I just moved into Matawan a month ago and have been searching through the area for good spots to hit up and unwind. Old Glory was fantastic with a great beer selection, the cocktails were delicious on a hot day, and the food selection was perfect. The one thing that separates them from others though was there acceptance of my Golden Retriever Tucker. He is always uninvited, but at Old Glory everyone absolutely loved him with open heart and open arms. For once, my whole family could come out together and enjoy the day. I never do these reviews, good or bad, but Old Glory is the exception. Four different bars including a basement lounge, a loft bar, and a patio setting. Everything one person could need in one spot! I hosted my boyfriend's surprise 25th birthday here and there is not a bad thing to say! The food was amazing, drinks were plentiful and the service was excellent. I planned the party with Jaclyn, the event planner at Old Glory and she made the experience very smooth and was helpful on all accounts. The day of, another woman Kristin, helped set up the décor and was around all night long if we needed any assistance. She was also great!! My husband and I had dinner at Old Glory last night with friends. We ordered the calamari appetizer. The menu states that it is served with cherry peppers but there was very little calamari and almost all peppers. When you order calamari that's what you expect to get. We spoke to the manager, Kevin, who said he would speak to the kitchen about it but did nothing else. A little disappointing! Bartender was very nice, wasn't sure what we wanted and he was so patient and helpful. My friends and i went to get a bunch of apps and drinks and this is a great place to do just that. Such a large space, there's an upstairs that is open air on a nice summer day I would love to go back and sit up there. I wouldn't go there to eat a 'fancier' sit down meal, but to hang out and grab drinks it's perfect. Absolutely terrible experience. Our food all came out at once, no staggering appetizers and entrees. We were never given spoons for soup despite asking several times. The waitress put the wrong thing in for my son and was annoyed when we mentioned it. As if we messed up, but the bill showed that she did. All I could say when I walked in was wow!! This place decorated head to toe American flag, golden eagle and even Uncle Sams outfit. It was tastefully done and I really liked it. Now I'm sure this place is bumping in the warmer months with the outdoor seating it doubles its square footage in seating . We ate upstairs and the entire ceiling is the american flag. And the tables give you a nice over view of the 1st floor of the restaurant. Also they have a lounge area at the bottom that has a separate bar and some tables and benches for waiting . Now everything on the menu sounds good but we tried a few pies and a burger and salad this trip and everything thing we ordered was delicious. The spicy Joey was my older daughters favorite. The millennial was my Hubbies favorite. I enjoyed the Cheyenne Burger special and the Cobb salad . My little one who's plum Jane enjoyed her pasta with Marinara. This was our first time here and we definitely plan to come back. Oh forgot to mention the staff was super friendly and manager/ owner ( I think) kept the restaurant flowing so guest could be seated quickly . My family and I have been to Old Glory at least a dozen times. Big and small groups. Generally everything has been great. The food is always good and the staff is great too. We love their Pizzas and wings. My wife orders the Chicken Milanese every time. Yesterday we had a party of 9 and a baby. It was a Monday so it wasn't super busy. nothing went right...We had a straggler so while we were waiting for the last person in our party to meet us we ordered some drinks, bread and some apps. Half the table got drinks the other half did not. I personally asked for the bread 3 times before it was then brought up cold. Nothing was done with out asking a minimum of 3 times. To the point where the manager and bar tender were bring up our waters and drinks. They were always kind with an apology but when you have a large group including a small child its frustrating to have to ask repeatedly to have simple things done like get a refill of water. I also had to change my baby on the floor of the bathroom. Being a family friendly restaurant I was surprised to see they didn't have any option for diaper changing. We will definitely be back and hopefully the little things can be fixed because we really do love it there. read more

