I've seen a lot of "best cheesesteaks in Maryland" and "best in MoCo" lists recently, but I got to say, my favorite is still Peter's Carry Out. No question about it. Peter's still does it the same way they've always been doing it - simple, basic ingredients, made to order. The ingredients are high quality, the veggies (if you order them) are always fresh and crispy, and the bread is perfect. This time I decided to be different and ordered the fish sub (two filets stuffed into a roll with lettuce and cheese and tartar sauce). You can get a fish sandwich (one filet on a roll), but why? The sandwich reminded me of the fish sandwiches I would get as a kid - simple, filling, and tasty. Add a side of old bay fries, and you got the perfect meal. The best cheesesteak in Maryland, of course, and now I would add fish sandwich to the list, too. Hours make in hard to get for me. Finally ordered it one day via delivery and my cheesesteak was very dry. Might be better fresh.

The location is not on my regular "errand route" but is worth visiting. You just need to stop by before closing (breakfast & late lunch). The menu has diner items (breakfast, salads & sandwiches). There is a nice vegetarian burger. The wait time varies. read more

The subs are phenomenal and not disappointing at all. This time around I got my usual the Cheese Steak with mushrooms and green peppers. They asked if I wanted and sides like fries or onion rings and since every thing else was made from scratch I was like might as well get some onion rings. But when I opened the onion rings I noticed they was premade frozen store bought , it was disappointing but I let it slide since everything else was extremely fresh and good. read more

After living in the area all my life I never knew this amazing deli was down the street from my house. Everything on the menu is made fresh and with love! By the chef himself. As soon as you enter the door your greeted with such great energy. I ordered the Greek salad with grilled chicken was absolutely amazing I usually never eat an entire salad but this time I left it clean. My friend ordered a steak and cheese deluxe and she wanted another one. The onion rings were Delicious super crispy, I'm definitely coming back to check out the rest of the menu. The experience here was l great, the employees here and the owner are super friendly. If you live in the area you have to stop by you won't regret it, if your passing by or visiting this is a deli you'll want to visit more often. Parking is located behind the restaurant or street. Saturday 11/11/2023 I got a takeout order of the super steak n cheese special (double meat portion) 12$. The steak n cheese was decent and the price for it was reasonable. The service left me with mixed views. Ordering the food was straight forward and the chef cooks right infront of you and chats with customers which is cool. But the reason it left me with mixed views is when I was waiting with my friend to place my order, I heard the lead cook say "keep an eye on those two in the back" (or something like that) and thats very odd cause he was definitely referring to us and we were also the only black people there at the moment. Hopefully I misheard for their sake but that's definitely not a good look. read more

Almost, like a taste of my childhood and Brooklyn, that's the flavor I got last weekend @peters_carryout Growing up, we didn't have big fancy diners, we had cozy intimate small owned restaurants. In fact, when I was little, my dad owned a small place in Bedstuy, Brooklyn. Peter's is a place serving good home style diner food. Review: In the mood for a big platter of bacon and eggs. I arrive at the end of the morning rush, so I got a breakfast sandwich. It was tasty and delicious, only thing missing was @oldbay_seasoning hot sauce. Might have to start carrying some hot sauce in my purse, like the famous singer. I did have some Old Bay French Fries, which were savory goodness. Is there somewhere you go for a taste of home, if you don't live in your hometown?! Travel often, live and eat deliciously. The staff is very nice and friendly. Even though, they rock it old school with a cash register, they also have a credit card reader. There's public parking lot nearby. The place maybe can seat around 20 people at a time. This no-frills diner serves up hearty sammies and other popular foods with spirit and speed. The owner, Ned, has been passing himself off as Peter to me for a number of years, but it's all in good fun. Ned is a feisty soul who knows how to do short-order cooking on a flattop grill very well. He's got a commanding presence -- and voice -- and it sort of feels like I'm in a Bethesda version of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" when here. It's a tight spot; a long counter with several stools. I love it. You can see your meal being prepared. The banter is rapid-fire and hilarious. Their website states that "they don't make places like this anymore" and that's totally accurate. Ned's son, Tyler, who works with his father, told me that Ned acquired the food business in 1988. I've had a variety of sammies and breakfast over the years. I've liked all of them. The fries are excellent and arrive piping hot; if you don't want the bay seasoning on 'em, say so. Man, I can't say enough good things about this place. I have to go to Walter Reed Bethesda for appointments and was looking for a spot for lunch (since it's an hour drive from home), and I stopped here today based off of other good reviews. There are meters on the side of the road and also a little public parking lot conveniently right around the corner from the restaurant -- less than a two minute walk. We decided to dine in, and they got our orders & made them so promptly, I'm talking within minutes. We tossed quarters in the meter for 45 minutes of parking, but you could easily get away with 20 minutes if you're dining in. Ten max if you're doing takeout. The service was great, they're super fast and friendly. The food is awesome, everything's hot, fresh, crispy, literally made right in front of you. And to top it all off the prices are super reasonable. Honestly, I'd drive all the way out here just to eat at this place! Highly recommend. read more

