I love coming here on a Saturday or Sunday for brunch. I have been here several times and I have never left disappointed. It reminds me of local diners on Long Island. They have a pretty extensive menu that includes breakfast all day. Prices are good, especially in Bethesda. Good place for families(I see a ton in there whenever I go) and good for any other sort of people. My favorite is the feta omelette with home fries. mmmm. My only hang-up is it isn't open for dinner. read more

Another place I have to visit everytime I come back to Bethesda. The environment is a little classier than Tastee Diner up the road, the service, prices, and food are loads better. They have limited hours, but don't miss out on their awesome sandwiches and even better breakfast items. Try the Greek omelet with gyro meat and feta or the Italian omelet with peppers. These massive omelets are served with toast and breakfast potatoes, and they are the best deal for quality and quantity in town. I can't wait for my next visit! read more

If you can, sit at the "bar" and order from the owner, Joe. This place is as best as they come in terms of that Cheers/everyone knows your name feeling. This is a great neighborhood place that does breakfast really well. I just love watching the cooking on that griddle. The BF and I come here regularly and we always sit at the bar (because I like to watch the griddle). BF always gets the veggie omelette with extra home fries. And he always eats it all. The home fries are good. The omelette is light and fluffy and cooked to perfection. I tend toward the pancakes which are just the best pancakes I've had. Recently, I tried their french toast - Oh my goodness, it was so tasty that I think I found a new favorite here. The staff here are so friendly. They always have smiles on their faces. We've even seen them serve some of the meanest customers with nothing but grace and courtesy. They serve lunch type food here too, but I'll be honest and tell you I've never had it. Came here for a relatively early breakfast (10am on a Sunday), and there was no wait at all. However, our party of four was almost sitting on top of this older woman, but we dealt. The waffle looked like a typical waffle that one could make at home with a waffle maker, but the omelettes were well made (green pepppers, onions and swiss, and ham and cheddar), and the home fries were good without being overly greasy, which is a plus. The French Toast looked tasty with blueberries on top. The service was "eh," but it wasn't terribly dest For the area, this was a great price. My wife and I are breakfast-foodies. I've had Feta and Spinach omelette at many breakfast spots from diners to fancy restaurants and the Old Georgetown Grille knows how to make our favorite omelette correctly. With the chopped spinach in the egg, it neither overwhelms the omelette or fills it with a log of spinach. Unlike most breakfast places, they don't skimp on the feta. If you don't like finding a big roll of soggy spinach stuffed into your omelette, this is your place. Home fries are good, with green pepper and onions, light and not greasy. The toast. Toast from other places doesn't even compare to the toast here. Its light, crispy and not at all soggy. The service we have experienced has always been pleasant and prompt. My wife would drive all the way to Bethesda just to eat breakfast here. That's a long drive from North Carolina (I suspect she meat DC). She's been going here for more than twenty years, since she was a child. Breakfast for two here is one of the best $20 you can spend. read more

On a rainy, drizzly, chilly Sunday morning we were there for an early breakfast.The wife ordered the Italian Omelette and very much enjoyed it with her home fries and hot tea. I needed something to "stick to my ribs" ...so what did I order you ask? Their seriously delicious Home-Style Cream-Chipped Beef on Rye Toast with Home Fries, Coffee and small OJ. This is a solid diner as most reviews note. It's cheap by LA, SB, and NYC diner standards. The coffee is meh. The service is good and it's a quaint little place with curtains. The clientele is brainy. In two hours (I was stuck in Bethesda waiting for a meeting at 1:45), I heard such sophisticated discussions. One was about real estate and the other about the Diocese. Three friends, the youngest of whom was 55 and a former teacher at GW now involved in health care I think (it seems that she's always the one who has to help deal with powers of attorney for sick friends), prayed before they ate. This was twice in three meals while in DC that people said grace. I come from WLA, heavily Jewish and secular, so you don't see people thanking God before they eat. I think the older woman was this lady's mother and then another woman, black, from church. They were talking almost exclusively about priests they knew all over DC and other cities, so they may have some peripheral function in the Catholic Church. They had traveled all over, at least the younger woman who had been to Singapore, Vietnam and other far-flung places. My omelet was a B+. The potatoes were blah. But if you like bacon and sausage at breakfast, which I don't, both looked quite good. read more

