Nothing to add here. I come from time to time with a group of 6-8 on Sunday morning. Although the place can be busy, we haven't had trouble getting a table. Service is friendly and efficient. Care taken to refill coffee and make sure everyone is taken care of. Prices reasonable and decent coffee. Still open but I am hearing it will be closing at some point. Too bad. Four of us stopped in for lunch. I had the Greek salad, the man had the souvlaki chicken pita platter, and the others had an eggs breakfast and the gyro platter. There was agreement that the french fries were great. The two pita wraps were okay. The tzatziki sauce was said to be rather tasteless. The Greek salad was fine and would be better with some spinach. Overall, an average meal. Arrive was attentive without being bothersome. The restaurant will be closing at some point as the building (and some surrounding property) is part of an upcoming redevelopment project, but there's currently no specific date. read more

No star rating due place is closing. Reason I won't be recommending this place is the owner will be shutting down this winter. The real estate management aren't renewing any leases. They are remodeling the whole building into another "condo". Just what the town needs. Sarcasm implied. 2 Stars - The breakfasts we had were not memorable anyway. Basic flapjacks, potato hash, sausage and eggs. The eggs were the Only thing to redeem the entree. Perfectly cooked. The toast was use to get the running warm yolk into our mouths. The coffee was slightly better than your hotel room coffee. Now with that said, if you need something filling and you are hungry, this is the place for you. There were only two people working there and our server was pleasant and professional. Hard working people who will have to get another job somewhere else. The restaurant business is "cut-throat" and if you are able to make a least 6% profit, then you are doing a lot better than most eateries. Came here for some late breakfast with a friend. The service is fast. The food is typical diner food- we had hashbrowns, French toast, sunny side up eggs, scrambled eggs, white toast, and coffee. The berry compote for my French toast was more like canned pie filling so I didn't love that and the hashbrowns weren't crispy, but overall- a good stop if you don't wanna make your own breakfast! read more

This is my favorite breakfast place in Bethesda. So many blocks in that area have changed beyond recognition, but this place on the corner has been a constant for years. There is metered parking on the street around the corner, plus a county garage directly across St. Elmo. It looks to me like the ownership may have changed, but the great quality has not. They have many options on their all day menu. We had breakfast today: I chose a spinach and feta omelet, which was perfect. Grits are an option instead of potatoes, and grits always make me happy. Another visit with my parents on a Saturday morning. We got seated upon arrival at a table near the window as it was pretty packed at around 10:20 AM. Got some coffee, Orange Juice, Water along with our breakfast entrees. I got a Ham and Cheese Omelette and it tasted great! Service is always excellent by a Korean family who runs the restaurant. Clean and comfortable, standard fare with some flair. If you come to Old Bethesda (the square of downtown ethnic restaurants and pubs just south of NIH) the Old Georgetown Grill is a great place for a working breakfast or lunch. Table will fit food and a pad and the menu has all the basic American fare - burgers, roast beef, turkey crab cakes and seafood and some interesting things like bulgogi. The service was just so... gosh darn mediocre. It was strong to start off with. She came over, got our drinks orders in quick. But then when we asked for a minute to look over the menu, we got 15 minutes. Finally able to flag the cashier who she was talking too. He informed her that we were waiting. Which was good and all, so she came over apologized. I guess, honest mistake. We were one of four tables in the place though. So... come on. We got our food quickly after that. Then we wait wait wait to get our check. I actually had to make eyes with the cashier again who she was talking too. Then after we get our check. It's another 10 minutes before she picks up the credit card off our table. Uggghhhh. It's just plain annoying. That being said. I get a bagel ( it was a generic plain Thomas' bagel)... which I'm fine with. I like those soft bagels. The home fries were cooked well. Tasty and not over-cooked. And my chicken noodle soup, though a little bit salty, was delicious... and was actually chicken and rice soup. My friend had a french toast special that came with 2 eggs anyway, sausage, AND bacon. She said that it was good. Her poached eggs were a LITTLE underdone. But overall the meal was good. Hoping service issues were a sort of one time thing. Without a doubt, the worst bagel & locks in the history of culinary mistakes. The Asian family that is staffing (and now owns?) this landmark food establishment has shown an indifference in preparing a Jewish essential that is equivalent to cooking Vietnamese Pho in motor oil. To obtain a coffee refill, one should text the waitress, as her attention is consumed by her iPhone. Upon entering, my friend wondered why the place was empty. Well, now we know. I've driven by this place a million times when I would go to work at the Fraser Gallery in the years that I was the co-owner... and a few million more times since. And recently we stopped by Studio Neptune, in the gorgeous building right across the street from Old G'town Grille, and it was mid day on the weekend, so my wife and Little Junes decided to stop by for brunch. The place was packed! And they sounded and looked like locals! The usual Bethesda crowd, speaking loads of languages - our table neighbors were Brazilians on one side and Yiddish was coming across from the other side. The waitress looked and acted like she'd been waitressing for a 100 years and she was GREAT! That lady knew when the coffee was getting ready for a topper and when she needed to swing by and check things.... nothing like a good, experienced waitress. The food was amazing! I had a Greek omelette that was huge in size and HUGE in flavor from the range eggs. But often one can tell a great place from the atmosphere and air around it, and not just from the food, and this jewel stands out in my mind and one that I will return to a lot! read more