Gyro was okay. Nothing special. But it wasn't bad at all. But this is an honest business right there. They charged you a reasonable price for a gyro. Nothing more nothing less. Never asking for tips or anything. Just honest business. The owner made my gyro. He seem super friendly. Was gonna ask for fries but they were closing out. Places like this are few and far in between in DMV - home in the wall joints with good company and damn good food at a fraction of the price. Peter's may have prime location on Wisconsin Avenue, but it's a lunch that can't be beat. First off, whether you call it cheesesteak or a steak and cheese, Peter's is best in town. Soft roll, tender steak, and cheese just melted enough to bring everything together. If I get a cheesesteak in DC it's normally to get them around $15, so for Peter's to be that good under $10 is insane to me. But if that's not your speed, I haven't had anything here that doesn't slap. Gyro platter - comes over an incredibly clean salad and you get plenty of meat. Something like the Peter's sampler just slaps with the boys while watching the game. Plus they kill their classic breakfast options and have great subs both hot and cold. The only downsides I can think of are not being able to order breakfast online and that their hours are so short (due to world situation). Because if they were open for dinner - you know I'd have some days eating here all three meals. The last of the local lunch counters, where the guy on the other side of the counter is the owner and son of the beloved founder, the wall is covered with photos of patrons and their families over the years, and there's friendly banter between the regulars. Food's great, the fries are crispy, and you can get a draft beer with your burger, although it's not a bar/bar atmosphere. If you love a good lunch counter, you'll love this place. read more

We all have those "best things I've ever ate" places and dishes. When it comes to gyros, Peter's is that place for me. Over ten years ago I had my first gyro here and WOW! It's was new and full of flavor. But I stopped going to school in the area so could no longer just go grab lunch. I started to order gyros whenever I saw them on a menu. I even visited Greek spots around the DMV...but nothing compared to Peters...TODAY I was led right to the door due to some business I had to handle. Perfect timing 11:30 and hungry. I expected the price to have increased in the last decade but nope it was still $9 (amazing). I took my first bite in over 10years and BAM! Still the same, still sooooo good, still the same great family owned service...I now know that this is worth the drive and nobody will compare. I'm coming home Peters! read more

I wanted to try their Philly cheese steak for a long time. Well, the food is 4 stars and service is 1 star. The price is about 25precent higher than showed on the menu. When we asked owner why we charged higher, he became very aggressive and shoved the sign of ' price fluctuations' to our face. Hey, I know that inflation is high and small business is having hard time. I just looked for an explanation of price charged.. don't have to get personal.. maybe the owner just had a bad day. Ordering was very easy since you can order directly online. They have so many options for everyone but we opted for the steak and cheese, godfather sub, old bay fries, Greek salad with gyro meat, and homemade coleslaw. Everything was packaged well and the order was ready when I arrived. Godfather sub: I loved this one! It is spicy since there are hot peppers on it, but it is a fully loaded sub. Steak and Cheese: what they're known for! I didn't get this but I did have a bite--the steak was melt in your mouth and had plenty of cheese and onions. Old bay fries: couldn't get enough of these!