The worst. Opened the door and was greeted by a foul smell - sewer gas? Ordered a coffee and the server tossed me the basket of creamer pods from another table. Poured one into my cup and noticed it was a congealed glob. I let my son have a few sips of his watery instant hot chocolate before deciding we needed to go. The damage: $5.30 Never, ever again. Nice for a cozy, casual Sunday breakfast. Nothing awesome though. I ordered the pancakes because they looked really fluffy and pretty but they ended up being dry and flavorless (even after I doused them in all of the little butter cup and almost half of the maple syrup squirter). Sausages were good, I dunked them in maple syrup (but then again when isn't that tasty?!). Bacon was soggy. This would be a fine place to go if you want to chill out in a cozy diner, but the food doesn't wow. read more

Solid Bethesda Diner - good service, cheap prices. The food is what you expect for a diner. Nothing award winning, and don't expect any points for presentation. That said, this greek/korean/breakfast place is as convenient as it gets. It's rare to find a dish above $15, and your dollar will go a long way. The Belgian waffle is pretty good as are the $5 breakfast sandwiches. If you order a coffee, the waiters make sure it stays filled. The breakfast combos give you way too much food, but sometimes that's just what you need. read more

Another of my favorites in Bethesda. It's like homecooked diner food. I was addicted to their Chicken Rice soup. Food is cheap and filling - I could get a huge bowl of the soup for $3 and I swear it's homemade. It's so hard to find a good chicken soup that doesn't taste like it came out of a can or a bag. They have excellent home fries. My favorite entree was the chorizo which came with homefries and toast and some other sides - it was lots of food. The Old Georgetown Grille (or OGG as we have come to know it) is the perfect diner. My family and I have been going every Sunday morning for countless years now and the staff there are ready with our drink orders soon after we sit down. They are incredibly friendly and the food always comes out quickly. Everything there is delicious, if sometimes covered in butter. The portions tend to be a little big, but it's worth it and not expensive. Dirty tables and horrible service. I walked in and a man standing at the bar grunted before advising I could sit anywhere. There were only two guest dining. No one ever waited on my table; however a person who sat down after me was greeted. Since my table was dirty, they troll behind the bar was unwelcoming and the server treated me like I was invisible; I left and went elsewhere. Don't waste your time at this place. read more

I came here with my dad yesterday, he worked in this area a while back and made this his favorite lunch/breakfast stop. He noticed that the owner and employees have changed, but not much else. It's very homey and comfortable, the service is great. I get a real sense that it's a family business. The food is not 5 stars but what do you expect in a corner diner? Very down-to-earth and modest. I recently discovered eggs benedict at this restaurant, and now it is my go to meal. I order it with bacon extra crispy instead of ham, and it is absolutely amazing! Unimpressed. I'm sure this is satisfactory for the post-church crowd, but as for anything different, interesting, or enjoyable, I'd direct you elsewhere. The service is slow and inattentive, from the time someone actually came around to our table, to bringing coffee, to our meals. Slow slow slow, and I'm not a demanding person. The food was very average, certainly something we all could make in our own kitchens. Not expensive, nor should the food be, considering its mediocrity. The portions are appreciable, however. Grew up eating here weekly before moving to California. I still try to make it back for brunch whenever I am in town. It has a good local feel and the servers have always been nice at least when I am there. My wife and I used to go to Old Georgetowne Grille all the time for breakfast. The lines used to be out the door on Sundays, but I easily got a table. While the service is good, I've noticed a decline in the quality of the food over the past few years. I think the change in ownership has taken its toll and the OGG is not as good as it used to be. I love the Old Georgetown Grille. Be prepared to wait for a table on a Saturday or Sunday morning. If you can make it there on a weekday, particularly later morning, you'll be in for a treat. The breakfasts never disappoint and it's great that you can get egg beaters as a substitute for regular eggs. The grits are a passable substitute for the real ones you can get in the south. The breakfast potatoes are nothing to write home about, but the coffee will perk you up even after the latest night imaginable. Really, a 2.5. Met a friend here for breakfast and was super happy to see that they had scrapple on the menu. Scrapple is probably the black sheep of breakfast meats, but undoubtedly the tastiest! I ordered 2 eggs soft scrambled with scrapple and toast. Nothing fancy. Eggs were ok, but bland. They gave me a puny little piece of scrapple, but it was crispy and tasty. I really wanted a refill of my coffee but the waiter disappeared and didn't come back until we were ready to go. I love diners but this one just didn't really do it for me. Going out to eat is an experience and this place I would agree to experience under one of the following circumstances: *At the end of a night of dancing and fun when most other options are closed *If I happen to be driving through a truck stop *If I was starving (borderline death starving) and had no alternative If you temper your expectations, then you will enjoy this place. The food, yeah, it was OK - not horrible, but I was not happy to be there to whole time. I guess these are things you have to accept living in the Bethesda area - there are places with "Charm" and very few newer places around. If you give this place more than 2 stars, then you probably just do not care about the look of a place you are eating in. read more