Old Georgetown Grille is a cute little diner at the corner of the busy intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Arlington Road. They serve amazing brunch fare, including waffles, pancakes, french toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, etc. We both opted to go with non-breakfast foods and ordered burgers. I also ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup and a side of onion rings. So yum! The burgers also came with potato chips. My only complaint is that the service that day was really slow. It took about 20 minutes for someone to come by to take our order, our food took a long time coming out, and it was really hard to flag our waitress to get our check. It took about 30 minutes more than it needed to, overall. But the food was great and this place is so homey and adorable. I would definitely love to visit again! read more

It was fine. The food was good but nothing special. Perfect for if you want regular diner breakfast food. I would place it exactly in the middle of the spectrum of breakfast places. Eggs Benedict is as gourmet as it gets on this menu, although there are a number of international foods represented, including some Greek and Korean flavors- I think there was a gyro meat omelet?? I didn't try it but it sounds intriguing. I got the French toast breakfast special #3. Very reasonably priced at about $9, and it included 2 slices of French toast (brioche bread, not challah, which was a nice surprise), 2 eggs, 2 sausages, AND 2 pieces of bacon! Most places you have to limit yourself to one meat, which is basically un-American. Everything was good. The egg whites in my poached eggs were undercooked, but I made it out unharmed. They need to work on their service- the waitress was very inattentive despite the fact that there were only 3 other tables in use. It took half an hour for us to order, and getting the bill paid was a whole other ordeal. PS: Interesting people watching- there were some real characters in this place! read more

What happened to this place? I should've known when I walked in at 7 am & I was the only customer. Food was bland. Cooked wrong. Ordered the gyro omelet, add spinach and *crispy super well done* home fries. I emphasized the CRISPY WELL DONE ALMOST BURNED part cuz that's how I like them. Home fries were mushy. I asked them to cook the home fries CRISPY a 2nd time. 10 mins later they brought back the same mushy home fries. Ugh - never mind. I didn't eat them. I initially first thought they completely forgot about the "gyro" part of the omelet. I only saw them when I went digging through the glop to FIND them. Omelet was bland. Too much oil. A little greasy even. Couldn't make a dent in the thing. I think I counted 8 tiny slivers of gyro in the omelet. TOTAL. Like 1/4 the size of my fingernail, per sliver. The "Where's the beef?" commercial came to mind. (Where's the lamb?). Toast was okay. Never got a coffee refill. Waiter never checked on me. Not once. If you're going to enjoy a meal here, adjust your expectations. The food is fine, nothing special. If the quality of your meal is the number-one priority, definitely consider eating at one of the many, many other places you can find on Yelp nearby with better/more interesting food. So why did I give it four stars? I meet friends here monthly for Sunday breakfast. We can always get a table without a wait. We can sit there and chat and not feel like they're rushing us out the door. It's relatively quiet, so we can hear each other. The tables aren't squished together as they are in so many places. The large windows make the place bright and airy. The food reminds me of Hot Shoppes -- that kind of place where the food's always the same and never going to change. I get the scrambled eggs or the omelet. I absolutely understand that this is not "fashionable" dining, and I'm okay with that in exchange for a dining experience almost *impossible* to find in Bethesda - space between tables, no wait, decent lighting, quick service, nearby parking, bottomless coffee, decent prices, and no ear-splitting background noise. read more

