The beer selection and interior design were more impressive than the food. Both beers we ordered were poured well and had good citrus and hoppy notes. No complaints there. Besides the staple menu, there was a rotating menu featuring a soup, mussel dish, flatbread, burger, and pasta. The food took some time to come out, and everything was rather bland across the board. The interior was decorated nicely for the holidays though. *Hummus Platter: a huge shareable for $10. The crispy naan resembled the Costco version but fried. The naan itself worked well as a base for the hummus, although the hummus was neither smooth nor flavorful. There was no fragrance from the chickpeas, and it tasted rather unseasoned. The selection of peppers, carrots, and cucumbers was decent. *Garlic Butter Mussels: their monthly mussel dish. The mussels were cooked well and coated in a one dimensional sauce. The sweet wine was cooked down with lots of garlic, while the butter was subtle. I wished there had been a bit more toasted baguette to balance the one pound of seafood. Note there is a 3% credit card surcharge. I could not find this listed on their menu and but I saw the charge on my receipt. I enjoyed the few beers I had, and the food was acceptable for a bar. With some improvement to the flavors, this could be a worthwhile visit for a bite and a drink. read more

I have stopped by old forge brewing for its happy hours. The restaurant and brewery looks very nice. Servers are pleasant to talk with. The beers all have some kind of aftertaste and are week in taste. There are many beer options but I don't like the flavors and don't want to go back. Because of this I have not tried the food. I cannot imagine paying 7 to 7.50 for these beers. I would rather have a Yuengling on draft for happy hour. read more

Came here for lunch while on a business trip. I had the burger with fries. The burger was delicious the brioche bun was very good soft and fluffy. The fries were crispy on the outside but still fluffy on the inside. They were dry service was good not many people in the restaurant for lunch. It was a Tavern type of decor. My only issue was the beer cheese. It tasted too much like beer. The beer flavor was definitely over powering. The other special sauce wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. A typical thousand island type of sauce. But over all it was pretty solid. I would comeback and try something else. read more

I thought that the atmosphere of this restaurant was actually pretty good. They had a nice set up in all the staff was very kind. I didn't think that the beers were actually very good. They had great taste and they had a large selection and there was a large variety, so definitely come back for the for the beers because I had a large variety. However, I felt like the food just wasn't on car with what I had expected the food specifically what I got, which was a fish tacos, just lacked flavor and a sense of spice. I felt like it was very bland and it needed more kicked to it. My friends also got the chicken burgers, and even those were very sweet and lacked sense of spice or extra flavor which was a bit disappointing. We stopped here for dinner on a Saturday evening while in town. The place is cozy and it was bustling with live music when we arrived. Our server was Jordan and she was excellent! She guided us with recommendations on what to order. I had the strawberry arugula salad with chicken and it was excellent! My partner had the chicken wings in two flavors and he said they were meaty and delicious. Glass of cab franc was also good and reasonably priced. Not ideal. They have pretty limited gluten free options. The items on their menu could easily be made gluten free, but oh well. It is unfortunate when the venue makes such little effort for a medical food restriction. They have extremely limited options for people who are wheelchair-bound. Not for me, but a friend of mine wanted to go to dinner on trivia night and staff were unwilling to reserve a table for me. There's only one wheelchair-accessible table on the first floor! How rude. I liked going to this place in the past but you'd be better off going elsewhere if you want staff who are more friendly and more gluten free options. My family in I stopped by OFBC after a hospital visit in the area. The ambiance is very lively , there was literally live music happening when we arrived and the open concept leaves the space feeling very welcoming. The service was okay at best, unfortunately our server wasn't extremely attentive, for example there were four of us and a app was ordered and we weren't given small plates and had to constantly ask for water refills. I must add it wasn't extremely busy in there if it were plenty of grace would have been given. Anyways, the stir fry and cauliflower were our favorite a must order. Suggestion for the main salmon dish, I think a mash instead of a wedge would not only elevate the dish but complement the salmon very well. All in all would suggest to anyone in the area. read more

