We were there a bit late in the morning (before 11 am if you want the breakfast menu as I recall) and my wife was ready for lunch so she asked for chicken noodle soup and they took the effort to get it ready a bit early for her. We were seated quickly, greeted warmly by Cameron who was very attentive and explained all the wonderful information about the restaurant- how everything is made from scratch and they have fresh pressed orange juice. The menu was 5 pages and full of descriptions, options and everything you'd want to know about what to order. I chose the ham and cheddar omelette with a cream cheese cinnamon roll. I wish I would've taken a picture of the food! I was very hungry and the omelette was so fluffy and the perfect portion size. The cinnamon roll was picture perfect, and so delicious. Staff was so nice and helpful with figuring out what to order. We tried most of their popular culture items. They were delicious. I also ordered the chicken fried steak which was decent for the type of restaurant. My husband ordered the veggie omelette which he probably wouldn't order next time. Given the great reviews this place had, we were excited for the food. It was the morning after my cousin's wedding and all 10 of us were famished. There was a wait- about 45 minutes which was fine given our party size and that the place was packed. Unfortunately everything we ordered- except for the blueberry pancakes was nearly inedible. We sent the hashbrowns back to be cooked a bit more, they were not crispy at all. Anything made with their flour was thick, doughy and tasteless. Even the bacon was somehow tasteless. Two stars because when we told the server, we were given some vouchers for our next visit. Unfortunately we don't live in the area, so we won't be able to use them. It would have been nicer to have a discount on the food, given that 9/10 meals were not finished. read more

I really enjoyed this breakfast restaurant! Food was very different compared to others. It was also very tasty and fair priced. I didn't get to try the cider but I would like to the next time I'm in town. It definitely gets busy! The orange juice seemed freshly squeezed and was actually good. To start, we were greeted by a delightful server at 6:45am. We were seated and offered French press coffee and or fresh squeezed orange juice. My husband got both. Incredibly delish. The food followed suite. Wonderful options, delish flavors and friendly service made our breakfast wonderful. She even took our plates and boxes the leftovers for us with extra jelly and sauces. Wow, what a surprise. We we're heading to the airport in Spokane and looked up the Dueling Iron diner, well lucky us it was closed and we stopped here. This place has great service and the food did not disappoint, our waitress was super friendly and brought some amazing extras. I ordered the Veggie Browns with feta cheese and 2 eggs over easy, my wife had the spinach, bacon avocado salad and our boys had free pancakes. All the food is homemade from scratch, our waitress brought us a mix of ​Danish Aebelskivers which were absolutely delicious and some sourdough French toast. This is such a cute place. My boyfriend and I stopped for brunch. We were greeted and waited about 5 mins for a table. They were busy so completely understandable. Severs came and got our drink orders. She recommended trying their salted caramel coffee we got that and a Diet Pepsi. Came super fast. Ordered our food. He got the goulash and I got the Scandinavian sweet platter. Waited a little bit but it all made sense once we got the food. Enough to feed a small army. Their rye bread was so fantastic. Made in house and served with raspberry jam. I could have had just that and been happy. The Ebelskeviers stuffed with sausage were super fluffy and flavorful. The strawberry crepe was the hands down winner. We both loved it. Super light and airy with a crepe center topped with strawberry and whipped cream. The pancake was good. Not phenomenal. The German pancake with apple sauce was great. The goulash was fresh and flavorful especially with the prei prei sauce. They also brought out blue berry ebelskeviers (sorry if spelled wrong) that were awesome. And gave a 5 dollar gift card since it was our first time. I would totally return. It was awesome. Oh my goodness! This morning we had breakfast at the "Old European Restaurant" in Post Falls. What an experience! Yes, the food is wonderful, but even better is the service and the atmosphere of this place! They kept bringing us samples, a plate of their in-house made sourdough toast, and a lovely crepe. The menu is a delight in itself, with family stories (don't miss the one about the grandparents and their coffee!), traditional prayers, and hints on healthy comfort food. They make everything right there, from fresh squeezed orange juice to batters to jams. The staff is, without exception, charming and very interested in your experience. We even had a lovely discussion with the manager, who used to do roller derby! I can't recommend this place highly enough. It is food for the spirit as well as the stomach! Ahhh! read more

Things are starting to slide a bit at the Old European. Prices are going up, of course, because of inflation, however that doesn't mean that I want to start paying $0.75 for a thimbleful of peri peri sauce. They have also started serving their French press coffee in a metal container, which means you can't see whether the coffee is ready, and on top of that they also use *scorching* hot water, which means you're going to burn your mouth on this less-than-acceptable coffee. All in all this results in a very average experience. The breakfasts are still fabulous. The coffee is no longer fabulous. And the service we had with our most recent outing was... meh. read more

They have fresh baked bread you can enjoy there or take a loaf with you on the way home. They always have a coffee special in season, they are worth a try!! The owner will come greet you as a first timer and offer you a discount which is super generous. Amazing experience! Cameron has wonderful customer service. Not only was his service excellent but his knowledge of the area was extremely helpful. We're visiting for eight days and this has been by far one of our favorite places to have breakfast. Thank you Cameron for recommending that delicious Orange juice. We loved the coffee drink that you told us about, it was so good. Our favorite was the stuffed pancake balls (OMG) that you told us about. We can't remember the exact name but it was so good. The staff was prompt, friendly, and accurate. Food was good, fast, still hot when received. Dining area and bathrooms were clean. I would eat there again. Only negative... I would not recommend buying a loaf of their Sourdough. I stopped making Sourdough for myself last year so was excited to see it for sale. I wasn't expecting homemade level bread. This is probably one of the best breakfast place Ive been too. Holy crap, I'm still thinking about it as I'm writing this review. I ordered the traditional goulash which came with a side of abelskiever, and we also got an order of a potato pancake. First off, the portion was humongous, we were super full after and couldn't really eat much for the rest of the day. The goulash was like a scrambled filled with potatoes, meat and veggies and topped with cheese. The waitress told us to order some of the sausage gravy to go with the goulash and it was amazing. The gravy was thick and flavorufl and I can just eat that on its own. The potato pancake was also super yummy, it reminded me of hash browns but crispier on the outside and soft on the inside. The abelskiever was stuffed with meat and cheese and was so light but filled with so much flavors that it was amazing. Both the pancake and abelskiever came with applesauce to dip and although they were good, I thought it was better with the gravy. Our server was awesome, she gave us a free sample of the blueberry abelskiever to try so we can see the difference between sweet and savory. At the end of our bill, she also gave us a $5 gift card for the next time. Overall, excellent breakfast place that I will always remember read more