Like a cute diner, but a touch nicer than a diner. I felt like I was back home or grabbing a tasty breakfast in colonial Williamsburg. It's basic service and good food with limited fan fare so don't expect expert plating or servers going out of their way to accommodate you. It's a grill. My heart belongs to Tastee Diner up the road, but one can still get a cheap, tasty breakfast at the Old Georgetown Grille. My florentine omelette was filled with an acceptable amount of spinach and feta and was accompanied by crisp homefries and dry toast. Our table was a bit sticky which was kind of off putting but our service was pleasant and there wasn't a long wait for our food. Their hours confuse me as almost every time I walk by, they're closed - so I guess they're really just like a deli in that they open early in the morning but close by 3 or 4 pm. Which is fine, but maybe they could post that in the hours slot on the door. Easy to see why locals love it and I'd totally return if I didn't want to go to Tastee Diner which I can access any time of day or night. read more

This is a great little diner I've been going for a while now. The food is good and the portions are on the larger side. Generally, you don't have to wait too long for the food to come out. What sets this place apart from the others, are the people of this fine establishment. The waitress/ waiters are courteous and as some had said before in another review, they seem to have been doing this since before I was born. The atmosphere here is great...kinda like as if I'm on Main St in some small town somewhere down south. Do not come here if you are expecting some reinvention of the classic american diner food. I just ate here for the first time after living in Bethesda for the last 13 years. It was a pleasant surprise -- more than passable diner food with a better menu and cleaner than it's major competition, Tastee Diner. You can get a half decent salad at OGG, unlike Tastee. But the turkey on the hot sandwich wasn't fresh baked, like at Tastee. The pancakes, eggs, and sausage were all done well and quickly. The Italian sub was a big hit with a 9 year old, but it looked like something you'd get wrapped in plastic at the 7-11. More like a 2.5 than a 3. Tastee is still my sentimental favorite, but OGG holds its own. read more

Many years ago, I had breakfast at Old Georgetown Grille. I couldn't remember why I did come back. Last weekend, I took the family there after hair cuts, and suddenly remembered. Tucked away on the corner of Old Georgetown Road and St. Elmo Street, the restaurant looks like a traditional corner restaurant--a step up from a diner but nothing fancy. Back in Pennsylvania, we would call it a 'family restaurant'. The menu is again, nothing special. For breakfast there are be basic bacon, eggs, and pancake breakfasts. The rest of the menu consists of burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, and house specialities. What we had wasn't very good. My wife tried the lox and cream cheese. It was average. We got my 18-month old pancakes. They tasted like the were a prepared mix. (They actually were. From our chair we could see a case of the mix sitting on a shelf opposite the entrances to the restrooms.) I had chili dog. The hotdog part was fine, but the chili was not good at all. The worst part of the meal was the neither my wife nor I felt well afterwards. When we are at a restaurant and it doesn't sit well with either of us, something is wrong. Worse than the was the service. Everyone there, especially the guy at the register, who seemed to be the owner, acted as if we were very lucky to be there and that they were doing a favor by letting us eat in their establishment. For the type of restaurant they are in the area they are in, there is no excuse for an attitude like that. I won't say you shouldn't go here, but it really isn't my favorite place.
