last Saturday and everything was excellent. They were very busy but the owners stayed on top of everything. We had the dumplings and bang bang shrimp for appetizers both were very good. I had steak with potatoes and corn on the cob and all of it was very good. My wife had salmon and she loved it. My brother had steak as well and his wife had fettuccine. For desert we had the caramel cake and it was fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend this place for that special night. read more

I was referred to this restaurant by the hotel clerk. He was spot on!!! I arrived just before closing and was seated without hesitation. The atmosphere was perfect quiet soft music so if you wanted a conversation at your table you could reasonably carry one on. Out came warm fresh bread with a plate of olive oil with salts and seasoning to dip the bread into. I ordered one of the specials tonight. It's a tenderloin with shrimp scallops vegetables searched over rice. It was fabulous!! So full of flavor my mouth waters now as I think of it. I rarely take food photos but I did tonight to share with my wife. If ever I find myself anywhere near here I will make a point to stop. Delicious Organic Tomato Soup and Shrimp Po Boy Sandwich. The Couple that took care of our table were very hospitable.

I'm really kind of bummed about our experience here. It may be my fault, I don't think I ordered well. I had the BBQ sandwich, and quite honestly it was bad. It was over sauced and the sauce wasn't good. It came with fries and the fries were subpar. My husband however was happier with his food. He had the potato soup and half a chicken salad sandwich. We did have the fried pimento cheese appetizer which we both enjoyed. The old house that the restaurant is in is really beautiful- I just love historic homes! We would absolutely go back for dinner, and maybe lunch- I'll just have to do a better job choosing my entree. read more

Wife and I had lunch Sunday. We go on a regular basis. Excellent food and service really tip top. Food was a little slower than usual but for their first Sunday it was to be expected. After touring the Carolina Moon Distillery this gem of a restaurant just a few steps away just off the courthouse square in Edgefield SC The fried green tomato's were made fresh and came with home made pimento cheese and roumalade sauce. They split our order of shrimp and grits into two portions and each was more than enough for one. I have never had better. I live in Aiken about 30 miles away but have occasionally come to Edgefield for antique shops or passing through on my way to Greenwood. For 20 years we have always eaten at the Billiard Parlor for awesome burgers and fries. My wife was looking for something different to share with out of town guests. We picked the Grille and were thrilled. We ordered Chicken Salad Salad, pulled pork sandwich, and shrimp and grits. The Old Edgefield Grill is the perfect restaurant for this quaint, historic town. The staff were friendly and attentive. There were a good selection of appetizers and salads. We shared the Fried Green Tomatoes that were prepared perfectly. My Shrimp and Grits wer excellent and my husband enjoyed his crab cakes meal. That was more than enough food. The food was just as good as I imagined it to be! I had high hopes after reading reviews and I was not disappointed. Servers were prompt and kept the tea flowing. They were a bit busy so it took some time for food to come out but it was definitely worth the wait. We started off with the pimento bites and they were so delicious with the remoulade. I had the BLT and my boyfriend had the Edgefield burger and we both had the sweet potato fries. HOLY YUM! The fries were delicious and homemade. Crispy and sweet and so yummy! The BLT was super delicious but I was disappointed by the lack of bacon on it. There was only two strips. For 11$ I expected there to be more bacon. I will definitely go back! read more

The chef personally came out to speak to us and thank us for our visit. The owner was amazing, courteous always catering to us. Great hospitality, amazing food, not one complain.... Highly recommend this restaurant to all that visit Edgefield, SC. I recommend the popcorn crawfish, calamari's and smoke salmon dip for appetizer. Had lunch here the other Saturday with my child bride. We arrived kind of late - like in the last hour of the dinner service. First impressions of the place were that it was a nice building. Burgers were sold out :( I had a glass of pinot noir and my bride had an unsweetened tea. We both went for the soup of the day (apple carrot) to start with. Followed by a BLT sandwich for me and a pimento cheese one for my wife. We then shared a Derby pie and ice cream. Service was a little lacking to start with - had to ask for my wife's soup to come out when it wasn't served with mine at the same time. if they were going to bring just one - I would have thought it would have been the lady's first. Soup and sandwiches were pretty ordinary to be honest. My wife said there was hardly any Pimento cheese on the bread. "BUT" the Derby pie was excellent and I mean excellent !. When I mentioned it to the waiter he said that their chef had trained as a dessert chef and it was noticeable to be honest. One of the best desserts I have had here in the USA. Would I come back - yes I would. For one I would like to try them in the evening as I feel this place has potential to wow even though I wasn't this lunch time (dessert aside). The fried green tomatoes were delicious crispy coating and soft and moist creamy pimento cheese filling. My wife had the fried shrimp platter with fries and coleslaw. We were shoved off into a side room by ourselves, i Asked the hostess if they could turn the music down just a wee bit.... was told the manager likes loud music! The tune on was some head banging song about killing myself, hardly dining ambiance. we ordered, food was delivered, mediocre at best, no one came to check on us, and someone came into the room and decided to separate all the silverware for later that day. l thought they would fire up the vacuum cleaner next. Was so excited to try this place. Apparently closing time is anytime they feel as despite it says 2 they don't really always mean it. So tries again, crab cakes with no crabs just a ball of bread, skimpy po boys, good fried green tomatoes and burger that was huge yet raw in the middles. Took +20 min for the apps and when the waitress was asked about the delay received a snotty and argumentative reply. Never need to step foot in the establishment. We had a fabulous dinner here last weekend. My spouse had short ribs - one of his favorites and I had shrimp and grits- one of their best dishes! It's a creole style which I will make myself from now on. I also had their fried green tomatoes for an appetizer- perfect! We will definitely put this restaurant at the top of our 'go to' spots. Only criticism is that it was a little noisy with 5 tables filled on a Saturday night, but we can go on a quieter night. read more