My husband and I ordered from Old Glory for the first time today. We are new to the area and are starting to venture out a bit. We ordered pizza and sangria today and I spoke with John on the phone who was incredibly polite and patient with taking my order. I tried online but had issues with the app but he was more than gracious to help me on the phone. I picked up my order and we came home and the food was hands-down the best we've had in a very very long time. Also the sangria was fabulous. So my wife and I were in the area and took a flyer on this place for lunch! Man are we glad we did the calamari is pretty good but the crab dip bowl was amazing as were the fire roasted wings! And the drinks were excellent my wife had a margarita and I had a mojito (although we both liked her margarita more than the mojito) our server was super nice too! Food came out fast and hot! I really like this place, I came for lunch on Monday for the first time and then came back Tuesday for dinner so I guess that's pretty obvious! To start, this place is beautiful! It's an old church remodeled and the woodworking is absolutely stunning. Everyone who works here seems really nice too! Our waitress Amelia, (I think) we actually had her both times, was especially nice. Ok so for Monday lunch we had a kids pizza for my daughter which surprised me with how good it was, usually kids meals are nothing to run home about but their kids pizza is only slightly smaller than their regular pizza and doesn't have any toppings on it. I had their French dip special, which had delicious thin sliced roast beef and came with fries for like $8! Such a great deal. We then came back and had wings pizza and fried calamari for dinner the next day. They have great food. The pizza is really great it has so much flavor big chunks of garlic and basil so yummy!!! A perfect night in NJ, sitting outside under the stars with great music, people upstairs and outside and the smell of delicious food. I was a little late and just made last call but was so glad that I did, craving some pizza! I ordered a margarita which came out good and started off with some buffalo wings, with a heavy debate on which pizza to get with my date. There was an option for a special pie with sausage that was so appealing but instead we decided to go with a vodka pie (always the right choice) with some meatballs on it, extra crispy- extra delicious!!!! Been trying to get here for a while life gets in the way. Ordered the Bacon wrapped meat loaf which came with mashed and Broccoli all came out hot and delicious, was enjoying a J& Coke my wife had fish n Chips the only negative I could mention was the gravy was a little light our server immediately brought a bowl of steaming Hot gravy to finish. I look down - the bar counter is filled with crumbs, like it's been there for years! Even under the plexiglass in bar. Visited Old Glory while in Keyport. If you've never been to Keyport it is worth a visit. Small town environment on the waterfront with a few bars, restaurants and antique shops. Old Glory opened about a year ago and we had to check it out. Built in a renovated old church, this place is beautifully decorated with cat walks inside and out above a patio. They have a patriotic theme serving only American beer and tasty brick oven treats. The pizza is excellent and they serve you a complimentary bread that's so good we had to ask for more. While waiting for our seats we sat at the bar and enjoyed the Loaded Meatballs. They were fantastic, and tasted just like my grandmothers! They were stuffed with mozzarella and melted in your mouth. Pizza wise we tried The Old Glory and Vodka Pie, both were equally delicious. My boyfriend tried the Braised Short Ribs and loved them! They were served with mashed potatoes, veggies, and topped with potato sticks! The service was truly fantastic and atmosphere was awesome. We will definitely be coming back for more! read more

Ambiance: I went during COV-19, so the ambiance may be different when everything is back to normal. I absolutely love the decor inside and the atmosphere. It's homey, fun, alive and welcoming. Food: to be honest, I thought I was going to get diner food. I expected ok burgers and entrees. However, I was blown away by the food. I got the Bayou burger, which, if you like blue cheese you are going to love this burger! I asked for a medium burger but got a medium well. If the burger wasn't so good I would have sent it back but it was delicious! Fries were also delicious! My husband got chicken, bacon & ranch pizza and I didn't think much when I looked at it but it was actually pretty good. My wife and I love this place. We went there for the first time on Monday. The atmosphere is casual, kid friendly. The interior is beautifully done. Especially since it was converted from being previously a church. Looked very clean. Carlos our server was very attentive and the food moved out quickly. Even on a Monday the place was busy. Good sign. Appetizers were great. Had garlic shrimp, and coconut shrimp. The bread they serve to accompany is amazing. The dinners were also great. We had a chicken sandwich and bacon wrapped meatloaf. Meatloaf in a restaurant usually doesn't go well but it was amazing. The sides were great as well. The place was so good we returned on Thursday. Again our server Kacey was great, food moved out quickly, and was delicious. Appetizers were the same as Monday. The dinners were the Old Glory classic pizza and the crabby mac and cheese. We were EXTREMELY disappointed with our recent visit. We made a reservation for 12 over a week in advance to celebrate two important family birthdays. When we arrived for our 7:30pm reservation, we were told to hang tight while they put the tables together. 45 minutes later they still had not seated us. We spoke with the manager who said she could sit 8 out of our 12 and that they were just waiting on a table to finish dessert. Turns out that table hadn't even ordered their dessert yet! Needless to say, we left and enjoyed a WONDERFUL dinner with GREAT service at BURLEWS down the street. We will NOT be back to Old Glory or McDonaghs. read more