Stopped in here for a quick bite to eat after a full morning of errands. Was greeted with a smile and the waitress was super attentive in all the right ways. Got us our drinks to start and made sure we had just the right time to review the menu. It wasn't very busy when we got there but the place filled up fast. The food was on point. The sweet potatoe fries were delicious and had a nice crispy to them with out getting to crunchy. The fried pickle chips were filled coated and had a wonderful amount of seasoning. Even though the restaurant has high ceilings and is very open it felt very warm and welcoming. It was easy to relax here. I highly recommend this place when you just need to sit down and relax a bit, even on short notice. read more

Beers are decent. Food was good, we had the spinach dip with naan. The service sitting at the bar was abysmal. The bartender was far too worried about telling her life woes to a few other unlucky patrons. That might be fine, had she not also been huddled with servers in the corner bitching about life. Why was this an issue? Because I had to interrupt for every damn drink, even after staring at her for two minutes each. And when I did say, "pardon us when you have a moment", she snapped and said she would be with me when she could. Given the other bad delivery and lack of service, I timed it on my watch and it took over four minutes. (4:18 for those wondering) Not because they were busy, but because she was telling a server how much her bills were. Shrimp tacos were delicious! (Except I ordered the tuna tacos). For real, the shrimp tacos with flour tortillas were tasty and full of flavor. It just wasn't what I ordered, even after a discussion with the bartender about which one she preferred. Didn't realize the error until I got home because I got it for takeout. Similarly, the wings we ordered were super dry. I'm chalking those 2 food faux pas up to it being a long day for the chef. Also, I came in about an hour before closing. The beer, however, is absolutely delicious!! The bartender was very agreeable to me sampling several of their brews. I had two American IPAs while I was there and took home a four packs of Fall Enigma and a Pumpkin Ale. I would definitely go back (just earlier in the day)!! read more

Enjoyed some good beer and delicious food. I ordered the Oktoberfest beer and fish tacos. Loved both. The fish was fresh tasting and seasoned well. Others in my group liked the blackened shrimp fettuccine. They said it was seasoned just right. Not overly spicy. My son ordered the patty melt. Both he and I would recommend the dollar up charge for the fries. The chips that come with the handhelds are very crispy,which I like, but very seasoned which both of us didn't enjoy. We were passing through town and w the help of Yelp found this gem of a brewery. We stopped for lunch had several appetizers along with a few main items from the menu, everything was amazing. They had an extensive draft list which had something for everybody. It appeared they were short staffed but the employees didn't miss a beat. I was in visiting a relative who was at Geisinger hospital, and was looking for somewhere to grab a bite. Found Old Forge which was only a few minutes drive from the hospital. The inside had a gastropub feel and was nice and very welcoming. I sat at the bar but there was plenty of seating in both the front and back rooms. Service was very quick and the staff were very knowledgeable about the food and the beers. They get all of their beef directly from a local farm. They have a very good selection on tap. And had two cask conditioned options on tap. The beer was very good. I tried both cask conditioned options with dinner and was very happy with both. Because they are known for their beef I got the burger with house made chips. It was amazing. I only regret not bringing an additional stomach so I could have tried the cheese steak also. Very family friendly, while I sat at the bar I did notice a few families eating in the dinning room. Overall I was very pleased with everything. Welcoming atmosphere, great service, wonderful food. I was so impressed I picked up a mixed case to go. I would highly recommend Old Forge and I would not hesitate to go back if I am close the area again. read more

Stopped in here while traveling for work. I got 2 summer ipa's which were pretty good. The "butcher block" of the day was an 8oz filet for 32$. Overall the food was good but my filet was overcooked. I ordered medium rare and the temperature appeared medium well. Still a decent meal and service was okay at the bar. You will not have overly friendly bartenders but they do get the job done. I'd probably stop in again while in the area. It's Danville so not too many choices around. read more
